We get advice all the time from different people abt different things. So its important to discern the good from the bad. Over my years I've gotten a ton from the unsaved and some professed Christians. Some are so ridiculous its a mystery if the people are serious ,crazy or trying to destroy u under the facade of friendliness.Whatt are some if the oddest or worst advice u ever got abt yr life, walk with God or otherwise?

1I was told by numerous people that I should fornicate or when I'm married my wife will be unhappy at my inexperience and cheat on or leave me.

2) one friend basically told me I need a vacation, nothing church related(I had a missob trip the previous year that I enjoyed). They then proudly said that they decided to go church only twice a month as if that some great purposeful achievement

Howabout you?

Just because they say they are a Christian does not make them a Christian. A born again Christian will give you advise according to what the Bible tells us. A born again Christian needs to have very good discernment especially in the world we live in today. There are maybe two people on this whole earth that I would take their Christian advise.

I was told that a rabbit's foot was lucky. Then I shot a rabbit and as I cleaned and dressed it for dinner, I came to a different conclusion.

Over the years Ive learned a wonderful balance...this came after alot of ..maybe goodwilling christians who were on different parts of their christian journey....who made things worse for me/just plain confused me.After the worst of one of those times I remember God coming to me and saying "Im right here"  ..in my heart I felt Him saying ok its fine to get some advice from people but then you need to come spend alot of silent time with me and let me love you and talk to you because noone knows you like I know you....and He was/is right. We are all in different places on this journey and noone knows us like He does because He made us so very individual.

You don't think that says something about you, more than about others maybe?

If I said that (not that this applies to you), I hope someone rebukes me for my pride and stubborness, if I get to where I think that I have more wisdom that everyong on earth, beyond one or two people. Either that, or rebuke me for my foolishness, in not accepting good advice from the wealth of it available to me.

I do not look at it as pride and stubbornness Omega. I look at fruit of the Holy Spirit in a Christian. I put on my discernment. The Bible tells us not to be unevenly yolked in marriage and friendships. There is good old "wisdom" that I will occasionally pick up but that is very far and few between. I am kind to everyone. Take advice from everyone? No.

1 Corinthians 15:33  Do not be deceived: “Evil company corrupts good habits.”

2 Corinthians 6:14  Do not be unequally yoked together with unbelievers. For what fellowship has righteousness with lawlessness? And what communion has light with darkness?

Well, of course it is good to be kind to all, loving even. I also of course would agree with the value of the scriptures you posted. Of course you do not consider it pride or stubborness, if you did, I feel certain that you would address that.

My concern or curiousity though, does not related to unequal yoking, or light and dark, of anything to do with unbelievers.

What you said was that there were maybe two people on the whole earth that you would take advise (sis) from. Sure not most of them would be good candidates, if you narrow it down to just those who speak English, that leaves only 375 million people to chose from. Let's assume, that only 1% of them are Christian, that leaves you with 3 million, 750 thousand. Let's further assume that of those, only 1/10 of 1 percent, are wise enough to meet your standards. Than leaves you with a scant 3 thousand 750 people.

However, to you, you can find only 2 people or less. You don't see why I find your view of people to be downright scary? If I though the human population was that bad off, so underualified to offer advice, I don't think I would listen to anything that anyone said, and would be constantly depressed (well maybe not, but I should be).

Do you see where I am coming from? By contrast, I think I could probably find several hundred in the church I attend, who I would be willing to get advice from, and I think I am distrustful and skeptical!

I know you won't take my advise then, lol, but if I were you, I would check under the hood of my discernment!

Sorry creativemechanic, didn't mean to derail your thread.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Daniel: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 3

      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this study, I'll be focusing on Daniel and his picture of the resurrection and its connection with Yeshua (Jesus).

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
