Is it even a reality anymore? Stay off the internet totally, other than that no. I have friends retired in the Smoky mountains who have no internet, no cable TV, no smartphones or any of the like. The only thing tying them to the "grid" as it were is satellite radio subscription and some magazines they get in the mail. But if you are on the net, then no you cannot. With the new rules that went into place on Thursday, even just the use of a VPN is probable cause for the FBI or other law enforcement agencies to look at your content. If you have a device that is connected to the web and it gets hijacked and used in a DOS attack law enforcement now has the authority to access your entire network, even though you were just an innocent victim whose devices was taken over for a short time. For example let's say you have a smart appliance and it gets used in a DOS attack, the FBI can now look at your home computer(s) if it is tied to that appliance. In the mid '70's I lived at Tolstoy Farm (a commune in WA.), forested area, no running water (used the creek), no gas (used wood stove and kerosene lamp), no electricity, a log cabin in the dead of winter. Never recommend it for older people...like I am now. This couple is not young at all, they are in their mid 60s. But they have power and running water and even an old fashioned land line. They also have a wood burning stove for heat and a root cellar full of food a garden and a small orchard.

Wow Yowm!! Years ago at a church I used to attend, I was introduced to a Christian guy who used to be in the occult and I remember distinctly being afraid to talk to him - (I have to add though, it was just my own fear - no prompting of any sort) Edited December 3, 2016 by HisFirst
