Yes, the cross symbolizes something very real to us.  But we should always be careful not to lift that symbol up as something to be revered.  That would constitute idolatry.

So for me to eat a symbol like that would have no affect.  It can't be blasphemy because it's just a symbol - something that represents a spiritual reality to me. The Lord has died upon the cross - THAT'S the most important thing, and He has made all that He has accomplished and attained through His wonderful death and resurrection available to us in spirit.  This should be our reality, not the symbol itself.  See what I mean?

We have a song that we love to sing with the young people.  Part of it goes like this:

"It's no statue that I call, not a picture on the wall, but a Person who lives His life within me."

The Lord Jesus is a real and living Person who is living within us.  His desire is to be lived and expressed through us.

Now I'm not sure where I'm going with this point.  I've suddenly lost my train of thought........

"...Thou hast well said...."(John 4:17). "...Thou hast spoken well...."(Exodus 10:29).

Now there is nothing that is so condemned in Scripture as idolatry. In simple,"5th grade English", the LORD God, in His word, identifies for us, in no uncertain terms, what idolatry is, and tells us , in no uncertain terms, that we are not to make

Guys -

You should go to Foxnews.com and listen to the video showing the broadcast debate about renaming the "Easter Bunny."

The advocate for changing the name is treating the Easter bunny like a Christian symbol that is offensive to some.

The man rebutting states that this is another attempt to secularize society - just as St. Nicholas was turned into Santa Clause and then Merry Christmas was changed to Happy Holidays.

It is a tragedy, he stated, to take away the religious heritage of this country, and he went into why for a little.

This here, he claimed, is just like the Soviet Union who turned from St. Nicholas to Father Frost as a means of secularizing society.

At this point the first man states that what this man just said was offensive.

Loose quote, "Morality does not come from God. Morality comes from people's goodness to each other."

  :taped:

Weep for America. :b:

IMO it's all idolatry.  I choose not to take part at all.  Not that I judge anyone who does, it's just not for me anymore.

Blessings,

Jen

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>

I am with you on that Jen, what is the difference eggs or crosses they are both symbols of pagan heathenism that goes back at least 3-4 thousand years.

I recognise the event of the cross in that the symbol of pagan idolatry was used to crucify my Lord. But that does not change the fact that it was and still is a symbol of pagan idolatry.

Err . . . you lost me on this one.

I've always known the cross in Roman times to be two boards stuck together as a means to excecute people. I've never heard of them having been some pagan symbol beforehand.

Hello Nebula, yes Tammuz spoken of in Ezekiel was known as the "Cross God". Crosses go way back. Constantines Labarum is much like Mithras Sword and Crown. Do a serach on ancient sun crosses. They have been around since the tower of babel.

Neb, interesting site, although i may not agree with all they say. There are all kinds of gods but the One True "LIVING" God is the Great I AM. A friend of mine once said she thought it important to identify, when in conversation with anyone, which god she worshipped. She would always say The God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.

I never thought much about until i was in conversation once at school with someone from the Islamic faith. She just kept saying God this, god that, and I thought we were speaking of the same God I worshipped. Turned out she was speaking of the Islamic god of her faith.

And I know a man who was a devout buddist.(He is now a believer in Yeshua) He

would talk about god this and god that, all the time he was referring to buddah.

I believe the word God is derived from the germanic gutt/gott, but i do not look at it as pagan, just simply a title. Thats why its capitalized in our scriptures so we know that it speaks of the One true God.

Paul used the statue made to the unkown god to preach the message of the One True God.

I praise Yeshua for what He did on the cross, I just dont worship the cross. Its just been a symbol of our christian faith since the time of Constantine. Theres a good book out by Randy Wiess "Does Jacobs trouble Wear a Cross" Interesting read if you get the time. Shalom

I realize that this is a holy day to a lot of folks...but fighting for the Easter Bunny? Huh?

THAT was the secularizing of society when the Resurrection of our G-d and King was honored in "man's way"

The Feasts were first substituted with regional pagan relions in th new union of Rome with christianity in 325 AD to rid the new "kingdom" of any jewish influence; and offenses haven't stopped.

They reconciled this politically by allowing conquored nations to just change the names of their various gods and make them "christian". Seems like a manly way of thinking, eh?

I don't doubt that they had the best of intentions being pious men of course..... but where did they think this would end up?

The actual obelisk in front of St Peter's Basillica (where Peter never lived) is an Eygptian idol to the sun god imported by the Vatican at a price of around 19 million dollars way back then. They just renamed it. Fixed!

I think institutional christianity has been making compromises for centuries now.....and will eventually reap what is sown.

At this point the first man states that what this man just said was offensive.

Loose quote, "Morality does not come from God.  Morality comes from people's goodness to each other."

And that is "our" fault for letting the institutions run christianity.

Weep for America.

And the rest of the world. Who will pick up the torch? Chinese saints? India? Israelis?

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
