I mean seriously, does anyone who adheres to those claims really just stop a moment and think of what the results would be if that is all you had to do?

 

Another consideration, is the fact that spells, curses, etc are words and throw in a few actions to go along with them, and you have pretty much the

same mentality.  The idea is to alter reality and bring your own will to pass.

 

Jesus prayed "Not my will but Yours (His Father) be done."  The thing is, the revealed will of God, everything He has already stated in the Bible,

is not a book of sorcery that if we repeat certain verses in certain orders, we get what we wish for.

You make a good point, and I'll add to it.

 

Something else to look at is who is at the center. Man is at the center. God is made to be nothing more than some cosmic slot machine that if you say the right words He'll give you what you want. The fallen human heart is great at that sort of thing. I'm glad the Bible says different. Another good one is their spin on titheing -- pay up or God won't bless you. It makes God out to be some kind of Mafia Don who'll make life rough for you if he doesn't get his "cut." Its disgusting, and it makes me angry -- so I'll get off the soap box now.

 

Note: I'm not against titheing, so all y'all put the rocks down! I'm against the way it has been abused by some into extortion for mere money in some circles. Giving is supposed to be done willingly and joyfully not with a gun to your head or from a spirit of "do it or else."

I'm sure people remember when the founder of a certain university announced that God was holding him hostage....words to the effect that if a certain amount of money was NOT in the coffers by

a deadline long since forgotten, that God would smite said university founder dead.

 

That, that, (yes there's 2 thats and now there are 3) was so far beyond the pale, that the universe is white and the stars are black....in that world.  That,  makes sense to me hope you follow
