When Jesus is being tempted in the wilderness, Satan is speaking God's word to Jesus Such as in Luke 4:10. 'He will command his angels concerning you, to guard you...'

Ok, sounds like a war of words both using God's word. Weird. ? Anyway, I guess the devil can use God's own word in a deceiving way then. How important it is to know the whole Word of God then! Anymore thoughts/explanations on this subject?

This is the Sword of the Spirit but I not see Luke 4:10 mentioned on there:

Question: "What is the sword of the Spirit?"

Answer:
The phrase “sword of the Spirit” is found only once in Scripture, inEphesians 6:17. The sword is one of the pieces of spiritual armor Paul tells the Ephesian Christians to put on as part of the “full armor of God” that will enable us to stand our ground against evil (Ephesians 6:13).

The sword is both an offensive and defensive weapon used by soldiers or warriors. In this case it is a weapon belonging to the Holy Spirit. Swords were used to protect oneself from harm or to attack the enemy to overcome or kill him. In both cases it was necessary for a soldier to get rigid training on the proper use of the sword to get maximum protection. All Christian soldiers need the same rigid training to know how to properly handle the Sword of the Spirit, “which is the word of God.” The sword that Paul refers to here is the Holy Scriptures. We know from2 Timothy 3:16–17that the word of God is from the Holy Spirit and written by men. Since every Christian is on the spiritual battle with the satanic and evil forces of this world, we need to know how to handle the Word properly. Only then will it be an effective defense against evil, but it will also be an offensive weapon we use to “demolish strongholds” of error and falsehood (2 Corinthians 10:4–5).

God refers to His Word as a sword inHebrews 4:12. Here the Word is described as living and active and sharper than a double-edged sword. The Roman sword was commonly made in this manner. The fact that it had two edges made it easier to penetrate, as well as to cut in every way. The idea is that of piercing, or penetrating; the Word of God reaches the “heart,” the very center of action, and lays open the motives and feelings of those it touches.

The purpose of the sword of the Spirit—the Bible—is to make us strong and able to withstand the evil onslaughts of Satan, our enemy (Psalm 119:11,33–40,99–105). The Holy Spirit uses the power of the Word to save souls and then to give them spiritual strength to be mature soldiers for the Lord in fighting this corrupt and evil world we live in. The more we know and understand the Word of God, the more useful we will be in doing the will of God and the more effective we will be in standing against the enemy of our souls.

While Satan is familiar with the Word, he is also a master manipulator and very capable of misapplying, misusing, or misinterpreting the Word deliberately (as he did in Eden as well as in the wilderness with Christ).  The lesson for Christians is:

1. Know the Word thorougly.

2. Understand the Word properly (rightly "divide" means interpret properly).

3. Apply the Word correctly.

4. Do not go beyond what Scripture reveals.

5. Use the most faithful translation, since Satan has also corrupted the Word.

We see in Eden how he corrupted the Word.  Today we see it in all the modern translations, bar none.  They are all founded on the corruptions of Scripture.  The KJB (and all Reformation Bibles) were founded on the true Bible texts.

Hello  Pamelasv

Satan wasn’t “using God’s Word”, he was “mis-using it”...
God’s Word says....
Psalms 91:11-12
V.11  For he shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee in all thy ways.
V.12  They shall bear thee up in their hands, lest thou dash thy foot against a stone.

But in Matthew 4:6, Satan said.....
“And saith unto him, If thou be the Son of God, cast thyself down: for it is written, He shall give his angels charge concerning thee: and in their hands they shall bear thee up, lest at any time thou dash thy foot against a stone.”

Satan left out the words.....  “to keep thee in all thy ways”.
------------------------
Wicked people can make the Bible say anything they want it to say, by simply leaving a word or two out or twisting it slightly.
--------------------------------------------------
As to “the sword of the Spirit” (Ephesians 6:17), this is talking about the powerful and  supernatural quality of God’s Word.  A Christian can use God’s Word to minister to others, in a wonderful way, because God’s Word, is always true and His promises will always be kept.
And His Word can also be used by a Christian, in the same way that Jesus used it in the wilderness.  Three times, in his battle with Satan, Jesus said “it is written” and quoted Scripture.  We can do the exact same thing today, by saying “the Bible says”...
But we must first faithfully study God’s Word every day and memorize it.  Then as God opens it up to us, we can Boldly say, “the Bible says”, and use it for God’s Glory, to minister to ourselves and others.

Yes, the enemy both knows and uses the word of God against believers. How many times have you tried talking to a non Christian who comes back with 'doesn't the bible say.....blah blah blah' as they are trying to prove your unworthy of being heard?

That's an assertion not based in truth. Holy Spirit cuts right through any language and hits home to the spirit of man, no matter what version of modern English we choose to use. Even if one is strictly devoted to the KJV, one is still vulnerable to a corrupt understanding of the word.

I like the nasb. I trust it the most because of what is said of by seasoned teachers. Actually, it is quite similar to the nkjv. But I will no way ever try to learn and understand the kjv. That would by an impediment to someone trying to learn scriptures. Plus, I heard it was all translated from Greek?

Ezra are you a KJV only believer?

Absolutely.  And not because of some *tradition* but because of extensive and intensive research into the Bible version issue.  At the same time people like Peter Ruckman and Gail Ripplinger give a bad name to those who hold exclusively to the KJB.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
