Why was moses not allowed to the promise land? Yes

And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying,

Take the rod, and gather thou the assembly together, thou, and Aaron thy brother, and speak ye unto the rock before their eyes; and it shall give forth his water, and thou shalt bring forth to them water out of the rock: so thou shalt give the congregation and their beasts drink.

And Moses took the rod from before the LORD, as he commanded him.

And Moses and Aaron gathered the congregation together before the rock, and he said unto them, Hear now, ye rebels; must we fetch you water out of this rock?

And Moses lifted up his hand, and with his rod he smote the rock twice: and the water came out abundantly, and the congregation drank, and their beasts also.

And the LORD spake unto Moses and Aaron, Because ye believed me not, to sanctify me in the eyes of the children of Israel, therefore ye shall not bring this congregation into the land which I have given them. Numbers 20:7-12

Hi Jerry...It is exactly as recorded in the Scripture you quote....I think we have to understand at that time there was a necessary severity to some of the judgments

given by G-d, both to the Israelites and against the nations that opposed them.   Moses' disobedience was comparitively minor, but I believe those in responsible

positions before G-d will rceive stricter judgment, and G-d could not be seen as a respecter of persons, even with Moses.

There are no recriminations, there is nothing vindictive in the judgment, and when Moses finally dies in sight of all the land G-d has promised the Israelites, there occurs

one of the most loving interactions between YHWH and mankind, when it is recorded G-d Himself buries the body of Moses...this man upon whom G-d had passed a

harsh judgment was loved and honoured by G-d beyond what we can possibly imagine, and I am sure Moses understood and accepted everything without a murmur

and never faltered in his love for G-d.

Read the whole passage here...it is beautiful.

Deut 34:1Now Moses went up from the plains of Moab to Mount Nebo, to the top of Pisgah, which is opposite Jericho. And the LORD showed him all the land, Gilead as far as Dan,2and all Naphtali and the land of Ephraim and Manasseh, and all the land of Judah as far as the western sea,3and the Negev and the plain in the valley of Jericho, the city of palm trees, as far as Zoar.4Then the LORD said to him, “This is the land which I swore to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, saying, ‘I will give it to your descendants’; I have let you see it with your eyes, but you shall not go over there.”5So Moses the servant of the LORD died there in the land of Moab, according to the word of the LORD.6And He buried him in the valley in the land of Moab, opposite Beth-peor; but no man knows his burial place to this day.7Although Moses was one hundred and twenty years old when he died, his eye was not dim, nor his vigor abated.8So the sons of Israel wept for Moses in the plains of Moab thirty days; then the days of weeping and mourning for Moses came to an end.

I suspect that Moses was still impatient and irritated with the people and it hindered his ability to focus on Gods' words and obey exactly. I learn so many lessons here.

Let compassion for others be my guide

Be patient and slow to anger and forgive quickly but repent even faster

Give my full attention to every detail of what God speaks to me.

Christ is represented by the rock. He was only struck on one occasion, the day of His crucifixion. Out of Him flows living water, the words of life. We only need now to Ask of Him to come away refreshed.

Some scholars have noted an interesting point.

Moses is symbolic of the Law.

"Joshua" and "Jesus" come from the same Hebrew derivation. Thus Joshua could be symbolic of Jesus.

So prophetically, we have a picture of the Law carrying the people to the Promised Land but put to death at the end, and then Joshua (Jesus) carrying them into and conquering the Promised Land.

I think the Rocks are symbolic also... God , Truth, and Jesus are referred to as Rocks, Peter as a Rock....  the 1st Rock(Jesus) was struck as the children where coming out of the desert(or wilderness) of Sin -- Jesus struck for our sins(flesh death) >eternal waters from the "Spirit of Truth" flow freely for all      the 2nd time we are Told not to strike  but, to talk to the Rock(Jesus) -- for the water (Spirit of Truth)     now Moses struck the Rock 2 times and Judged the people to be rebels and he did not go to the promised land in flesh but, If we look at the transfiguration... Moses is there!! ... so it looks as though through God's great mercy and Love he has made it to the promised land that is eternal.

I also look with great hope at Peter ( called also the Rock ) he was called "Satan" by Jesus, denied Jesus 3 times and with an oath, lost faith and fell down in the water, questioned 3 times by Jesus about his Love ---- I believe this is a wonderful portrayal of a man who falls  many times but, in tearful repentance  and honest diligence is welcomed back into the Loving arms of our Lord.

Wow -- the promised land I spoke of was heaven as he was in the transfiguration with Jesus ..... and this transfiguration took place in the promised land....... so you be the judge of why he was there, or prove to me he was not there.. I rendered my opinion.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
