A Christian, a believer and a 'born again' are pretty much the same thing.  We can't pray for the dead because they have no hope of redemption.  This is why it's important to be ready to meet the Lord.  We could meet Him at any time.  :mgbowtie:

Ever hear of the term: the harrowing of hell?

No, please explain what you mean.

From Wikipedia: The Harrowing of Hell (Latin: Descensus Christi ad Inferos, "the descent of Christ into hell") is the Old English and Middle English term for the triumphant descent of Christ into Hell (or Hades) between the time of his Crucifixion and his Resurrection when he brought salvation to all of the righteous who had died since the beginning of the world (excluding the damned).  This is the traditional Catholic view.  Jesus' descent into hell is formulated into some of the earliest formal teachings of the church as seen in the Apostles' Creed & Athanasian Creed.  The Eastern Orthodox view includes the belief that Jesus brought salvation not only to the Old Testament righteous in Hades but to the unrighteous as well.

1 Peter 3:19-20 says that Jesus "went and made a proclamation to the spirits in prison, who in former times did not obey, when God waited patiently in the days of Noah…" (NRSV).

1 Peter 4:6 says that the gospel was "proclaimed even to the dead…" (NRSV).

This belief contradicts that idea that the only chance to receive Christ is available only when we are alive.

Yes the term" Christian/believer/ and born again" do all mean the same.. but in saying that.the words christian and believer are very loosely used by many who are not "born again" I will give myself as an example.

When I was in my teens I entered a catholic convent and became a Nun. I acknowledged that I was a christian and a believer BUT I was not "born again"....I was never taught that I need to be born again.

There are many who say they are Christians but are not.

you got the point.in the state where i stay.i use to wonder how come this person call him/herself a christian.yet he/she still furnicate and commit all kind of sins.one day i asked somebody."why" he told me that he is a christian not born again.in my country once you are not a musilem.you are christian.even i myself at that time i use to go to church.i see myself as a christian.but i know iam not born again.that was why i asked that question"

Their are many who are going to say they are born again or a Christian or a believer and they aren't.

Jerry you say that you read the Bible and pray and yet you are not born again, may I ask why? In John 3:3 scripture tells us that we MUST be born again otherwise you cannot go to be with The Lord when you die.

Thank you for your reply.  I do not know what it is like living in an area where you are labeled one or the other.  I can see where the term Christian can be misleading in your case.

When we accept Christ as our Savior, turning from the old life we lived, and make a heart decision to follow Christ, the Holy Spirit will begin to change how you think, feel and act.  He takes the words you read in scripture and applies them to your new life in Christ, allowing you to become more like Jesus.  The more you change, the more you become the light to the lost around you.  It is because of  the work of the Holy Spirit in our lives that gives us a new life; therefore, being born again.

i believed you did not understand my comment.i said before:even criminals pray and read the bible.does that make them a born again.even a muslim in my country can quote the bible.someone need God's grace to become a pure born again.what do you think Jesus mean here:verily verily i say unto you.execpt a man be born of water and of the spirit.he can't enter into the kinddom of God.

Jerry being born again by the Spirit means this that you acknowledge that you are a sinner and in need of forgiveness, you should hate that sin that has separated you from The Lord,  repent, and ask The Lord Jesus to forgive you those sins and receive the  "life" which  He has offered you.

The water as I understand it means to be washed by the word of God, as we read scripture on a daily basis we are washed.

Eph 5:26  That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word,

Just want to know if there is any deference between.christian, believer and born again?

I also want to know what you think if a prayer of a christian can save a soul of someone who died while commiting sin? The reason I ask is a christian woman was praying and asking God to grant her late husband who died while commiting sin, soul to heaven. Both of them go to church.

 Yes, there are differences.

A Christian may be a nominal one being born to Christian parents. A religious Christian.

Believer is one who has accepted Jesus Christ as his Savior.

Born again is one who gets the blessings from above and leads a transformed life cultivating the fruit of the Spirit.

For your second question the answer is no!

By the way, you not have asked who is a disciple of Christ? Who is he?

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
