And don't hand me this Jesus Christ "fellowshipped" wither sinners line. Jesus Christ NEVER "HUNG" with people who perverted and hated God!

Then what was he doing in the house of a tax collector? What was he doing in a house full of Pharisees when the prostitute fell at His feet?

Jesus went to the people who needed Him the most.

A supposedly, Christian, would "LOVE" to "HANG" with Marilyn Manson!!!

The Bible says PLAINLY in Ephesians 5:11:

And have NO FELLOWSHIP with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them.

So if I bought him lunch in order to sit down and talk to him about Jesus...I would be sinning? How does that line up with the Great Commission?

Fred Phelps is a pastor who preaches "God hates fags". He preaches absolute hatred for everyone but God's elect. He shows no mercy or grace on homosexuals, and even pickets at funerals of homosexuals. He is a bad pastor, an evil man....does this mean all pastors are bad?

Hi Jon,

The tax collectors, pharisees and prostitutes that Jesus spent time with were not the ones who perverted and hated God! Nicodemus was a pharisee, Zacchaeus was a tax collector, and Mary Magdalene was a prostitute. All of whom wanted to know Jesus and willingly came to Him. Jesus also said don't cast your pearls before swine.

What do you make of the imprecatory psalms?

Ps 7:11  God judgeth the righteous, and God is angry [with the wicked] every day.
And how about Proverbs, is there anything we can learn from them?

Obviously God cared enough about them to die for them. Also, where does it say Mary Magdalene was a prositute?

In fact, the Bible also does not say who the Pharisee is in Luke 11:37. Another fact is that Pharisees ate together, they ate with the "elite" of their time, who were also corrupt. Tax collectors and lawyers are a few. However, Jesus always brought a message with Him, which is what we as Christians should do.

Another interesting story is the woman who was going to be stoned. She never said a word, but Jesus stepped in and made sure she was not stoned. He had compassion on her, even as an adultress. How many people we deem as "people are perverted and hate God" do we have any compassion on? Let me tell you this, everytime we sin, as Christians, we pervert the Holy House of God. We grieve the Holy Spirit, and we tell God we are better off doing things our own way. The same grace I am under is the same grace available to Marilyn Manson. Unfortunately we'd rather bicker about how evil he is than actually bring this message of salvation to him.

Now let me ask you, since you pointed those OT verses out. When you imagine Christ hanging on the cross, taking the pain and sin for our sake...do you picture an angry, vengeful God? Or do you picture a God who loves us, and wants us all to accept Him? By shunning and avoiding the "sinful" people of this world, we are being as un-Christlike as possible. Jesus came into the world, full of sinners without any hope, and went to the hurting, the worst of sinners, the liars, the cheaters. He stood up for the adultress, He took our place on the cross. So if Christ had enough compassion and love for all of us, that He would come down and spend time with sinners and eventually die for them....how can we talk about being godly and Christlike, yet avoid the very same thing Jesus did by coming to earth?

I always took it that, the Bible translated into my terms read, not to 'hang' with people as in, do not intertain their ungodly ideas. but..., if like you are supposed to, and pay attention to the whole book, it reads in other places to play all the cards right and be on the good side of everyone, ungodly or not, i would love to 'hang' with Marilyn Manson, everyday, every freaking day, and while he was spitting his blasphemes at me i would be praying for him, and maybe one day at 'lunch' he would tell me he loved Jesus and mean it, becuase prayer works, maybe its just been a long time since he's been loved by a Christian, imagine being the person to win over Marilyn Manson, talk about a Jesus Freak, you'd have to be to tolerate it.

Sorry, forgot, as far as secular music, the term secular music, in which you are using it is man made, i consider man made not real, or not important, bands like switchfoot don't say the name Jesus, but they are communicating His values to millions being a 'mainstream' band, they are playing the cards right.

define secular music, Jesus said nothing about 'secular music,' just do not support satan's ideas by listneing to blasphemous music, its easy to tell it when you hear it.

Lyrics From Five Iron Frenzy

Old West

Some cowboys were a ridin', ridin' on the range;

The grass was over grazed there, and spotted like some mange;

The buffalo were dead there, the trees they all were through,

and if they saw some Injuns, why they would kill them too.

West or bust, in God we trust, "Let's rape, let's kill, let's steal"

We can almost justify, anything we feel;

I'm climbing up that ladder, more brownie points for me

I'll work my way to Jesus you wait and see.

Said one cowboy to another,

"I think it would be nice, if we could take these injuns and convert them all to Christ; See, they are all disgusting, and bringing me great pain,

and if they don't believe me, we'll put a bullet in their brains!"

I am always shoutin', when I go outside,

how people should repent now, or they're going to die.

My motives are all selfish, I'm a cannon brimmed with powder.

If people don't believe me, I just beat them and yell louder.

Some how I cant picture this being a spiritual song that is honoring and lifting up the name of Jesus

LOL

Now didn't I just predict you to the T? I said you would try and find dirt on them, and, what do you know, you tried...........and failed miserably.

They're using irony about the American west. We talk about how religious our forefathers were yet they raped, killed, and burnt their way westard. They destroyed the Native nations in order to plant crops and grab land. They're pointing out that this is not Christ-like. I wouldn't say it's a spiritual song...but then you have to prove that's a sin. Instead, it is a song that is used to teach. This falls in line with the Bible in that ancient Hebrew custom would sing the scriptures, specifically from the law, so that people would recognize their sin. Five Iron Frenzy is singing the sins of the American past and how many are falling into similar sins today of having just a cultural Christianity.

Oh...and if you really want to, here is another one of their songs:

In a field of yellow flowers,

underneath the sun,

bluest eyes that spark with lightning,

boy with shoes undone.

He is young, so full of hope,

reveling in tiny dreams,

filling up, his arms with flowers,

right for giving any queen.

Running to her beaming bright,

while cradling his prize.

A flickering of yellow light,

within his mother's eyes.

She holds them to her heart,

keeping them where they'll be safe,

clasped within her very marrow,

dandelions in a vase.

She sees love, where anyone else would see weeds.

all hope is found.

Here is everything he needs.

Fathomless your endless mercy,

weight I could not lift.

Where do I fit in this puzzle,

what good are these gifts?

Not a martyr, or a saint,

scarcely can I struggle through.

All that I have ever wanted,

was to give my best to you.

Lord, search my heart,

create in me something clean.

Dandelions

you see flowers in these weeds.

Gently lifting hands to heaven,

softened by the sweetest hush,

a Father sings over his children,

loving them so very much.

More than words could warrant,

deeper than the darkest blue,

more than sacrifice could merit,

Lord, I give my heart to you.

So, do your search again (because I know you will) and find something else you disagree with. Likewise, you'll find something in the above song that you don't agree with and try to make them unchrist-like. Oh well....

Question: How does this song bring glory to God?

Answer: It doesn't

Hmm....that was easy.

(Doesn't mean all Christian rock is bad though. This is just a good example of the junk out there that Satan is using to deceive people.)

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
