Guest shiloh357
What is meant by this? Luk 12:49 KJV - I am come to send fire on the earth; and what will I, if it be already kindled? It's talking about judgment coming on the earth. has it not already come? Jhn 5:22 KJV - For the Father judgeth no man, but hath committed all judgment unto the Son: Jhn 5:27 KJV - And hath given him authority to execute judgment also, because he is the Son of man. Jhn 9:39 KJV - And Jesus said, For judgment I am come into this world, that they which see not might see; and that they which see might be made blind. Jhn 12:31 KJV - Now is the judgment of this world: now shall the prince of this world be cast out. Jhn 16:8 KJV - And when he is come, he will reprove the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment: Jhn 16:11 KJV - Of judgment, because the prince of this world is judged. No, it hasn't come yet. Jesus is talking about when judgment falls during the seals, trumpets and bowls of Revelation. Man has not seen the full weight of God's judgment on this world, yet. Luk 12:49 KJV - I am come to send fire on the earth; and what will I, if it be already kindled? = Rev 19:20 KJV - And the beast was taken, and with him the false prophet that wrought miracles before him, with which he deceived them that had received the mark of the beast, and them that worshipped his image. These both were cast alive into a lake of fire burning with brimstone. Rev 20:10 KJV - And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are, and shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever. Rev 20:14 KJV - And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death. Rev 20:15 KJV - And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire. A type and/or image of God's judgment: Dan 3:25-26 KJV - He answered and said, Lo, I see four men loose, walking in the midst of the fire, and they have no hurt; and the form of the fourth is like the Son of God. Then Nebuchadnezzar came near to the mouth of the burning fiery furnace, and spake, and said, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, ye servants of the most high God, come forth, and come hither. Then Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, came forth of the midst of the fire. and Gen 19:24 KJV - Then the LORD rained upon Sodom and upon Gomorrah brimstone and fire from the LORD out of heaven; but now 2Co 5:1-2 KJV - For we know that if our earthly house of this tabernacle were dissolved, we have a building of God, an house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens. For in this we groan, earnestly desiring to be clothed upon with our house which is from heaven: and 1Ti 1:17 KJV - Now unto the King eternal, immortal, invisible, the only wise God, be honour and glory for ever and ever. Amen. Rom 1:20 KJV - For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse: for Luk 17:20-21 KJV - And when he was demanded of the Pharisees, when the kingdom of God should come, he answered them and said, The kingdom of God cometh not with observation: Neither shall they say, Lo here! or, lo there! for, behold, the kingdom of God is within you. Then and therefore Heb 9:27 KJV - And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment: Rev 20:11 KJV - And I saw a great white throne, and him that sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away; and there was found no place for them. Rev 20:15 KJV - And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire. Edited May 31, 2014 by mevosper

Incorrect interpretation. The bible teaches this physical earth and heaven will be around forever: Psa 104:5 KJV - Who laid the foundations of the earth, that it should not be removed for ever. and Psa 148:1-6 KJV - Praise ye the LORD. Praise ye the LORD from the heavens: praise him in the heights. - Praise ye him, all his angels: praise ye him, all his hosts. - Praise ye him, sun and moon: praise him, all ye stars of light. - Praise him, ye heavens of heavens, and ye waters that be above the heavens. - Let them praise the name of the LORD: for he commanded, and they were created. - He hath also stablished them for ever and ever: he hath made a decree which shall not pass. So they won't be destroyed if they are decreed to last for ever. There is a coexistence. that is the ultimate end of this time period...... How do you come to this conclusion? The Hebrew for "forever" doesn't mean, "for all eternity." It means "the most distant time." Essentially means 'till the end of the age. There are a number of things in the Old Testament that are said to be "forever" like the Levitical sacrificial system, which is no longer around and will not be brought back again by the Lord. The english word "forever" doesn't always do the Hebrew justice.

How do you come to this conclusion? 2 Peter 3:8-13 8 But do not let this one fact escape your notice, beloved, that with the Lord one day is as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day. 9 The Lord is not slow about His promise, as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing for any to perish but for all to come to repentance. 10 But the day of the Lord will come like a thief, in which the heavens will pass away with a roar and the elements will be destroyed with intense heat, and the earth and its works will be burned up. 11 Since all these things are to be destroyed in this way, what sort of people ought you to be in holy conduct and godliness, 12 looking for and hastening the coming of the day of God, on account of which the heavens will be destroyed by burning, and the elements will melt with intense heat! 13 But according to His promise we are looking for new heavens and a new earth, in which righteousness dwells. NASB shiloh covered the forever thing, but Peter is quite firm in what happens to our present earth and heaven.
