I'm thinking I don't have to respect anyone as defined above, or as I believe God tells me in His word.  If they hold authority over me, only then do I have to respect their authority. Thanks for the color you added to your post. It usually depends on where I am posting from whether I take the time to add color.

Sometimes it is hard enough to have to like someone, but going that step further to loving someone. And just in case we are unsure of what it means to love, just one of the places we get to look at is 1 Corinthians 13

Love is patient and kind. Love is not jealous or boastful or proud or rude. It does not demand its own way. It is not irritable, and it keeps no record of being wronged. It does not rejoice about injustice but rejoices whenever the truth wins out.  Love never gives up, never loses faith, is always hopeful, and endures through every circumstance.

I learned that here the roads to nowhere don't go quiet that far.

Why yesterday I found five fingers each marked with double yellow center lines that turned into Jeep trails that dead ended. Guess I could call it NC on a tankfull.

We went to a B and B so remote that we could not find it the second day and had to give up on staying there.

I have now driven so many fire breaks in the national forests that I am going to put in for a Ranger uniform. Good thing I am in a rental car I'd sure hate to own what is left of the under carriage of this rig.

But it has been great fun to date.  We like it so much that we have put in an offer on a place in the woods.

From your description, I feel like I have been there.  It's great that you have been able to put on offer on a place there too. Hope to hear of follow-up adventures

My kind of place is one where you can see all you need to see "on a tankfull".
