Matt 24:

15 When ye therefore shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, stand in the holy place, (whoso readeth , let him understand) 16 Then let them which be in Judaea flee into the mountains: 17 Let him which is on the housetop not come down to take any thing out of his house: 18 Neither let him which is in the field return back to take his clothes. 19 And woe unto them that are with child, and to them that give suck in those days! 20 But pray ye that your flight be not in the winter, neither on the sabbath day: 21 For then shall be great tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be .

Upon the time of the abomination of desolation, I understand this to be when the Israelites must flee - according to traditional teaching, I recall they flee to Petra <correct me if I'm wrong-according to traditional teaching>.  I can understand the praying that the flight be not in winter <cold journey, few available provisions> and that it not be on the sabbath <sabbath rules - x # of steps? highways closed?>, but those who are pregnant or nursing, this has always plagued me. WHY? I can understand not being able to flee quickly, or as conveniently as one who does not have young children (and why doesnt He mention those with toddlers if it were solely on account of fleeing Quickly?)

Your thoughts?

I can imagine pregnancy and running being difficult.

I can also imagine trying to flee with a baby that still needs nursing being difficult as well.

I think you would probably need to read some Josephus works on the issue of the Roman/Jewish wars that happened after the violation of the temple, AD 70

But from what I can tell in reading about the fall of Jerusalem it was important to to get out at the first sign of trouble before the siege started (Which Christ's prophesy is about).   Doing this would allow you to  avoid the danger and suffering that came starvation and fires started by the siege engines and the chaos of war.    If you however did stay behind in the city and went through the siege it was important to flee the city quickly when it fell because the survivors of the siege were enslaved.   Naturally mother's with young children would be sitting ducks.

Thank you Addai, I do have Josephus in my reading 'lineup'/to study - however, I am currently coming from this from either a Pre or Mid Trib POV. - I neglected to state that in my original post.

I am still on the fence regarding pre - mid - and am interested in the Post arguments, however, I have ruled that theory out.

I prefer to not have this turn into a battle, so humbly ask anyone with a 'post' view to kindly refrain. In brotherly Love, Thank you.

Could something like this ever happen again?

Matthew 2

16Then Herod, when he saw that he was deceived by the wise men, was exceedingly angry; and he sent forth and put to death all the male children who were in Bethlehem and in all its districts, from two years old and under, according to the time which he had determined from the wise men.

Hello Man. What circumstance could cause this to happen again ?

I have no idea.

I can't see it having anything to do with hindering someone's escape. A breastfeeding mother can move just as quickly as a non-breastfeeding mom. Pregnant women can also move fast if the situation dictates.

The Beast is going to specifically set his sight's on these women and children. For what reason? I don't know. All we can do for now is speculate.

Blessings Everyone!

It is not about the physical moving or running but about the anguish, turmoil and pain...there is no greater suffering for a woman (or parent)to see their children having to suffer-it just tears you to pieces to see your young ones frightened....A vivid depiction of sorrows...(Imagine a new mother who has just experienced the joy of giving birth to a new life & suddenly that life is threatened)makes quite an impact....

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • George Whitten, the visionary behind Worthy Ministries and Worthy News, explores the timing of the Simchat Torah War in Israel. Is this a water-breaking moment? Does the timing of the conflict on October 7 with Hamas signify something more significant on the horizon?

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Daniel: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 3

      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this study, I'll be focusing on Daniel and his picture of the resurrection and its connection with Yeshua (Jesus).

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
