charge the people,

and sanctify it.'"

"Away, get thee down,

but let not the priests and the people break through to come up unto the LORD,

lest he break forth upon them."

So Moses went down unto the people,

I just read this tonight as I was reading in amos .

*Egypt is a type of the world and sin./Being brought out of bondage Romans 6:18, Colossians 1:13, 2 Timothy 2:26

*"Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind." (Matthew 22:37)

4 “You shall not make for yourself a carved image—any likeness of anything  that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth;

5 you shall not bow down to them nor serve them.

6 For I, the Lord your God, am a *jealous God, visiting^[the iniquity of the fathers upon the children to the third and fourth generations of those who hate Me, but showing mercy to thousands, to those who love Me and keep My commandments.

(Exodus 20:4-6)

God is "jealous" in a different sense than humans are. He expects full devotion (not merely a partial, lukewarm commitment.) Worship belongs to God alone so He is right to be "jealous' of it. He has this unique position because we were created for His pleasure. (Revelation 4:11)

24 “‘Make an altar of earth for Me and sacrifice on it your burnt offerings and fellowship offerings, your sheep and goats and your cattle. Wherever I cause My name to be honored, I will come to you and bless you. 25 If you make an altar of stones for me, do not build it with dressed stones, for you will defile it if you use a tool on it.26 And do not go up to My altar on steps, or your private parts may be exposed.’
