Yoga Warning

The problem with yoga (any part of it) is that it cannot be detached from its paganism.   Yoga means "joined together."  It is referring to being joined with the Hindu god Brahman which is nor really a god, per se.  It is more like a force and it brings you into union with the universe.   The "stretching"  and sitting the lotus position is all about being in union with the Hindu god/force.   You can't really separate it out or compartmentalize it.  It doesn't work that way.

Participation in Yoga is participation in pagan worship, and it doesn't really matter what your intentions are.  Yoga is not what we make it.  It is what it is, and it is unpleasing to the Lord for us to participate in something like this on any level for any reason, according to His word.

I practiced yoga for about five years, and it got to a point where I could feel something physically rising up to my spine and shoot out of my head. There's the question to which point we are supposed to manipulate our (bodily) functions. As it tends to be with our current state, being more or less blind to the spiritual reality unless discerning or in revelation (God willing), we expose ourselves to danger if we try to open up to something, and that something has nothing to do with Jesus Christ, our risen Lord.

Stretching is ok, of course. In fact, the "ancient tradition" of yoga has more to it than generally thought, apparently. For that,

read Mark Singleton's research in which he points out how yoga and its asanas more precisely, is actually quite modern and has its roots in a Danish form of gymnastics called something like 'primitive gym'.

It was shocking, but not surprising. Do not be fooled to believe we can adapt occult methods and combine them to our faith. I mean, these postures are all about to alter the state of consciousness, and that's nothing but occult. We are not suppose to alter our state of being, other than let God take care of it. Stay away from these practices, I thought too it's safe, but it's not. I would say the same about martial arts. I saw this video, where old Chinese masters could perform a movement and people got knocked over from distance. Interestingly, when these same movements were performed on skeptics, nothing happened. That should prove, that it's about demonic. Why these skeptics were not knocked over, was because they did not believe in the power of kung fu, qi gong whatever. In other words, their minds were not open to the demonic oppression working through these channels.

Why to risk your own well-being by seeing how much of the occult you can copy and how close without it getting to you? Just because you think it's on safe ground does not mean you haven't already given them access. Because, even though it has often to do with our faith, there are also legal rights we sometimes grand to our enemies. Yoga and stuff like that most certainly is like that.

My daughter went when she was younger but felt she had to stop that something was wrong....she loved Karate and had a very difficult time with dealing with it...she loved it so much that she wanted to go back but knew God didn't want her to go back....Praise God for the victory of breaking that stronghold. It was a big struggle.....and it took awhile before she was over it...

Most people do not know what they get into,,we certainly did not expect anything to this degree...

Now Karate is bad?

It seems people are looking for the boogie man under every stone.

No, no one is looking for boogeymen.  These eastern practices are rooted in paganism.  That's just a fact, Alex.

So, is there a Christian way to stretch, breathe or protect themselves?

Question: "Is it right for a Christian to be involved in martial arts?"

Answer:
It is stated by one of the founders of martial arts, Gichin Funakoshi, “The mind and technique become one in true karate.” By polishing our karate practice, he believes, we are polishing our own spirit or our own mentality. Karate is a system that can be considered a “way of life,” merging the spiritual and physical sides of our human existence. A Christian involved in martial arts should have a difficult time finding comfort in the roots of the martial arts. As seen above, they focus much attention on the physical development (which is not a bad thing), but also combine the training with Buddhist or Zen philosophy.

What does the Bible say about the mind? First of all, the heart is “desperately wicked” (Jeremiah 17:9). In the Scriptures, the heart and mind are often considered to be the same thing. Since our hearts and our minds are wicked, we are not able to think clearly about our spiritual situation, and therefore unable to “polish” our own spirits as karate claims it is able to do. We are in need of a Savior to clean our hearts, and develop within us a new spirit.Titus 1:15gives us insight into the mind of the unbeliever: “To the pure, all things are pure, but to those who are corrupted and do not believe, nothing is pure. In fact, both their minds and consciences are corrupted.” The philosophies contained in Buddhism, as well as most all of the religions of the world, are developed by flawed men with defiled minds. They do not offer advice suitable for Christians to follow.

The Scriptures teach us what we are to do with our minds. We are not to conform our thinking to the world’s way of thinking but “be transformed by the renewing of your mind” (Romans 12:2;Ephesians 4:23). The picture inRomans 12:2is like that of a mold we use for making cakes. The batter is placed inside the cake mold, and when the baking is complete, out comes the cake in the same shape as the mold. Our minds are not to be shaped by the world’s mold. We are to set our minds on the things above, not on the things that are on earth (Colossians 3:2). We should train our minds in how to serve the Lord and please Him in all that we do.

While the physical side of martial arts is probably a good form of exercise, and many Christians do participate in martial arts, it may be a dangerous activity to allow the mind to become influenced by the philosophies associated with karate and all other forms of the martial arts. The false religious overtones of Buddhism are there whether they are expressed verbally or not. It would be difficult, if not impossible, to separate the philosophies from the activity, and therefore it would be wise for the Christian to use much caution before participating in this kind of activity.

Most of what 90% of Christians do at Christmas time is rooted in paganism, Easter is rooted in paganism. If you are married and had what is considered a traditional ceremony, then that is rooted in paganism, if you wear a wedding ring, that is rooted in paganism.
