I'm sorry, Thats what they were doing to us philosophers, asking questions we couldn't possibly answer. but i know that there are alot of different views on how the bible should b taken. and to let you know i was brought up in a christian family and at one time was very religious. but then i opened my eyes and chose to seek things out, why study only one thing? why not get a better view of all the OPINIONS on our existance. and please share your opinions with me. i'm very open. I guess i'm used to hearing from extreme fundamentalists. one of the sites i found was www.raptureready.com they really get at philosophers, and i guess they just gave me a bad view of some christians.

Hi Philosopher...good to meet you and listen to your interesting inquiries.

I suppose you had to consider things in philosphy like 'can a wednesday have a ceiling/' or 'if a tree falls in the forest and no one hears it does it make a sound?' etc etc...my wife had a similar back-ground...fun but really pointless at times.

I think there is only one way that the Bible should be taken and that is the way G-d intended..,some allegorical, some poetical, prophetic and mostly factually historic... generally the context and style determines the reading.

It is good that you broke free from the bondage of religion...that can be a snare to the soul of man...but perhaps you threw out the baby with the bath-water and are beginning to reflect that there was some substance to the truth behind the facade of the religious trappings.

There is nothing wrong with studying other religions...I do it all the time in an effort to understand where people are coming from...but none of them can truely offer the forgiveness of ALL my sins,a personal encounter with the Living G-d and an eternal destiny through the death and ressurection of Jesus the Messiah.

I think all of them without exception try to get you to do things and become religious/pious...whereas the Bible says you are totally helpless and wretched and can do nothing to extricate yourself from your predicament...but having said that shows us that Jesus has done everything ...He took our sins upon Himself...He has paid the price for our sin...will we trust Him...and repent and believe.

By the way Creation was 6 days not 7.

Regards. Botz.

so r u saying u only belive in christianity becuase theres a heaven? and that you will go there for beliving in god? i really don't care about a heaven. i'm not greedy and if i had the choice to either sop living and go to the void, or live eternaly i would choose to go to the void. life would get boring and i think that people who would take eternal life r greedy and seek power, not whats good. christianity has a catch to greedy people, heaven. everything your hearts desire is there. i think god should send people who r just christian becuase of that fact to hell, and in fact i think thats the only ones who r there. i think that if there is a heaven or a hell, and god chooses who goes were, non-belivers would go to heaven if they had good intentions.

There will be others who will try to answer your questions. I personally have not been a follower of Jesus very long. I have not read much of the Bible but I am still learning.

I can tell you why I believe. One night I looked at what had become of my life. I was in a self destructive cycle with so little love for myself that I had none to spare. I took a chance on God and asked "whoever was listening" for help. I asked to be saved from myself because I could see that I had become my own worst enemy.

The next day I noticed differences in myself. I no longer "wanted" a cigarette. I no longer thought beer would make me happy. I began to notice the negative effects of cafine. All of these I gave up without any cravings or withdrawls except one. I experienced almost a week of persistent headaches after giving up sodas and coffee. But I go to sleep faster and I have less trouble waking up and getting going in the mornings.

I know that this was not of my own doing. I asked for help and I got it. If there is no God then try to tell me how it is I gave up cigarettes without any cravings. Only when you ask for and receive your proof will you ever be conviced. If you don't want to hear what you have already labeled as imagination, you will never hear what we are saying or see what we see. To know the truth you must be prepared to surrender to it.

welcome to worthy

You seem to have a lot of biases and misconceptions about Christianity. God is not decieved. He knows who truly love Him. Those who truly seek the Lord will be saved. For me, I wanted to know the Lord. I sought Him in many different directions, all sorts of beleifs. I only found Him when I accepted His Son. He changed my life in an instant.

As far as carbon dating, they throw out a lot of samples that come back with dates that dont fit their preconceived notions of dating. I know this first hand. It is not at all as accurate as people think.

Can't argue against this sort of logic...you are your own man and free to make your own choices..if you would rather go to Hell I am sure you will not be disappointed.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Daniel: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 3

      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this study, I'll be focusing on Daniel and his picture of the resurrection and its connection with Yeshua (Jesus).

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
