Why are the stars there?

  Psalm 19v1-4:

1The heavens declare the glory of God;
And the firmament shows His handiwork.
² Day unto day utters speech,
And night unto night reveals knowledge.
³ There is no speech nor language
Where their voice is not heard.

yes, and to keep us humble, every time we look up to the stars. It gives me a sense of i am nothing without God in this universe.

Love this quote from Calvin:

In Genesis 2:9, He caused to grow every tree pleasant for the sight. So why not have stars etc that are pleasant to the sight? Why couldnt the Lord just create something because it is good to Him? Why does everything have to have a purpose for man? 

 

Altho as romans 1 states, All of creation attests to Him.

What's more amazing and moving to me than the pictures is the fact that we can understand anything about distant stars and galaxies at all. That to me is incredible and deep order writ large.

I wanted to be an astronaut when I was younger.  I love just looking up at the night sky, and pictures of the universe.  God is AMAZING!  I love that when we look up these wonderful sights that we can share in that same knowledge together - regardless of how much we each understand about it all...

....such poems and stories have been written about the stars in the sky. Some people have wished to even go to the moon. I can't say I have ever wanted to visit any moon or planet, more like I will stay here on earth and admire the sky from a far, alot of beauty up there.

It would be awesome if I could go to the moon. I'd even pack my own lunch. 

 

I have in the past used certain constellations to tell time. I was never off by more than a few minutes either way.
