I am a Christian. I accepted Christ as my Lord and Savor. I was baptized and have publicly proclaim Christ as my savor. I try very hard to following the teachings of Christ and seek out God's will for my life. I ask for forgiveness when I fall.. But even though I am a Christian, it seems my views on some issues are very different then other Christians. This sometimes puts me at odds with follow Christians. I have always seen things differently then other people and have followed my own mind. Some Christians would say " you can not be a true Christan if you support this issue, or if you don't vote a certain way. For or against something". But try as I might to "fit" in with fellow Christians on their political views, I simply can not.  It could be because I never did "fit in". It maybe because I have had friends who did not fit in as well. I do not claim to know all things .As far as my political ideals go, I accept that what I believe is the right way now. Later, it maybe shown to me to not be the right way. The same could be said for my spiritual believes. For the past few years I have felt what I think is a calling. A calling to show the world what a follower of Christ really is. Or at less what I believe a follower of Christ should be. For me it is not about supporting this "issue" or being against this "issue". For me it is about caring for my fellow man. I desire to do this but am unsure how to go about. So I look for opportunists that may come along. Even something as simple as taking the time to  help an elderly person in the grocery store to find an item they are looking for. Anyway, I do not know why I am telling you all of this. I just want to grow in my faith and understand that no matter how old I get, I will always be growing in my faith.

LadyKay, the pastor of my church recently gave a sermon on this very issue. In brief, he said look into your heart, pray, and follow your conscience.  He encourages us to reach out to the community to be an example that others may follow and by seeing how we act to come to know Jesus.  The church I belong is quite diverse having folks from all different backgrounds, ethnicities, political persuasions, and opinions.  Unlike many other churches we don't talk politics - the biggest controversy is about college football teams.   :mgcheerful:

My wife and I joined this church a little over a year ago and there are some things all of us have in common: (1)  A great love for Jesus our Savior; (2) respect for each other no matter what his or her opinion may be; (3) the desire to spread the Gospel and witness to others; and (4) performing good works for the community and spreading the Good Word.  In addition, many of us do what you do: helping others on an individual basis.  I often will help an older person while grocery shopping and afterwards always with a smile say "Have a blessed day" or "God bless you."  After many years I have discovered that my God is a God of unending love who has a positive message for all.

Is what we are doing honoring God and giving Him the Glory?

That's the standard we should uphold and assess in everything we do.

Sounds easy...... But that is the essence of the walk set out for us as Christians. It's how we shine the lamp.

and "Hope is patience with the lamp lit" (with apologies to Tertullian)

My my, LadyKay...Wow...Do I relate...I don't fit in anywhere...period...or maybe it's too much trouble for me to try to...anyway...I know when God happened to me; He happened...and eventually after much prayer and Seeking Him and What He Wanted me To Do...Well, He answered me!!! I'm just really super glad you brought this up!!! I need you, today...Yeah!!!

Maybe I'll just get all this out and maybe some inspiration will come from it...I need a little inspiration myself!!!

There is really a process, at least for me there is...but just some of the things He has given me to do is...The first one was like a letter...It started out a poem...I actually knew which person's He wanted me to hand it to...Then it was like He sat me down at the computer and it took 4 days to type out this paper with Words that I had been given...so now I can print them out from The Word Processor, cut them in the shape of a heart and hand them out to people no matter where I am...It came one day when the thought just wouldn't leave me alone...Write a little paper about How Much He Cares and Loves Us...

This is how the relationship with Jesus works with me...He changed me...I mean big changed!!! I pray and praise and pray and praise some more to Him for Help and What He Wants On The Earth...He lets me know what it is...and the more faithful I am to do what He has given me to do-the more He will give me...am I perfect at it? No...Especially the one that I think will take more than one generation to complete...Hahaha...He can prove to us that just as it was in the days of old...He is the same today as He was yesterday...He is the same because He is Alive!!! Just as Moses was given what looked like an impossible job...Moses was faithful to start it...and just like Moses I have failed so many times...so I pick myself up again and begin again...Getting inspiration and Hope again in different places...(all Godly places, Hahaha)

And now it is coming to pass something that started a very long time ago but is now happening!!! I am just in amazement but am finding that I am still not immune to these things coming under attack...The enemy does not like it when we do things for God...every distraction will occur...just to let you know...the thing is though that I have found...when this starts happening...it just means I am doing the right thing and because He will never leave me or forsake me...Well...I can get through anything!!! Took me like a very long time to make up my mind to not stop...I let those distractions etc. keep me from doing things for a very long time!!! Found out we can waste our lives away if we let it happen...OK, I'm so sorry...sometimes I won't shup up...Now I'll shut up...Much Love In Him, Kathy

I didn't finish...Hahaha...Sometimes it does help if we tell someone something about what is going on with us...God has a way of helping it along...but mainly what I wanted to say was: I'm no political person; have no desire...but found out after God so happening to me...that I really thought to myself that it was possible!!! And I thought that Christians ought to be in our government big time...

Seems to me like God had me typing an awful lot...and still does it seems...Hahaha

Just to let you know this too...(I kinda did get political one time...no two times) I have written letters to well known figures in our country...and these letters were so inspired by God that they changed me!! There were things that came up over and over, like on the news etc., and well what do you know except I knew that I knew that I had to write the letters...and send them!!! And I did!!! If it didn't change them it sure changed me!!!

PM me if you want to...I'm trying to not forget that I want to keep up with this forum...Hahaha...so I wrote it down this time...Not savvy with all this wonderful technology...yet

Much love again In Him, Kathy

Your intentions are sincere, I think. This makes you see things somewhat different than the others.

Make sure you preserve this treasure through your life.

Hi {{{LadyKay}}}}

I just happened to run across this thread, and i'm gonna answer you like this sista..LOL

For some their day just don't begin unless they got somebody to chew on real good..LOL, it's kinda like 2 little old ladies hangin over the back fence gossipin about this or that lady at their church...I see this all the time and i have to think, just exactly what good are you doin??

i've said it before and i'll say it again, "I can sit in a garage all day long, that don't make me a car, any more then warmin a pew on sunday mornin makes me a christian"....

some folk's know their bible backwards, forwards and sideway's, can quote scripture at the drop of a hat..but yet they have no idea who JESUS CHRIST is....

UNTIL you have a personal relationship with JESUS CHRIST, then you're just spinnin your wheel's and goin nowhere fast.

I don't talk politic's because it just gives me a headache, it's not in my wheel house at all....

I can disagree with some folk's take on some subject's BUT that doesn't mean that i don't like them, some i like alot, i just happen to disagree with their particular take on some subject's is all...

So LadyKay you just be who you are, GOD only made One of you sista, your unique, so are the rest of us andnever ever be afraid to speak your mind, variety is the spice of life.

GBU !

P.s. NeedYouLord, what you said was awsome!!!

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
