Ok, what about the instances where these spirits help people or in some instances save a life? Those must be angels then, right?

Or I've seen reports of "people", not an apparition or ghost but an actual physical person, appearing on the scene of an accident and helping the injured, and then literally dissappearing. Godly Angels in that case?

Also, one more.  :b:  I've been told of a police report that states that officers were  called to a house because an older gentleman had been found dead in his bedroom. When they got there, an old guy answers the door and says yes, the body is in the back bedroom. The 2 officers go down the hallway, followed by this guy. When they reach the bedroom, they find the body of an old man lying on the bed. When they turn around, the man who let them in is gone. The kicker is, the man on the bed IS the man who let them in, same clothes and all.

This is a true story. I haven't seen the police report personally, but it is well known to have actually happened.

What would you all make of that? The feeling of those involved was he had died and just wanted to be found before he moved on. Now I know this doesn't jive with what the consensus is here on ghosts/spirits, so I'm wondering what you all think.

And thanks for all the responses! This is very interesting!! -_-

Big Steve, I can't help but think that the evil one used this as a possible distraction from Jesus. They (the Police) were instead put to think about the apparition, rather than any possible thoughts of an eternity with or without Jesus.

Just my thoughts. Anyone agree?

Faithie :)

so few people have any idea how to control their spirit to make it, simply move in any given direction... thus... ya'll as a majority, can't swim where ghosts swim.

and since... if we were sinners, unsaved, who's going to be the boat to protect us from the sharks about after we die...

just some things to think, through.

Student, we have our lives to decide WHERE we wish to go. If your line of thinking is to be followed then ghosts would be a continuation of the individual upon death. You just can't compare babies to ghosts, that is absurd ;) Babies are innocent, cannot think for themselves and are new to the world, ghosts aka demons are very knoweldgeable, think and interact with the world and have been here since the fall, ie; longer that you'd realize. Jesus clearly and plainly said that we are either FOR Him or AGAINST Him. It doesn't take a genius to realize that demons who fled at the very thought of Him, would be against The Way, the Truth and the Life. Demons are deception and death, the inherrant opposite.

yes and the babies i refer to are the human souls at the point of death, save a few, who have had any shred of experience in that realm to begin with.

the analogy holds true, you just misinterpted what i was saying

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>

It says somewhere in Scripture that God takes care of the souls who have not met the Lord or who are infants (encompassing the mentally disabled) so therefore this again does not hold water.

A good c/p on the topic:

The Bible says that one third of the angels rebelled against God. Satan (Lucifer) was the angel in charge of this rebellion. These angels were punished by being banished from heaven.

Satan hates man. Man has a relationship with God that angels could never have. Man was made in the image and likeness of God. Satan is jealous of this and hates us for it. He wants to deceive human kind into rejecting God, so that man will share the same punishment that he is destined for.

Satan knows that one single lie wont be effective in deceiving everyone. So he came up with several. Some men would be deceived by Ghosts and reincarnation. Others would adopt an evolutionary philosophy, that the world created itself without God. Others would be deceived into believing in pagan gods, etc...

I believe (and the Bible says) that Satan sends fallen angels to earth to deceive us. Satan wants us to doubt the existence of God. He wants man to share in his punishment.

Part of this deception is the appearance of "ghosts". Satan wants man to believe that these are the spirits of people who have died. That they have overcome the chains of death and returned.

This is opposite of what the Bible says happens when we die. By being presented with these spirits one tends to question if the Biblical destination after death is the correct one. Because if ghosts exist, then clearly heaven does not.

The truth is these "ghosts" are not the spirits of men and women, but rather fallen angels masquerading as our loved ones.

If man believes that he becomes a ghost or is reincarnated at death, he will exclude the possibility of heaven as his eternal home and God as his Father.

Some "ghosts" have appeared to humans claiming that they want to "help" them. They posses a knowledge that only that person could know. Which is convincing to the person involved.

But what that person fails to realize is that angels have existed since God created the world. Angels are "older" than us, and older than our loved ones. They can easily retain knowledge about that persons life that "only they could know".

2 Corinthians 11:14 tells us that Satan and his angels are able to disguise themselves as helpful spirits.

They Can Sound Spiritual. Christians need to avoid so called "divine or spirit-guides." God has given us His Word to guide us and not personal divine messengers. Demons masquerade as angels of light.

And no wonder, for even Satan disguises himself as an angel of light. Again, 2 Cor. 11:14

Demons will quote scripture (Matt. 4:1-11) and they can pronounce Jesus' name. It is error to believe that demons cannot and will not pronounce Jesus name.

"And just then there was in their synagogue a man with an unclean spirit; and he cried out, saying,

I do not believe in ghosts. I believe there are familiar spirits, or the demonic if you will, that will try to imitate dead people or loved ones especially if your thinking about someone you recently lost. IF you read 1 Samuel 28, the story of how King Saul went to the witch of Endor and had her summon up the spirit of the dead prophet Samuel, you see how the Lord feels about such things. Communicating with the dead is not a good thing to do and ghost are considered the spirits of the dead. The new age movement is really into this practice of communicating with the ancestral spirits, spirits of the dead, and they make it look so very appealing and good, especially in movies and on tv shows like ghost hunters or shows that spin a web of a story telling about how some dead persons spirit or ghost comes and rescues or guides someone. Don't buy into that because it is a deception.

I don't know what ghosts are or why they're here, but if ghosts are demons then I have a few questions, if anyone could give their opinion.

When I was a kid I seen a ghost in our kitchen sitting at the table, just a white figure, so did my older sister and also my younger brother, all on seperate occasions, but all in the same house. It never scared me and I never gave it much thought, but it was only that one occasion and nothing ever happened from it. Several years later we moved to the house where my parents still live now, and there we've had many things happen, like hearing footsteps and opening and closing of doors. This is not our imaginations, because we've all heard it, and there was eleven of us living in that house at the time. Anyway, whatever it was never appeared or said anything to us,just the noises, and it's never bothered us in any way. If it was a demon trying to get our minds away from Christ it never worked because we never talk about it to other people or amongst ourselves really. I would just like to know what the whole purpose of this was, if they were demons. Any ideas?

I remember once hearing about How Smith Wigglesworth, a man of God, heard a noise downstairs in his house. He got out of bed to go investigate the noise. When he got downstairs, there, sitting in his rocking chair was the devil himself, rocking back and forth. Smith simply looked at him and said "OH, It's only You"...turned around and went back upstairs to bed. And that's all it is...just the devil.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
