How will a believer know that God is in charge of their waiting period,

I believe a waiting period always come along with a promise,a promise produce waiting period, without promise they will not be a waiting period.

I really need help concerning this issue,so your counselling and opinion can be of help.

My bible tells me not to lean on my own understanding:

A brother in the Lord, visited me 2 days ago,and asked me how can i be 100% sure that God is in charge of my waiting period,

I ask him what are you waiting upon God for.

He told me that God promise to take him to his promise land, and for six months he has been waiting upon God,

but now he is confuse, because he has over waited, and he is running out of patience, because his waiting period has been delayed.

I asked him did you hear God telling you expressly that He will take you to your promise land,

he said yes, then why are you doubting his promise?

He told me that he is just confuse,

sometimes a voice will be telling him that he is just wasting his time, here is the story on how it started,

I quote" early this year i plan to relocate to another country,

a country which i believe without any shadow of doubt in me that my inheritance and blessing are tied there,

but i need a destiny helpers that will take me there.

God created everybody along with their destiny helpers,

I ask God to locate my destiny helpers and bring them on my path,God by his mercy answer my prayer,

in the night of that very day i encounter a dreamed where i was talking with a guy that i know, but we are not best of friend,

immediately i woke up,a voice told me that the young man i saw in my dream is the chosen one,

the next day i went to his shop,I told him that iam looking for somebody that will help me to relocate.

The guy told me boldly that he was born and brought up in that very country,

and the guy promise to help me,i was over happy, that very day we plan on how we will be travelling together.

3 days to our departure,a heavy burden was place on my heart, something bad happen on that very day:

disappointedly on that very day that we agree to travel together,

the guy was no where to be found.

When i return back to my house, out of confussion and frustrated,

i saw myself asking God to forgive me for puting my trust in a man,i don't know why i pray that prayer, after the prayer i slept off.

God gave me a revelation were i saw myself running after a bus with my travelling bag,

but i could not stop that bus, finally i miss the bus, when i woke up that burden was lifted up from my heart,

a kind of peace of mind was replace with it.

A voice gave me instruction, not to depend on anybody to take me to my promise land,

that God will do it at His own time and season, and not to embark on any business untill God take me, to my promise land.

The voice told him that God will use that young man to accomplish His promise,

the voice ask me not to go back to that guy again or to call him on the phone, the voice ask me to look upon God,

and I believe the voice as the voice of the Holy Spirit,

I have not been working or doing any business for six months,no source of income, but God has been providing for me.

There was a time the guy call me on the phone, after the discussion

i make an enquire from God to know if my waiting period has come to an end,in the night of that very day,

somebody gave me an envolope in the dream.

When i open it,i saw Isaiah 52:10-12" when i saw depart ye depart ye,in vers 11, i thought the season of my depature has come,

I now call the guy back, but something happen; another disappointment again,

it was after some days when i was reading the vers 12,which says"for you shall not go out with haste, nor go by flight,

as a matter of fact this guy has been in town for some weeks now.

He has never one day call to say sorry for the disappointment:

How do i encourage this guy, from the story above ?

I think God is in charge, the voice is indeed the voice of the Holy Spirit, not too sure,

just saying my mind, your opinion can be of help.

When i read that Isaiah 52:10-12" with the way the passage in the bible was revealed to him well:

I narrated the full story just for a better understanding, just for us to know the full details of what this my brother in the Lord is passing through.

I don't want to advice or counsel him on my own understanding alone, your opinion and counselling can be of help.

I pray that God will grant anybody that will look into this my post, the grace to understand my english.God bless you all.

My first question - is he really born again? The God of the Bible is not the God of confusion, that is the enemy. Then I would ask - what destiny guides? For a born-again Christian, the Holy Spirit is the soul's guide and there is absolutely NO confusion about what God wants from us because it is all spelled out in the Bible.

Have you asked him who God is to him? Is the God of the Bible his only true God, and Jesus his Saviour? With them there is no confusion only peace and contentment and no need for " guides ".

God bless you for looking into my post: to answer your question, the guy is a genuine born again, seeing is believing, the bible said by their fruit we shall know them, when i was still in the kindom of darkness,i use to fancy his way of life, his christian life is good to emulate,so iam sure he is a very good born again,I believe through the story on how he embark on his waiting period,he need somebody to comfort him and assure him that God is able to take him to his promise land,he knows all this things, but i don't know what has come over him,i believe there is something like waiting period,if there is,how can the person know that God is in control,i believe they where great men in the bible that did something like this, when depression and fear came upon them,Elijah and Moses just come my mind,I trusted this guy,but i don't know who posion his mind, that warranted him to doubt God promise.

My answer to you is simple yet to some difficult. Trust. Trust the One Who died for him.god wants our total unconditional trust that He has everything worked out for our good BUT in " His " good and perfect time, not in ours. That is where we, His children come short. We want His answers our way and, now!! The Bible says - be of good courage and wait on the Lord.

Perhaps your friend is just confused over the promise of the promised country.  We are strangers and pilgrims here on earth waiting and searching for a country like faithful Abraham who looked for a city whose builder and maker is God.  Sometimes we get weary in waiting on our eternal inheritance and destiny.  We as saints of God can in our weariness begin to look with our natural eyes on things that are earthly and our faith will begin to waver.  We are heirs of God through his Son Jesus Christ and have an eternal inheritance.  Our earthly inheritance doesn't compare to the splendar of heaven.  I love the country that I live in but it is not my home even though it is my heritage by birth.  Believers need to "encourage" (and give comfort) to one another "to not be weary in well doing for in "due season" we shall reap if we faint not".  As believers our "longing" (waiting) should be for our eternal home in heaven.

Hi Jerry.

Your friend got tired of waiting only after six months? He must be a very impatient guy :P

Me, I've been waiting for many years already for God to take me to my own Promised Land, and I haven't yet given up...

Your question is, "How will a believer know that God is in charge of their waiting period?"

And my answer is this: While you are waiting God will give you evidences along the way that you are still on the right path, because God knows that our flesh is weak and that we need encouragement from time to time.

And this is what has kept me going on all these years... the encouragements that God gives whenever I got tired of waiting. For God wouldn't encourage me, right, if I was not following his will to keep on waiting?

Brother, actually your post reminds me of my own experiences very early in my waiting period, when I too heard the voices of God, followed in faith, but suffered severe disappointments instead. So I can truly relate with the story you've told, and I can also give you some advice on how to encourage your friend.

First, tell him that not all voices come from God, for Satan and his minions can also speak, and so we need to learn to discern which of these voices we hear really belong to God. Also, tell him that sometimes these "voices" are really our own desires speaking, and not God at all.

Second, tell him that God's mind and God's plans are too much for our small human minds to comprehend. Thus, God leads us step by step only -- and most of the time we have the wrong idea as to where God is leading us. But the important thing is that God knows our journeys, and all we have to do is to trust him.

Third, tell your friend that between his present place and his promised land is a period of wandering in the desert -- a time for growth and preparation. Remember the story of Israel? When God delivered them out of Egypt, he did not immediately lead them to the Promised Land, but into the desert, where they grew and matured into a nation.

Fourth, tell your friend that those disppointments he experienced are simply tests from God. Yes. The questions are, Will he still trust God, in spite of everything that happened to him? Will he still continue to love him? And will he still continue to follow him? One of my greatest victory in faith was when I answered these very questions, right after I experienced a major failure.

Fifth, tell your friend to stop giving deadlines to God. God works in his own time, and any attempt to fit him into our own schedules is bound to fail. In fact, tell him to expect YEARS of waiting, for that is likely what's going to happen.

And last, commend him, for saying that he should not depend on others for his deliverance, but only on God. That is a lesson learned very well indeed :)

God bless you, Brother, and your friend!

You're very welcome, Jerry. I'm glad that I've been able to help :)

By the way, I'm sorry that Ninhao and I weren't able to continue our discussion on your thread about the controversial length of time that Israel had spent in Egypt as slaves. I had to take a break from Worthy, and had agreed with Ninhao that we would resume our discussion when I came back. However, I was gone for much longer than I expected, so that when I did come back, Ninhao is no longer to be found. He had deleted his account.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
