Saved Ricky,

I disagree. Having children is a gift not a right. And I don't believe we should be circumventing the natural order of creating children.

The act of creating a child creates a bond between husband and wife. Adding a lab tech into the mix I don't feel is right.

First off in order to be able to harvest the mans seed you have to do so in a sinful way

If it's Gods will, it will happen

I'm not sure if this can be explained delicately or not, so my question regarding how it is sinful should maybe be ignored. I hadn't considered the how, etc. I'll do some research.

I have to say that I'm having a lot of difficulty trying to decide what to do.   I'm wondering if embryo donation is more acceptable than egg donation, especially if the embryo is possibly already in existence.  Also, I'd like to see whether you think that it's important for donor children to grow up knowing who their genetic mother and father is?  If using an egg donor, it's possible they would know one of their genetic parents.  If embryo adoption or egg donation is acceptable, then is it ok to have treatment in an institute that creates embryos to help people who want to have a child?  There is so much to think about and that's all I seem to be doing.  I don't want to be childless because it is something that makes me very depressed and adding to my anxiety.

Thanks to all for your replies and thoughts on the subject.

Yes it is best to know your genetic parents, for it is remotely possible though not likely that someone else has done the same thing and you might actually marry your brother or sister and create little weirdo's when having a new generation of children.    It is also medically sometimes helpful if you know of any genetic problems that might be passed on to you.

As for using someone else's eggs (fertilized or not) I don't remember reading anything in the Bible that I could say says no.    I think it would be best to either use an egg or sperm from your own family if possible.   That's just my personal feelings about it.

I can't think of anyone in my family that I could ask.  With regard to the medical institutions that provide egg and sperm donations, the donors are screened for any genetic problems that could be passed on but they are anonymous donors and there is no way to contact the donors.  It's difficult to know what to do for the best.

On embryo adoption:

From a moral point of view, I see no difference between adoption of an embryo and adoption of a baby post-birth. It's just happening at an earlier stage.

The difficulty is that embryo adoption involves some of the elements of IVF. The embryo has to be introduced into the womb artificially. There is a fairly high failure rate, which makes the process very stressful for the couple.

I would look at it this way... the embryo already exists (it is someone else's 'spare'). If not adopted, it will be allowed to die. By adopting it, OK it may not implant but at least it has a chance of survival. And I believe it should be given that chance.

I don't think the fear of congenital abnormalities is very relevant. WHENEVER we have children, even by the 'natural' method, we run this risk. We have to trust that God will give us only what He knows we can cope with.

As with children adopted in the 'normal' way, it is best for them to know from an early age that they have been adopted.

I think Judas Mc is correct .  Have you tried adopting a baby ? This would be the only truly correct way .

It's not sinful. The "harvesting" is done as a medical procedure with a needle. Your research should fill in the details.

I personally would advise against it. The creation of a human being should be done they way God intended for it to be done. I'm trying to keep it "G" rated.

A husband and wife are to come together and if it's God will life will come from it. By introducing a lab technician you are no longer coming together as husband and wife, uniting as one flesh (Gen2:24). You are introducing and outside source to create that life.

Just my Canadian nickel.

I entirely agree with you . This totally against God's plans and those who who say it is like adoption are deceiving .In the case of adoption, a baby is concieved in a natural way and for some reason the parents are not there to bring it up .The child can find that their parents were a real couple ,and that they were made in the way that God intended  .  That scientists subvert the laws of God ,and play at being Him breaks the first and second commandments and is a sign that a secular power ,satan, is ruling modern society .

What if the embryos already exist though?  What should be done with those that have already been created?  I think that in the medical institutions which provide donor eggs and sperm treatments, the left over embryos are kept as back ups.  Shouldn't those embryos be given an opportunity to develop as well?  The only problem is that the donors are anonymous.

What is your evidence that this is against God's will...at most you can say I believe it's against His will for me but without scriptural proof of it being against God's will you have no right to say you are absolutely correct and someone else is absolutely wrong.

What would you tell an embryo adopted child with anonymous donors?  I definitely think it's important for them to know they're adopted.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
