You guys there is a difference between people who are possessed and the mentally ill. There is real mental illness out there.

Yes I know. I take 75mg of Venlafaxine...twice a day.   :)

Some here would have me believe I have demons in my head.

Yes ok but a possessed or demonised person may appear as having a mental illness do you think ?

I honestly don't know.

Mar 9:17-18  A man in the crowd answered, "Teacher, I brought you my son, who is possessed by a spirit that has robbed him of speech.  (18)  Whenever it seizes him, it throws him to the ground. He foams at the mouth, gnashes his teeth and becomes rigid. I asked your disciples to drive out the spirit, but they could not."

Possibly; but don't you think lesser forms of these symptoms may be seen as mental illness ?  Anyway I'm not trying to convince you of anything nor am I trying to suggest every "mental" illness  is demonic.

This is just my opinion, but what is described in verse 18 sounds more like epilepsy than mental illness. And I realize epilepsy is caused by abnormal activity in brain cells, but the mental illness discussed here has more to do with depression than anything else.

Most types of epilepsy, like depression can be controlled with medication. If an illness can be controlled with medication, I don't believe that illness is caused by demonic forces.

Of course this is just my opinion. That and a dollar will get you a can of pop.  :)

anyone who seriously deals with possession will tell you that a person's mental health should be checked before trying to deal with any suspected demonic problems.

If a person is truly mentally ill, the things that go on in an exorcism would be extremely dangerous for both the mental and physical health of the person.

Malnutrtion can cause mental illness......   lack of sleep can cause clinical depression......   there's a lot of mind problems that have little to nothing to do with demons.

The question is; what is the demons purpose? They are cast out of heaven, defeated, and their time is running out. What is left for them but revenge? Hurting those God loves is the only thing left to them. Some they may possess, like legion; for they were many. That person reacted like somebody with brain damage. The person was healed when they were driven out by Christ. Others are more like Nero. Read about him and it is pretty obvious he was heavily influenced by the fallen.

With the exception of us the world is under their dominion. We are behind enemy lines! You cannot turn on the TV without being confronted with revenge and violence and flagrant sex without consequence and every immoral thing. It has become unsafe to say a discouraging word towards sexual immorality. You could lose your job or worse. The most common TV theme is the bad guy hurting some innocent people so that the good guy can justify blowing him away in a most gruesome manner. On television you can show somebodys guts getting ripped out with blood splattering in every direction but you cannot express a negative opinion on homosexuality or abortion.

We do not need demons to sin, or fall away from God. We are completely capable of that all on our own but they are crafty and know how to turn our eyes from the cross and onto devination and idol worship and other forbidden practices. They have us wasting ourselves on foolishness like alien abduction rather than praying and reading the bible. They lead us to choose between the truth of the bible or what has been put forth as social norms and political correctness. Who will refuse the mark of the beast when we won't even accept and stand up for biblical truth? Haven't we already accepted the mark?

As far as demons go; they are evil, they are dangerous, flee from them. They are beyond your understanding and they will bring you down. Do not play in these things, avoid them.

As far as mental illness goes; it can be caused by demons but it is not neccessarily related in any way. Do as you should, pray for them, help them, comfort them.

Can they move furniture? Perhaps, they don't have to. They'll just get you to do it if it serves their purpose. Clearly the greatest threat they pose to us is to influence us. They generally don't materialize in front of people, but why not if they can? Perhaps they want to keep us doubting. They tempt us with ghost stories but never really reveal anything concrete. Of course if we knew for certain they were real wouldn't that drive a lot of people to pick up their bibles? They definitely don't want that. It's better to keep people speculating.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this study, I'll be focusing on Daniel and his picture of the resurrection and its connection with Yeshua (Jesus).

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
