Interesting article. I know that their has been talk for years about basing the oil trade on the euro as opposed to the dollar and this could have devestating efffects on our economy in itself.

Boy to go back to the days when the U.S. was a production oriented country as opposed to a service oriented one. These are uncertain times, thats for sure.

This is a very real issue. I suggest you read http://www.lifeaftertheoilcrash.net and http://dieoff.org I would state it in another way though.

Industrial civilisation is utterly dependent on fossil fuels for its existence. No other energy source in existence is capable of replacing it at present. According to Matt Simmons, an advisor to president Bush and the man in charge of the largest energy investment bank in the world (Also a life long petroleum geologist) Saudi Arabian oil production has peaked. This imples that global production has either peaked or is at the plateau just before production goes into a permanent decline at about 3% per annum. He seems to be correct. Production from Saudi has been in decline for a couple of years now. Global refineries are at 95-99% of capacity and new discovery of oil has been in decline since the late 70s. In 2003 no significant new oil fields were found at all. Consumption is running at about 4 barrels to every one discovered.

The implications of this fact are enormous. Everything from industrial agriculture to production of pharmaceuticals is dependent on oil or natural gas (Fertilisers are made from natural gas) Methane production in North America is already in decline to the extent that large numbers of Liquid Natural Gas ports are being built in the United States to allow the importation of LNG from places like Russia and the Middle East. Global production of LNG is also going to peak in the near future.

For every calorie of food you eat in a western country 10 calories of fossil fuels are used in agricultural machinery, artificial fertilisers, pesticides, refrigeration, packaging and transport. The process is unsustainable in the long term.

Most electricity generation in the United States is powered by natural gas. Unlike oil where a field goes into a gentle decline after peaking a gas field just stops when it is exhausted. There is no political will to invest heavily in renewable energy because of the nature of the political and financial systems currently dominant in the West because renewables remove economic power from central control. There is no time to produce an effective non fossil infrastructure because of the nature of the financial markets.

The global economic system is based on a process called fractional reserve banking. It works in the following way. Say I have $100 dollars and I give it to the bank to look after for me. The bank will then lend most of that money out to others and make interest on it at a higher rate than it gives me. This is forbidden in Christianity (As it was before about the 16th century) and in Islam for a very good reason. It inevitably increases the money supply and creates inflation. It leads to fiat currencies that are dependent on permanent growth and ends up with the banks owning everything. A lot of economists forget that the economy is based in the real world. It ultimately boils down to energy and our current energy supply is a finite resource. Our economy is based on permanent growth and in the real world that is impossible. It will crash as soon as the energy supply begins to contract.

Fiat based currencies are also forbidden by the US constitution for similar reasons but this particular part of the constitution was ignored by a portion of the financial elite and nobody seems to have noticed.

http://www.answers.com/topic/fractional-reserve-banking

And the following by Congressman Ron Paul of Texas (Republican I think) covers the situation pretty accurately as far as the economy goes.

http://www.house.gov/paul/congrec/congrec2003/cr090503.htm

The United States is particularly vulnerable to the situation but the whole world will be profoundly affected. It has been caused by the ascendence of GREED, LUST for power, a REFUSAL to love, and by the rampant rising of the beast who's name is Capitalism, Authoritarianism, Industrialism, Stalinism, Nazism, Corporatism and all the other isms that reject love of your neighbour and promote love of self, luxury and money at all cost including the lives of the innocent and the natural world on which we all depend for our lives. We were given stewardship of the earth. Not the right to destroy it.

Hierarchy is a trap. It leads to the dominance of the most vicious, the most competitive, most corrupt and most capable of deception. It leads to the dominion of the beast.

This beast is a dead thing. It is a cold system that exists only for it's own sake. It's name is MAMMON and it's worshippers are LEGION. It has been in dominance since the emergence of the first great hierarchies in places like Babylon and it's day is almost done.

It has eaten the earth. It has eaten the earth so thoroughly that it can eat no longer. It will die in the very near future and in it's death throes it will kill BILLIONS.

Your only option now is to follow Christs words. The only way out is to work with your neighbours and loved ones and create a sustainable lifestyle. You must cherish the earth and love your enemies. FOR IF YOU DO NOT YOU WILL DIE IN THE CHAOS THAT COMES

The rapture is a joining with God and with each other. It is a rediscovery of the intimacy of spirituality and it is a global awakening which will lead to a time of miracles. IT IS NOT A BODILY TRANSPORT TO A NICER PLACE the New Jerusalem will be here on Earth, and those who do not love will never achieve it. It is in progress and the only requirement is to love with all your heart. Religious sect or dogma is irrelevent. It makes no difference if you call yourself Christian, Buddhist, Moslem or for that matter anything else. The meek shall indeed inherit the earth.

http://www.energybulletin.net/4514.html

The time is now. Check the facts. Discard your prejudices and most of all love your friends, your neighbours and your enemies. The alternative is separation from God and your extinction.

19 and if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book.

20 He which testifieth these things saith, Surely I come quickly: Amen.

Indeed. And also why our government (In the UK) Is in the process or repealing Magna Carta in a great hurry. They're abolishing Habeas Corpus. I'm a director of a non profit sustainability company and I was lobbying them for much of last year to push for sustainability to secure our food supplies at a local level.

They won't even discuss it but the the smell of fear was palpable.

They can't even imagine working towards a sustainable system because it means backing off from the Corporate world and making rational choices about how we approach our economy and ulitmately that means going back to a locally based system. No more supermarkets, shared transport, renewable energy, producing most food in the immediate neighbourhood and downsizing pretty much everything.

Looks like they've opted for business as usual until it crashes and burns.

The war on terror is bogus. It's an attempt to create scapegoats to hide the real culprits in the situation rampant industrialism and the unrestrained pursuit of profit.

The thing is that the whole situation is about to become obvious to pretty much everybody and at that point there'll be such a howl heard around the world as has never been heard before. I'm deadly serious about getting together with your neighbours and friends and working out how to feed, water and power yourselves in a sustainable way. Look into permaculture and ecological agriculture. Wallmart's about to bite the dust. Get out of debt as fast as you can because the Neocons are going to do some pretty horrific things to debtors soon. The bankruptcy legislation going through the US government right now looks like they intend to reinstate some sort of system of peonage. Dissent will be treated very harshly. We're in for seriously hard times. The rich will do anything to try and keep their power intact even though it's impossible. I just hope they manage to avoid using the nukes.

Considering that a bit over 50 of the top microbiologists and/or chemical warfare type of scientists have been murdered over the past 9 years, I think it most likely will come as a virus or something of that sort. To reach a sustainable plateu the population of the earth must be dropped below 1 billion. I think it was somewhere around 700 million in the documents I saw last year.

I agree that we can look forward to a lot of bad things on the horizon. I am thinking it may well be time for me to go home....... at least I am starting to hope. Heaven sure looks good from this perspective, yes sir/mam it really does.

That figure is for population at the current levels of energy use I think. I suspect the sustainable number might be considerably higher with an approach that works with nature but the bioweapon scenario does look like a possible response.

We're ripe for a pandemic in any case. H5N2 avian flu has a 75% fatality rate. It looks like a likely candidate. Some sort of synergy of disaster is in progress in any case. There have been a huge number of earthquakes in the last few months. (Check out the USGS) Global warming is kicking in to such an extent that we're on the verge of a runaway greenhouse effect and with global dimming once peak oil happens and the particulates stop going into the atmosphere due primarily to a reduction in aircraft in use there will be a pretty hefty spike in global temperatures over a very short period of time. Add to that ecological system failures due to species loss, toxic overload and the effects of overpopulation and you'll see a pattern of physical limits that will all hit at once. Possibly hitting the west hard for the first time with an economic collapse that starts in the US in the next 12-18 months. The dieoff's already started in some of the developing world.

The war on terror is bogus.

So, like, terrorists didn't really blow things up and kill innocent people over the past 50 years or so?

If I look close enough, I'll be able to see the twin towers intact and their falling was all a trick of computer graphics? Or, perhaps they were never built in the first place and they were simply images projected onto a micro-thin screen using laser technology? :whistling:

Hmm, so that means all of those 3,000+ people that supposedly "died" that day were really wax replicas of people who were kidnapped just days before the towers fell....if they fell at all, of course......that is, if they were ever built in the first place..... :taped:

Now I'm really confused!

Actually, on second thought, I'm not.

Your statement above grates on my soul. Too many people I knew have died trying to get the ones that either did the deed, or supported them in physical ways, to accomplish their stated mission of killing every American they can.

The war on terror, what ever the root causes, is very real. It may be that it is a by-product of other matters, real or perceived, but it is very real.

Thanks,

t.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
