Mystery Babylon: U.N or Vatican?

I believe it refers to the Vatican.  It is a city that sits on seven hills.  They wear purple and scarlet.  They use a golden chalice, drunk on the blood of the saints...the Catholic church killed over 100 million people...more than Hitler.  A lot of those people were protestants they couldn't force their own beliefs on.  They changed God's laws, times and seasons.  Their religion is highly saturated in paganism.  And if you look at the current pope, he is doing a great job at uniting other faiths...soon to become one faith?  That would be a part of the anti-Christ's system. 

 

The harlot is an unfaithful woman.  I'd say the Catholic church is unfaithful to Christ.

What leads you to id the city with the Vatican?  The Vatican is surely not on 7 hills; the city of Rome is (proverbially) the city on 7 hills.  Consider that the word is fornication, not commit adultery.  And if it were adultery, one would have to postulate that the RCC was somehow a legitimate bride of Christ.  Israel in the OT was called an adulterer, but Israel was legitimate wife of YHWH, figuratively speaking.  I have long thought that people were reading in religion into a passage which is not about religion, but a city.

What you are speaking of ... being destroyed in one day, or actually in my bible it says one hour, is refering to babylons headquarters.  which will be in Jerusalem.  Jerusalem is where the antichrist will rule from.  read in matt 24 it talks about those in judea fleeing into the mountains.  also read in chapter 12 of revelations it talks about "the woman" aka Israel given two great wings of an eagle to "fly" into the wilderness for a time a times and a half time(3.5 years)  There are also other scriptures which is revealing to this such as ones that speak of the abomination of desolation.  The image set up that people will be forced to worship will be set up in Jerusalem in the temple.  The false prophet is going to be the one to "give life unto the image and cause it to speak"  If you care to get a good picture of what it will be like read in daniel.... worship the image or die.

Church basicly means assembly.  If you were to actually look up what I said, do some research on this, you will find the people all over the world in the usa in europe and many other countries are involved in this "new world order.  these people have a hierarchy.  they call a good number of them "orders"  such as order of the 500 and order of the 30 and one of the highest if not the highest is order of the 13....  as in 13 witches in a coven.  some of the ones in the highest order are reporting "they have found one that may be the son of lucifer."  this is their words.  all these people of these secret socioties are this "church" or "assembly."  They are the one pulling strings behind the scenes to form a one world government.  this is the woman that rides the back of the beast that is the world powers.  When you ride a beast you guide it where to go, like say for instance a horse.  When you read babylon is fallen is fallen in revelations its talking about the powers and rule of the anti christ in Jerusalem.  It is not the vatican.

the mother of harlots.  Prostitution has been said to be the oldest profession on earth.  Not sure I agree with that but it goes way way back.  If mystery babylon is the mother of harlots that means she brought all harlots/harlotry to the earth.  then it says Abominations of the earth.  Now who would it be that brought abominations to the earth?  Abominations is plural.  This is clear it is the source of all things detestable to God and this would be the devil.  In the book of revelations is the final battle between good and evil.  I really like how it says babylon is fallen is fallen as past tense.

oh yeah just a side note on what I was saying about those "mystery schools"  they have teachings like Jesus was taken down from the cross and lived to be old.  They teach also that thru certian teachings and learnings you become enlightened to the point of becoming a god(little g).  now where have we heard that lie before.  that same lie is taught in new age religions, this spiritualism, scientology, freemansons that are of higher levels and orders.... and even back to the garden of eden....  "you will not die, for God knows when you eat the fruit your eyes will be opened. "(there is nothing new under the sun)  if you do a word study on the word for "the tree of knowledge of good and evil"  it literaly means to close or fasten your eyes, so the lie actually goes like this....  if you eat the fruit that closes your eyes your eyes will be opened. 

The antichrist will decieve many the bible says.  the false prophets will decieve many.  do not believe it when they say lo, He is in the desert.  deception is the tool the enemy will use to rise to power, and because many have rejected the truth and God, He will give them over to believe the lie.

If you track the Mystery Religions after the Fall of Babylon (Proper)  and after they left Pergamos, they lead dead smack on top of Rome and The RCC.  When Constantine et al decided to make Christianity Legal..... they put a Christian Facade on no less than 3 Sun gods:

One word conspicuously absent from Rev 17-18 (as well as Rev 6-18) is "church" ekklesia.  There is no "ekklesia" in Rev 17-18.  On the other hand there are several refs to polis = city (cf. our word policeman).  IMHO, a city = a city = a city.  Now what city was on 7 hills & ruled over the kings of the world when John wrote Rev?  Is that rocket sci?

So there is the other view, that Babylon is Babylon, despite 7 hills (are there hills in Mesopotamia?) and despite ruling over the kings of the world, & despite the prophecy that Babylon would never be rebuilt.  Of course I know that the POV is not that easy to dismiss as methinks notable Bible-believing scholars have put forth that POV.  As to calling it mystery, I would take that to mean that the truth about this Babylon was unrevealed until John gave the info, consistent with the meaning of mystery in the NT.

 

I think 2021 agrees with me that a city = a city = a city.  If the literal makes sense seek no other sense.  Now it appears to me that city is the divine interpretation of the symbol & that it makes no sense once a symbol is explained to take the explanation as figurative and then reinterpret it a 2nd time.  Does it make sense that we get an explanation of a figure, but the explanation is a figure?

Never been destroyed.  When I took a course in fulfilled prophecy, the never to be rebuilt thing was featured as a proof of fulfilled prophecy.  The illustration the prof used was by reading from Chiera's book, They Wrote on Clay where vividly the desolate site of Babylon is described in detail.  I know that the other POV is that the destruction of Babylon is yet to be fulfilled.  Someone told me that an Arab was paid to stay over night on the site in a tent.  Maybe you can convince me; but IMHO Babylon refers to Rome.  So have at me if you wish.
