The Cross that Jesus Died On !!!!!

So what if pieces of the cross exist today?  After all, they are only bits of wood.  The true meaning of the crucifixion and the teachings of Jesus are what's important.

Very true Neil. I was just curious because as a child unsaved in the catholic church , I remebered hearing about it so I wanted to find out if it was true now that I am out of the Catholic church. I guess the Catholic church has a perception that there better than everyone else that only they would get pieces of the cross if that is what truly happened. I agree with Rustyangels post. She nailed it right on.

Shalom

The cross? Blood sacrifice? Pain & suffering?

You people don't find this the least bit strange?

I forgive freely & unconditionally. No blood necessary here!

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>

Yet you do not have the power to forgive sin, do you? Otherwise you would be God.

Obviously you do not understand the concept of the blood sacrifices and the significance of the Lord Jesus' death upon the cross. Would you like to know?

Under the blood? No, because I live in the 21st century and I do not believe in blood sacrifices.

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>

Cain, The sacrifice was already made for you on the cross. I am curious what the 21st century has to do with salvation in Jesus Christ, that has never changed and never will. If theres one absolute it is this. Jesus died on the cross and shed His blood for all of us including you Cain and He loves us all and wants to be in our Life and reside in our hearts. All we got to do is let Him in. I take it from your comment, that you are not saved. I will pray that God opens your heart to the truth. The promises that God has made to us are true and will never change. The message contained in Gods word has always been the same, and was given for all men. Cain, Jesus can change your life in ways you never thought possible, joy and happiness that you have never experienced can be yours. I pray that you will meet the Living Sacrifice Jesus Christ...

6Now when these things were thus ordained, the priests went always into the first tabernacle, accomplishing the service of God.

It would have continued to be used and used and used, untill it was not able to be used any longer. The Romans were experts at it, and often wood was in short supply.

They would hang people for miles down various roads leading into cities as warnings.

Also there is no agreement on the exact design and how the cross would have been hung. One of the less hollywood version would be that the people to die would have only carried the cross bar and most often they would not have had to carry anything, since the cross bar and upright would have already been in place. The Romans often used various trees for this also.

No one has any history of the actual cross, and it is doubtful short of heavenly insight that first the cross would have survived, and if it did, it would not be able to be determined from any other cross of that era.

There was one found that was claimed to be part of the cross of Christ, but it could never be actually proven.

No not every church got a piece of it. But every Catholic Church does have a relic of some sort at the alter of almost every church.

I agree that the cross is long gone. And it's probably a good thing also, since most people are easily led to worship the object instead of God himself. Look back when Moses was leading the people from Egypt. The golden calf, the icon that the people were to look upon when they were bitten by serpents. Even today we see people worshipping and praying to idols. It is more important to rememeber why Christ died for us than be able to view the cross he died upon.

I think that the tendency of some people towards idolatry is same reason why Jesus never left us a portrait of Himself. Its funny, I heard once that over in the Vatican they have a piece of stone with Jesus' blood on it, and it is claimed to be a piece of the balcony where Jesus stood while the religious leaders were calling for his death. Supposedly it is on display incased in glass. People will believe ANYTHING, it seems. ;)

Supposedly, St. Helena discovered the cross Jesus was crucified on, in Jerusalem. However, there is no way to prove the accuracy of the artifact.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Daniel: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 3

      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this study, I'll be focusing on Daniel and his picture of the resurrection and its connection with Yeshua (Jesus).

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
