Why write GOD as G-D?

Why write GOD as G-D?

I have noticed that some people write GOD as G-D, is this the habit of writing English for religionary using,is that for show the respect?

When i write back and forth with Jews I right G-D not God its Just respect 1 Corinthians 9:20a To the Jews I became like a Jew, to win the Jews. , but when i talk with non-Jews i just write God.

The only time I write "god" is when I refer to items that people worship or place as their god, such as money, cars, etc. But when I refer to the one true God, I always captalize the "G".

In truth in/before Old Testament times the Jewish people did not have a vowel system such as that of the English language today. Also, as it has been already stated it was a form of respect. There were not many Jews that would tend to call on the name of the Lord.

When I refer to God, or anything that refers to Him, I always capitalize the word. I believe that it shows respect and reverence for the Lord.

Constant, I also feel uncomfortable when people write "god" instead of "God".

Well the problem is that the Old Testament teaches us, as it did the jews of that time to call on His name, Praise His name, and exalt His name. So, this tradition is nonsense.

Besides the New testament NEVER DOES THIS. The Words for Lord and God are spelled out every time, as are every qoute from the Old Testament where the word Lord or God appears. None of the inspired writers cared to hyphenate Lord or God when qouting the Old Testament, even though they knew many Jews would be reading their writings.

I say dispense with these unBiblical traditions, as the Bible teaches us to.
