What have the parents done about this?

I would gather all the Christians you can and have a prayer vigil in front of the School prior to school, and during lunch, then after.

If my son or daughter were going to a school where this was being practiced? I believe the principal and I would be having a discussion.

You also may desire to contact the Center for Law and Justice. It would seem that your Constitutional Rights are being trampled in the effect that you cannot wear buttons or even speak up in opposition to this.

I know that up in Montgomery County, MD that the School Board is driving hard to bring Homosexuality into the Schools as a normative Study in health Class.

Contact the ACLJ and have them deal with this. You are being forced by a government school to go against your religion thus abridging your right to free excersise. Furthermore at the point they will not allow you to wear a button that states "proudly heterosexual" they are trampling on your freedom of speech. The public school system must allow freedom of speech for one side of an arguement if a legitimate opposing side is in existance. If the public school system is to have a pro-gay day they must recognize a pro-heterosexual day as well. By saying you cannot wear what you are proud to be is destroying your freedom of speech. Seriously, take this to the ACLJ AS SOON AS POSSIBLE.

As for dealing with it, I just would not show up. I believe in loving homosexuals and being friends with them...but to show up and partake in the "day of silence" would be condoning such behavoir, something of which I cannot do or encourage anyone else to do.

ok first i foremost, I feel that i must explian the day of silence.

The Day of Silence, a project of the Gay, Lesbian and Straight Education Network (GLSEN) in collaboration with the United States Student Association (USSA), is a student-led day of action where those who support making anti-LGBT bias unacceptable in schools take a day-long vow of silence to recognize and protest the discrimination and harassment -- in effect, the silencing -- experienced by LGBT students and their allies.

We are not being forced to participate in this, as you chose to if you want. The people in the GSA(Gay STraight Allaince) will have these little card things for that day stating that they prefer not to speak for this reason and that they will only speak if it is during class and speaking becoems a part of the education( ex. a teacher calls on them for an answer) and they will also speak at teh info table at lunch.

I garuntee you that there will be no one coming in before school starts... except maybe durign advisory... will haev to look at that.... bu tduring lunch and after school is a definite possibility. I can talk to RIck and Daniel. the onyl two i know who will dare come.

I am also looking at, Lord willing, to start up a bible study group, or a prayer meeting for Christians next year

I have also heard about the thing in Montgomery country as my parents have gone around the house curisng about it(they have not accepted Christ... please pray for them). However, my parents are backin gme up in this as long as i do something that i know will not get me in trouble, and as long as i donot miss school.

I am not completely sure about hte button thing.... if it discriminates agaisnt it... or if it says that Homosexuality is a sin or wrong.. in any way.... i can esily be suspended. If outside of school... easily arrested.

When you ask what the parenst hav edone about this, Super Jew, what do you mean? Which parents? Mine? of the ones at my school?

if you are talking abou tmine, as i said before, they are backing me up. If you are talking about the ones at the school, most students have no idea about the day of silence. If they do know, most have not gone to their parenst because they accpet it. I am trying to get the word out about it, and i am discussing it with an old teacher of mine at the school. He completely disagrees with it too.

I am not sure how any of this can be pulled off, unless the Lord jays his hand on it. The day is April 13th, and therefore, by this point, on a week and few days away. Maybe not much can be done this year.. even though i garuntee i will do something..... there are still three more years that i am left in this high school.

Please, i ask for your prayers in this situation that their hearts adn minds would be receptive to the gospel, that the Lord would bring more people along to side with the Lord, and that the Lord would give me wisdom somehow on what to do.

Oh yes, jadey.. you said that i should write a letter to the school board. I already wrote the following letter to Ms Kubic, my principle.

"I am a 9th grade student in the IB program who is concerned about our supportive involvement in the G.S.A. (Gay Straight Alliance). While I agree that, it is good for young people to be involved in voicing political opinions, I concern that this particular issue of sexual preference should not be infused in our Educational Environment. We do not judge one another on basis of religion or race; why is sexual preference now a school issue? Please advise me on the most appropriate way that I can demonstrate that not all students wish to have sexual preference made an issue in our educational environment. I would greatly appreciate your consideration and advice on this personally disturbing matter. Thank you in advance for your council. "

I jsut talked my dad today while on the way to Lowes, and he told me that i would have to wait and see how the principle responds befor ei can go to the school board. If she gives an idea, we will look at it. If she doesn't, then i am able to go to the school board. We have had many dealings with the school board in the past and know the procedures.

I am doing a follow up letter to the one i sent before, because she has not responded in two or so weeks. My dad said she is probably trying ot "pocket-veto" it and i will be handing in the next letter to her on Tuesday when we get back from spring break.

The Lord has been waiting for a Generation just like yours. Your Faith is being played out right now. I have to admit that at your age I probably could have cared less.

Keep Loving Jesus dear one. It would seem that you are there at this time for times just such as these. Stand fast and we will pray for you.

Your Father is right to follow the proper channels. We are to honor those in positions of authority over us.

You sound like a fine young person who is struggling with issues that shouldn't be struggled with in that environment.

I know the Lord is proud of you. The fact of the matter is that you were Saved for times such as these. You are engaged in the front lines. Where the enemy has taken the battle strong. Trying to destroy the very fabric of our society even before it matures.

I pray Holy Ministering and Warring Angels over this child. I pray that Your Spirit hedges her with Mighty walls of heavenly Fire. Father that Your Mighty hands enclose her. What is in Your hand can not be snatched away. A shield of faith Father. You Lord have been waiting for a Generation to Love You. To Truly Love You. They even now arise in a society that is ever increasingly sliding in to the morass. Father You are raising up Young People like this for Your very plan and purpose from the foundation of all Creation. Hedge her up Father and watch over her. This Battle is Your's Lord and I thank You for vessels such as this one. In Jesus Holy name, Amen.

My goodness..... thankyou so very much.... just reading what you wrote was starting to bring tears to my eyes. Thankyou do much for your prayers.... and thankyou for the encouragement..... that was an answered prayer of mine.... to be honest... i have been very nervous abou doing this..... i could care less by this point what others say... but i have been nervous about other people helping in this.... obeyng my parents... and being able to do this and still stand up for God at the same time.... i have been worried deeply how this would turn out.... it has not ceased to amaze me, how when i start to doubt what the Lord is telling me.... he sends someone along somehow...... thankyou so very much... it is greatly appreciated......

Have you read the story of Gideon in the book of Judges?

An angel appeared to Gideon and said, "Hail, mighty man of valor!"

And Gideon looked around and replied, "Where?"

But seriously, Gideon began his call with much fear and intimidation. With the first command the LORD gave, Gideon did in secret at night so no one would know he was doing it.

With the next command, Gideon asked for two remarkable signs before he felt the confidence to go about the task.

Then as he began moving out in faith, the LORD offered Gideon a third sign of His own to strengthen Gideon's faith.

Maybe you should read the account (or re-read it), seeing yourself in Gideon's shoes.

Gather your forces and break those pots to reveal the torches and let them cry, "A sword for the LORD and Gideon!"

Note, the name "Gideon" means hewer - which means:

1. To make or shape with or as if with an ax: hew a path through the underbrush.

2. To cut down with an ax; fell: hew an oak.

3. To strike or cut; cleave.

Gideon was called to strike down the oppressors of his people. . . .

Just as these people are oppressing you.
