It is so important because eternity is forever. It is specifically about the "second death" of Rev.20, of being cast into the "lake of fire" at the end of Christ's future "thousand years" reign. And that is prophecy. John 3 3 Jesus answered and said unto him, "Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God." 5 Jesus answered, "Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. 6 That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit." This is a very, very simple matter. Our flesh is born of water (in woman's womb; that which is born of flesh), but our spirit comes from God (Eccl.12:5-7). Our spirit must... be born again (from above) by The Holy Spirit to enter into the Kingdom of God. That is done by confessing our sins to Christ Jesus, and confessing Him as God's promised Saviour, and believing by Faith that He died on the cross and The Father raised Him from the dead, to offer us remission of our sins past. In Matt.23:27 when Jesus spoke of the unbelieving corrupt scribes and Pharisees, that they were like "whited sepulchres, which indeed appear beautiful outward, but within are full of dead men's bones, and of all uncleanness", that showed this idea of not being born again by The Spirit, and thus they represented the spiritually dead. In the time after Christ's future second coming, these type of souls that are spiritually dead will still exist throughout His thousand years reign with His elect. These spiritually dead (not born of The Spirit) will be subject to perishing the "lake of fire" at the end of that thousand years, and that is called the "second death", the death of one's soul and spirit, not one's flesh. It was coined by scholars who used only a portion of the Bible plus their limited understanding to create a tradition of man. The only thing that comes close to being spiritual death in scripture is what the Bible calls the second death. But when you realize this pertains to those unbelievers who are raised up from physical death to praise the name of Jesus before being physically destroyed in hell (where their spirit will live on for all eternity), then the second death is also physical. Adam and Eve lived 900+ years according to man's timetable. According to God's timetable, they lived and died in a single day. 2 Peter 3:8 (KJV) 8 But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day. The fallen angels are spirits in their final state. They were created that way. The cannot die and be raised from death in any capacity. We humans are hybrids a mixture of spirit, physical body, and a buffer between the two realities (the soul). In death our body dies, our soul ceases to exist, and our spirit lives on (for unbelievers) in Sheol or ultimately the Lake of Fire, or (for believers) with the Lord in heaven / the new Heaven-Earth once resurrected / perfected. There is no spiritual death.

It was coined by scholars who used only a portion of the Bible plus their limited understanding to create a tradition of man. I had come to thinking that this was a sort of spiritual death. As soon as Adam and Eve disobeyed the Lord, the "robes of righteousness" were removed, and their nakedness was exposed. I don't mean this was a physical robe of white, but more of an innocense was forever lost that day. Very similar to when a child loses the child-like innocense as they get older. Do you recall what portions of the Bible the scholars used to coin this term?

Paul speaking of himself: Romans 7:9 (NKJV) I was alive once without the law, but when the commandment came, sin revived and I died. This passage says nothing about anything spiritual. When read in context I think it's clear that Paul is using death as a metaphor for his being held accountable to the Law
