Smoking a Sin or NOt a Sin?And Does It kill?

Wow... I've been gone, sick, for a week and I come back to read this thread? Well, that's 20 minutes of my life I'll never get back!

Ben, you are either trying to justify your own smoking habit or, if you don't smoke, you just plain have too much time on your hands and enjoy complicating the simplest matters with so much hair-splitting and mind-numbing nonsense.

If you are looking for permission to smoke... I'm granting it to you. Go right ahead. Enjoy it. If you aren't looking for permission to smoke, then your original post wasn't even about seeking information, it was about baiting people into an argument on something that 99.9999% of people in the world don't have a doubt about. Either way, this is my one and only post here.

Does smoking kill.....YES!

Is smoking a sin ..... YES!

Will we still get into heaven if we smoke....YES! Our sins are forgiven through Christ.

Ok, I have been in this debate time and time again, I have said the same thing time and time again. Cigarettes in and of htemselves are not sin, I am a smoker and in smoking the way I do, I AM SINNING (thats a new revelation for me ) You see I am addicted to cigarettes, I smoke a pack or more a day. Part of me wants to quit part of me enjoys smoking. You see with cigarettes being physically and mentally addictive the part that enjoys it has an unfair advantage.

Now for those (like I used to be) who think by smoking oyu are not sinning, ask yourself a few questions. Are you ever strapped for money? How are you when you havn't had a cigarette for awhile? Are you in control of your smoking? or is your smoking in control of you? There are 2 issues here, 1 are you being a steward of the finances God has allowed you to use? 2 are you serving another master? Do you sit in church thinking boy I hope this is over soon I could really use a cigarette.

Ask youself those questions, answer yourself honestly, and you will no longer be able to deny your addiction is sin that takes away from your relationship with the Lord Jesus.
