My past life is nothing to write home about.i use to obeyed the spirit of unrighteousness indignation,impenitent and hardnes of heart.i truggle to succeed in life.and also struggle to life a righteous life.most of those things i hate i see myself doing it.is like going back to my vomit.is drinking alcohol a sin.sometime if i want to take it,i will be having double mind.the worst of it a friend of mine intruduced me into the world of patronizing prostituted.at the age of 19yrs,at that time i never take it as a sin.a time came when i detest it.the more i struggle to stop it.the more i see myself doing it.now i have made up my mind never to go back to my vomit again.i pray that God will give me the grace.please i need your advice and prayer"

If we only had to do it with our own power, the failure was inevitable. Thank God, we have got such amazing Savior.

 

Therefore:

Romans 12:2 - And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what [is] that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

1 Corinthians 2:14-16 - But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know [them], because they are spiritually discerned...

Spend so much time in God's Word through reading the Bible, and in His Presence through prayer and fasting, that He begins to 'rub off' on you.  THAT'S HOW YOU TRANSFORM YOUR LIFE.

The closer you walk with God, the easier it is to hear His voice directing your every step.  Alone, we can do nothing pleasing to God.  With Christ, we can do all thing pleasing to God.  This walk comes by faith, and faith comes from the word of God, His bible.  Study, pray, and fast unto the Lord and allow Him to created in you a new mind, a heart of flesh and you will become more like Christ if humility is part of your foundation.

All of the answers above are valid. But, I would like to give you some practical advice.

 

Imagine your mind to be a lush green garden, and do you know people guard their gardens? Like soldiers and generals. Similarly, stand sentry to the thoughts that enter the garden of your mind. Never let even a negative thought enter. Control what you think.

 

Its a scientific fact that 95% of our thoughts are the same as the previous days'. So the first day should be tough, and as time goes you will find controlling your mind easier.

 

Next, use the principle of opposition thinking. Imagine your mind to be a big screen. Once, a negative thought occurs, project something positive. If you have nothing positive to think about, focus your thoughts on how to make something positive happen in your life. Hang out with Godly friends, you can even hang out here. God's greatest blessings are the pure and untouched ones, like the morning sunshine, a small baby's laugh etc. So enjoy nature, dance in the rain, and enjoy life's biggest blessings.

 

I may be wrong,but right now you may be a muddle of confused thoughts. You may have several questions you want answers to, you may be worried about how to overcome temptations,and you may be in a negative mood. Let us worry about your questions later, right now, the key idea is to clean up your thoughts, and induce some positivity into your life.

 

If you are an avid reader, you can read a book called 'A monk who sold his ferrari'. It not Christian or Biblibal, but its practical.

Hi there Kenny, Fez here again.It is wonderful that you have the courage and grace to admit that there are some things in your life that need changing. I will pray for you, as will many on this site, it is what we do. So prayer is a given and we should always start everything with prayer.

But with prayer we need to work at change. I would pray more for change than the grace you seek. I would pray that God gave me the strength to change my lifestyle completely. I would pray that God gave me the strength to put the old me behind me and start a new chapter.

To do this you may have to leave people behind who you now call "friends", if they are practicing the lifestyle you are turning away from. I would pray for God to show me the way forward, and ask Him to steer me on it.

I would also remind myself that it will not be easy, and the devil will try to create a false path for me to follow, and that he will make it as difficult as he can, in order that I might just give up.

Don't give up brother, the reward is great. Remind yourself of the reward every time you want to go back to the drink and the women (which you must admit feels so good when you are there, and then you feel so guilty and dirty after) - because that's what satan wants you to feel, "enjoyment and fun", and guilt after. That way you cannot see God.

Leave the lifestyle, and pray every minute. Soak yourself in the Word, not in drink brother.

      You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

      Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

      I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

      For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

      2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices. 

      So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

      Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end. 
      Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house. 

      Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

      As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

      Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
      Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

      So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
