Just connecting the central nervous system to the brain would be an absolute nightmare.

that is probably the only thing stopping this from being done now...

If this were possible paralysis would not be near the issue that it is now with spinal cord injuries. Also, two interesting things stuck out to me in the article, firstly, the acronym being used for the surgery is "HEAVEN," which is interesting, insofar as some would see this as a means of immortality, but we all know the only way to heaven is through Christ. Also, he claims that a large percentage of the letters he receives from people are from transsexuals, which, talk about going to great lengths for a "gender reassignment" (one of the most ridiculous terms ever).

My wife has MS and her doctor works in a research center in Oklahoma city....    I know they are working on things to regrow the nerves in our central nervous center.   They are doing some stage 2 testing on them to replace the nerves that MS has killed.

Also a heart specialist tells me that they are about to test a procedure to take your own stem cells and start them growing and put them into your lungs and regrow healthy lung tissue to fix COPD and emphysema.

There are so many difficulties even with the transplants that are done today. This is such a nightmare to even contemplate medically. You are limited by time because the disconnected head and body have a finite time before they die, even if connected to machines. A matter of hours. Not to mention rejection issues. Ethically I dont see this happening. Medically I dont see this happening.

aaahhhh,    but if you clone the new body from one of your stem cells, there is no rejection.
