Oprah pastor: Church will soon embrace gay marriage

Former Mars Hill Bible Church pastor and best-selling author Rob Bell told media mogul Oprah Winfrey on Sunday that the American church is "moments away" from embracing gay marriage and thinks "it's inevitable."

Bell made the statement during a Valentine's weekend episode of Winfrey's "Super Soul Sunday" television show where he appeared with his wife, Kristen, to discuss marriage and their new book, The ZimZum of Love: A New Way of Understanding Marriage.

The same-sex marriage discussion portion of the episode, which can be viewed below, starts at around the 29-minute mark where Kristen begins reading an excerpt from the book.

"Marriage, gay and straight, is a gift to the world because the world needs more not less love, fidelity, commitment, devotion and sacrifice," she noted.

Winfrey then tells the couple that she thought it was great that they made a conscious choice to include gay marriage in the book, and asked them why?

"One of the oldest aches in the bones of humanity is loneliness," replied Rob Bell. "Loneliness is not good for the world. Whoever you are, gay or straight, it is totally normal, natural and healthy to want someone to go through life with. It's central to our humanity. We want someone to go on the journey with."

His response then prompted Winfrey to ask: "When is the church going to get that?"

"We're close," he began, answering slowly before his wife interjected "I think it's evolving."

He then added: "Lots of people are already there. We think it's inevitable and we're moments away from the church accepting it."

Bell warned that if the church keeps resisting same-sex marriage it would "continue to be even more irrelevant."

"I think culture is already there and the church will continue to be even more irrelevant when it quotes letters from 2,000 years ago as their best defense, when you have in front of you flesh-and-blood people who are your brothers and sisters, and aunts and uncles, and co-workers and neighbors, and they love each other and just want to go through life," he said.

"There are churches who are moving forward and there are churches who are almost regressing and making it more of a battle," added his wife.

Well I guess my church and I will fade into irrelevance, cause we will NEVER accept gay marriage.  Its in our by-laws.

This is the line that really got me:

He is saying that the Bible is irrelevant. This truly is a false church.

Not sure about that Oak,  I don't watch or pay much attention to her.    There is another guy who just wrote a book who is gay and claims to be  Christian and it basically flopped.  He might be the one.

A few years ago my Church did a book study on a Rob Bell book and I thought he had some talent.... but over the years he had fallen very far from the faith and started getting weirder with his views. I do not believe he is a Christian at all now. I would never read any of his stuff again.

There have been a number of people meeting and teaching "in the name of Christ" with the demonic New Age teaching queen Oprah Winfrey over the years.

 

Rob Bell, bad news to be sure. I saw him in a video discussing the 7 points of the demonic kundalini “chakra” once. No eternal“Hell” with this false man and his teachings.

 

The Emergent and Council on Foreign Relations member Rick Warren, who embraced and endorsed Dan Kimball's book “The Emerging Church” that I've discussed at the board in the past. Rick Warren and Oprah talked about purpose in life in "Oprah's Lifeclass." He has waffled back and forth on the “gay” issue for some time.

 

No surprise to see motivational speaker Joel Osteen with Oprah either, with “his” hit book “Your Best Life Now!” was also in "Oprah's Lifeclass."

When Oprah asked him “Will a gay person be accepted into heaven, as you see it?,” “I believe they will,” he replied...

 

Oneness Pentecostal (One who does not believe in the trinity of God) and prosperity preacher T.D. Jakes, was with "Oprah's Lifeclass." He did at least make a stance against the homosexual issue when with asked by Oprah...

2Co 6:14-15

(14) Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness?

(15) And what concord hath Christ with Belial? or what part hath he that believeth with an infidel?

 

As far as the homosexual issue goes, many denominations are embracing this and many other sins. Repentance towards Jesus Christ is there only hope.

 

Mar 1:14-15

wow I saw this article I think on Facebook and it is maddening that rob is making claims that the churches will be accepting homosexuality. He does not have authority over the word of God.  He seriously offended me with his statement about how the church is irrelevant because they use letters 2000 years old as their best defensive. Why does the oldness of them matter. Truth is truth no matter how old. so he must think because the Bible is very old it isn't true. wow. How is this guy even a pastor. I wouldn't read books by him or attend his church. False teaching  for sure.
