Bo, see here's what we agree on:  Yes, the passage in 1 Timothy 2:9-10 talks about women "adorning" or dressing themselves in modest apparel. The passage even says with propriety which meant at the time without braided hair, gold, pearls, or costly clothing.

I think where we see things differently: The passage doesn't define modest apparel other than what is stated above. Upon further inspection the instructions in this passage from Paul was for when women prayed in public:

1 Timothy 2:8-10 (ESV)

⁸ I desire then that in every place the men should pray, lifting holy hands without anger or quarreling; ⁹ likewise also that women should adorn themselves in respectable apparel, with modesty and self-control, not with braided hair and gold or pearls or costly attire, ¹⁰ but with what is proper for women who profess godliness—with good works.

Apparently there were some questions as to what orderly worship meant and how people were to conduct themselves.

Well, I don't really want to believe as I wish, lol.  I was only discussing what you and GoldenEagle were saying, which pertained to respect.  Are you saying we have no obligation to show respect, unless we believe a person has earned it?  Maybe, as in other posts, I don't have a good grasp of how everyone defines respect?  I simply thought GoldenEagle was making a good point, especially with the scripture he provided.  

Hmbld and Bo (or Ezra too) I guess defining terms is a good idea. Is this a a good working definition for the sake of our conversation?

Definition of respect: a feeling or understanding that someone or something is important, serious, etc., and should be treated in an appropriate way

The fact that God created man in His own image has a tremendous bearing on showing respect to others. It even applies to why murderers must face the death penalty, because the ultimate in disrespect is murder (Gen 9:6). Therefore Christ said that those who hate in their hearts are murderers, and those who slander others bring severe judgement upon themselves (Mt 5:21,22). Thus we come to Romans 13:7,8, where God commands us to give everyone the honour due unto them.  Indeed, the Bible commands Christians to consider others as "better" than themselves (which is not the easiest thing to do).
