Though I doubt the cats a hero, it just saw a dog and decided to attack it. My old cat (the one we got rid of) hated dogs. with a passion. When we brought Duke home (my lab) that cat would attack duke every chance it got without cause. Now, Duke, being a 80 pound mild mannered Lab, always ignored the attacks causing the cat to merely bounce off of him and land on his back (whoever said cats dont land on their back never met dominic) in this case, the cat obviously caught that dog by surprise. While I suspect this was not done out of loyalty to the kid but kitty nature, Im glad the cat did it, and thank God that cat was there to protect that child. In high school I had several mean dogs who tried to bite me on my paper route.
