True neither are an outstanding moral example, but then again we weren't voting for America's Pastor.

Some of the reason is that America was tired of a leader 'leading' from behind and Trump presented himself as a more decisive leader than Hillary....

Trump reminds me of Custer, but bold decisiveness can prove fatal if based on faulty assumptions.

I think Congregationalists vote for their pastors, but my fellow Catholics don't elect their clergy.

I think what Patriot said was interesting -

`So even if trump destroys the country, well, we were on the last legs anyway. He presented pretty much the best chance of our countries survival, and I'm not going to hold his sins against him.`

As someone looking from another country (Aussie) what came to my mind was -

`Hope deferred makes the heart sick.` (Prov. 13: 12)

Many people in America are looking to the man to `Make America great again,` & when that doesn`t happen but actually gets worse, they will be ripe for us helping them look to the Lord. Though of course many will look to another `man,` who will come with great promises, not only for America but the world.

Marilyn.

Actually, the Devil would prefer to have people becoming pessimistic rather than optimistic. Worry and fear come from Satan, not from God. Christians should be convinced of some facts at this time, when socialists and communists funded by evil globalists want to utterly destroy America:

1. Christians prayed that the evildoers would not attain power, and God heard and answered their prayers.  This is a fact, not wishful thinking. I have posted another thread regarding Divine intervention during this election.

2. America has been the bastion of freedom and the Gospel for a long time, and until the Lord comes, the Gospel can go out powerfully if America is strong and Christian liberty is preserved and encouraged.

3. Trump's right-hand man -- Pence -- is a committed Christian who is now in charge of leading Trump's transition team, and he will undoubtedly influence Trump is his decisions.  He thanked God for this victory.

4. Christians should rejoice that an evil witch did not get the highest office in the land, and that Trump is already showing skill and wisdom before he takes office.  Read and study what has been posted on https://www.greatagain.gov/.

5. Christians should pray that Donald Trump and his team will be preserved and protected from every attack, and that Satan will not succeed at this time. Rather, that the swamp will be drained, and sanity and integrity be restored to government. Also that the rioters will be shut down very shortly in spite of the billions that George Soros is pouring into creating chaos, violence and hatred.

6. As to "looking to the man", Christians should also be clear that neither America nor any other nation is a theocracy, but America has the best system of government in the world, bar none, and Trump was elected fairly and constitutionally.

I told several friends that I don't want to live in a socialist nation.  Period.  Progressives have a strong undercurrent of an anti Christian agenda.  Hillary and her aides even emailed that they would have to change Catholic and evangelical beliefs to be able to further their agenda.  They also follow Paul Alinsky's methods in Rules for Radicals to promote political unrest to overthrow our government and promote Marxism.  Lying and deceit in government is part of the stated agenda.  Americans began to get wise to the subterfuge and the hidden agendas.  The Obama administration went so far as to manhandle and threaten people who opposed them.  That is typical of historical Chicago politics.  We are tired of the corruption.  Obama has been circumventing our legislature and creating laws, which is not part of the abilities the constitution has given him.  He has usurped them.  Some have been repealed by our courts but not all.  So he has given orders to not enforce the immigration laws that we currently have in place leaving our borders wide open to the mob rule that pervades much of Mexico.  He has justified and encouraged the violence against police in our nation even when police were found innocent of wrongdoing.  The list goes on.  Hillary is more of the same and has been a part of the problem as his secretary of state.  We do not live in a democracy.  We are a republic.  That means that popular vote does not prevail here.

So Trump is an unknown.  But he has given us a list of conservative judges that he would choose from to appoint to our supreme court.  He chose a conservative running mate.  He has surrounded himself with conservative advisors for the most part of which a few are Christians.  Even a crude, rude braggart  is better than voting for anti-christian anarchy and Marxism.  And the press has given Hillary a free ride and really reached to find things wrong with Trump, to the point of ignoring any good he has done.  This was even more pronounced as i watched CBS election returns and listened to their commentary.  Much of the civil unrest is also encouraged by our major news channels and newspapers.  All of this  actually started in the 50s with liberal universities turning out educators who studied Alinsky.  Hilliary studied his methods in the late 40s!

By the way, Marilyn when was the last time you lived in our country?  I doubt that you have a fair perspective.  It is not all the evil you see in the news or the movies.  I don't deny that we have faults, but your attitude seems quite jaded. I am not sure there is more wrong here than in Europe or even Australia.  All have sinned and fallen short.  No one is good, not not one.

Hi Willa,

Fair enough comment sister. I have never lived in America. However I do know God`s word which says -

`We know that we are of God, and the whole world lies under the sway of the wicked one.` (1 John 5: 19)

I do not esteem one country above another, as all are under Satan`s sway at the moment, till the Lord judges him & the nations. It did seem to me that Ezra had great pride in his country, whereas God`s word tells us -

`He who glories, let him glory in the Lord.` (1 Cor. 1: 31)

Also, Ezra said - `America has the best system of government in the world, bar none.` So to me we seemed to be looking at a different country, for God says -`...the borrower is servant to the lender,` (Prov. 22: 7) and we all know that America (& other countries) owe trillions of dollars. So `this best system of government in the world, bar none,` (as Ezra stated) has made its people `servants.`

regards, Marilyn.

Electing Donald Trump has set the progressive socialists back at least a decade, longer than that if Trump serves well for 8 years. I think that people woke up finally and saw what democrats were doing to this country. The lessons of the last few years have been very painful. I can't imagine why so many people wanted more of the same. We now have a chance to turn things around. This is a great opportunity God has given us, and I hope that it isn't wasted.

You are so right about the debt, Marilyn.  Obama managed to do about 18 trillion of that--by far the most--and much of it went to pay offs and to China at his discretion.  Our congress was stupid enough to turn over huge amounts to him to use carte blanc.  I have wondered if he was trying to bankrupt us and very early told NCN (Nigel) that I had doubts if he had our country's best interests in mind.  He continually told us he wanted to "spread the wealth around" and that meant the wealth of the middle income to all who wanted to come illegally and to our country's political enemies.

Our constitutional government has served us well.  But I do cringe at boasting whether from our members or from our president elect.  Pride does go before a fall.  I often think of a book I read many decades ago called "The Ugly American".   If we have been blest, it has been because of His grace, and because we have supported Israel.  But I have to add that material blessing can become a god as well and the love of money is the root of all evil.  We are also told that in the last days there would be a god of powers.  Whether that is energy or the control of people or nations is something I have pondered.

Encouraging is that there are now a higher percentage of Bible believing Christians here than in the past. Perhaps the large cities is where faith is dying, especially those on our coasts and the Great Lakes.

I also suspect that other forms of government may work better for some nations, and just because ours had worked for us, it doesn't mean that we should impose it on others.  Our founding fathers have indicated that should we turn away from God, our form of government would not work well.

Forgive my random reflections.

Blessings,

Willa

No, it is not the system of government, but the abuse of power and the false socialistic ideology of those appointed to serve that has created the massive debt. The system of government has built in checks and balances, but it was designed for honest men and patriots. Buying votes through the creation of a welfare state was dishonest.  A recent study shows that almost all the tax income in the USA is swallowed up by entitlement payments.
