I will not ride alone with a woman, nor should a woman invite shame upon herself and me by doing so.

It was a long walk from the church that day my Jeep broke down. So yeah, I got a ride home with a Christian brother from my church. I don't feel any shame at all. I wonder what Jesus would do? Leave me to walk the 5 miles back to town. Of would he have given me a ride? Interesting thought.

In most cases,  it would be no challenge whatsoever.

That is true.

I think the rule of love over rules all of this. I mean are you really going to leave some poor women alone with no way to get home just because you are afraid someone might think you are sinning by giving her a ride? Just thank about it. Is this really what Jesus called us to do?

Riding in a car with a member of the opposite gender is not a form of evil.

I agree

Where does the shame come in? why must it be the woman that invites shame?

No wise man will ever want to risk his reputation, nor that of any woman, for the sake of sharing a lunch, a dinner, or any  social or work related occasion.

Yeah that is why Jesus never ate with sinners or talked to the women at the well who was alone.  He was worried about his reputation.

That's not what we are talking about.  What is being discussed is situations where  a married man and a married woman are alone together and while their meeting, say, at a restaurant is completely innocuous and innocent, it could end up fueling a rumor mill, and tarnishing their testimony, as a result.  Avoiding the appearance of evil means avoiding potentially compromising situations.

Good thing He didn't do that today, He would have been called to the carpet for it.

This was my question as well.

Except that neither of them were married.   So that doesn't really fit the discussion here.
