While I agree that the US is a young country, compared to the vibrant history of Europe and Africa and Asia, I do have to take note of the fact that anti-Christian bigotry and genocide is spreading throughout the world.  It's happening in places where Christianity has been around since the first disciples left their lives behind to follow Christ.  It's happening in Europe with the muslim immigrants and anti-Christian secular humanists.

I don't think it has ever occurred in history where you see the scope and breadth of anti-Christian bigotry on the level it is today.

I still see beauty, yes, but, even so, it's still an ugly place right now.  The earth itself is fractured and broken, crying out for Jesus to come and restore it from the curse.  And people?  Oh my giddy aunt, the people...

But, rather than fret and despair, (and it's difficult at times) I choose to:

  1. Remember that God is still on the throne and in control.
  2. Everything is happening according to His plan.  Nothing catches Him by surprise.
  3. In the moment I read/hear horrible news, I take time right then to pray about it and then leave it with Him.
  4. Remember that Jesus is coming for us sooner than soon!

Every day it becomes more and more apparent just how awful life is. Sometimes I wish I'd been born fifty years ago.

Don't worry, I'm not depressed or anything but each day our future looks more and more grim. Let's hope that God's prophecies have been planned for sooner rather than later.

I can identify.  But, even if you had been born fifty years ago, you'd probably still be alive today to see this same stuff going on!  As difficult as these days are to endure, the silver lining is that we know these things not only must come to pass, but that they are signs of going Home soon!  I'm convinced we're in the final moments of the last days and that we are that last generation who will be alive at the time of the rapture.

I know the spirit in which you made this comment, but I used to take it even further.  I used to claim I was "born at the wrong time."  My lifestyle and personality are more suited to times like the 50's, the Victorian era, pioneer times, etc.,  I longed for those times so much that I would watch a lot of TV shows and movies from those eras.  Then the Holy Spirit got hold of me and convicted me.  None of those times were "innocent" or much "kinder."  Sure, there was an outward pretense of those things, but it was a lie.  Those times all had more than their fair share of sin and debauchery.  The problem is, I had romanticized those time periods in my mind and made them out to be something they weren't.  I've never been so grateful to have a fantasy world come crashing down!  What a trap!  What a deception!  That's one of the reasons I got rid of my TV altogether many years ago.  Not only did I get sick and tired of having sex, violence, vulgar language and every manner of sin shoved down my throat daily (and paying for the privilege), but I was angry at all the hidden traps and deception from it, too.

Not to mention that when I used to say "I was born at the wrong time," that it was insulting God, inferring that He made a mistake with me.

yeah. i WAS born 50 years ago, and i'm still living in this post-Christian world!

oakwood, it pains me, too. but i was never in a hurry for Christ to return, either. i know it sounds terrible, but i've always prayed God would delay His return until my kids were saved. (one has converted to the mormon faith she married in to, the other has just pretty much preferred to dabble in paganism for most of her adult life.) but things are happening. the daughter who has rejected church of any kind for so long went this week. she and her husband and two sons went to church! and they enjoyed it and are planning to go back this next sunday.

maybe the prophecies are ripe for fulfillment. and maybe i'm not dreading them quite as much as i used to.

Every day it becomes more and more apparent just how awful life is.

The term "Post-Christian" is simply another lie from Satan, which is being promoted by those who call themselves "The Emergent Church" or "The Emerging Church" (a phony Christian movement).

Christians should be constantly on guard against the lies of Satan.  There is nothing "Post-Christian" about this world since (a) the Word of God is still being published and distributed, (b) the Gospel is still being preached,  © the Church (redeemed saints) as still on this earth, and (d) the Rapture is still future.

The world will become "Post-Christian" only after the Rapture. In the meantime there is work to be done.

Christians are not to bemoan the state of this world (since we already know that "the whole world lieth in wickedness" and Satan is "the god of this world").  Instead we are commanded to preach the Gospel to every creature (Mk 16:15,16).

The term post-Christian (my definition that is) describes the collapse of Christianity as a respected force in Western civilisation, a decline in church attendance, and the falling away that the Bible so clearly tells us to expect. You can define it however you like.

Of course we're not really in a post-Christian World, I know that, but if you're suggesting that I've been lied to by Satan.... well think again.

I really do get fed-up with people nit-picking at my use of words. I was pretty sure from the context that people would know exactly what I meant. I guess that I was wrong.

Sorry. Didn't mean to nit-pick, but you might want to consider this:

It is not a post-Christian era that we face but a post-humanistic world. Every thinker who evades that fact is past-oriented and blind; he is incapable of preparing anyone for the realities of our present situation. Humanism on all sides is busy committing hara-kiri; it is disembowelling itself wirh passion and fervor; it needs no enemies, because humanism is now its own worst enemy. We have lived thus far in a post-Christian era, and it is dying. The important question is, what shall we do?

I was thinking the same thing! Sheesh! Take it a little easy on the word-smithing. Anvils and hammers can be a wee bit uncomfortable. If it makes you feel any better, I knew what you meant. I'll go back to what I was saying before. I do think it matters where you are. Yes, the world in general is going to Hades in a woven receptacle. (That’s my lame attempt at humor—don’t string me up for referring to a Greek mythological underworld.) If you happen to be living in an area where there are fewer believers, you DO feel it. It makes sense—the Holy Spirit's presence on the earth is the only thing constraining the powers of evil. The more Christians near each other, the stronger the presence is felt and vice versa. I’ve lived in a country where there were very few evangelical Christians. It was like this heavy, oppressive feeling. I never quite understood why. I thought it was just being a foreigner in a land where I was completely dependent on my company, (If they’d screw up the paperwork, hurrah! I’m in jail!) But it was much more than that. I didn’t understand until the missionaries said how different they felt when they crossed the border into ___. The heaviness lifted. I won’t say which countries, lest anyone from them jump down my throat. But it is an experience you wouldn’t soon forget. P.S. While I do sympathize with your reasons for wishing the Lord would tarry, Lady C, I hope He hurries because I don’t want to consider life in this world without my mom and dad. :(  So I’m hoping it’s soon.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
