Hey all. I just have a few questions maybe:

I am new to the Bible and I should read/study it alot more than I do. I tried looking but I seem to not beable to find it:

When Jesus died on the cross, where did His body go? Did they just let Him hang there and what about the other two men on the crosses too?

I am being serious about this, it may seem like a stupid question, so be it but I have always pondered about this.

Jesus Buried in Joseph's Tomb

(Mark 15:42-47; Luke 23:50-56; John 19:38-42)

57 Now when evening had come, there came a rich man from Arimathea, named Joseph, who himself had also become a disciple of Jesus. 58 This man went to Pilate and asked for the body of Jesus. Then Pilate commanded the body to be given to him. 59 When Joseph had taken the body, he wrapped it in a clean linen cloth, 60 and laid it in his new tomb which he had hewn out of the rock; and he rolled a large stone against the door of the tomb, and departed. 61 And Mary Magdalene was there, and the other Mary, sitting opposite the tomb.

Pilate Sets a Guard

62 On the next day, which followed the Day of Preparation, the chief priests and Pharisees gathered together to Pilate, 63 saying, "Sir, we remember, while He was still alive, how that deceiver said, 'After three days I will rise.' 64 Therefore command that the tomb be made secure until the third day, lest His disciples come *by night and steal Him away, and say to the people, 'He has risen from the dead.' So the last deception will be worse than the first."

65 Pilate said to them, "You have a guard; go your way, make it as secure as you know how." 66 So they went and made the tomb secure, sealing the stone and setting the guard.

Regarding the other two men who were crucified with Jesus, the Bible does not say what exactly happened with their bodies. They may have had had family members or friends willing to take responsibility for them. If not, then their bodies were probably disposed of in the same way common garbage was dealt with... a simple trip to the dump, where the wild dogs would have made quick work of them. Sorry to be so blunt, but in those times that was the way it was.

What happened to the Cross Jesus died on?

This is another question that is not answered in Scripture. Perhaps the secular histories might have some insight as to what happened to the crosses after crucifixion. I am only guessing about this... but I think the upright section would probably remain in place, to be used again. Possibly the horizontal also would be reused, as might the nails.

One thing to keep in mind is that it was against Torah for the Jews to keep relics - so none of them would have preserved the would, you can be sure of that!

Re: The bodies of the thieves: There were Jewish charitable societies who made it there business to make sure all Jews executed by Rome, or just beggars who died in the street, were properly buried. Unless the Romans quite deliberately wished to deface the bodies and dishonor the person particularly it is quite unlikely they were simply thrown in the garbage dump.

Also, throughout the Roman world, people were generally crucified naked. However in Jerusalem there was a ladies' auxilliary group whose mission was to provide at least a loin cloth for minimal modesty even to condemned criminals. The Roman Governors had always assented to this demand given the Jews' favored status among Roman subjects, and the Jewish nation's extreme discomfort with nakedness.

What happened to the Cross Jesus died on?

Im not sure that was known. In the middle ages, there were a lot of "souvenirs" that came home, supposedly pieces of the cross. Personally, I think the cross is long gone, only dust now.

Relics were prized by many, but do they really mean anything? To those who believe, the relics dont matter. To those who dont believe, no relics will ever prove anything. The precious gift of salvation lies with Jesus. Praise the Lord!

Personally, relics are a waste of time...

Imagine this

.............A man was famous, he was known in every household...his name was respected worldwide.......he was a hero of the people...they loved him, and he was their leader.

Everyone was heart-broken when he was killed in a battle up North of the country.

Eventually, the time came to bury him. the peole gathered all around him to pay last respects to him.

They found a gold ring.......on his right hand.....

The people kept it.

They used it as a "relic" of their dear, beloved leader and friend.

Now..........the gold ring.....it has no importance....except for money purposes.

It is only a little reminder of the great man...

The cross Relic, and all the other so-called holy relics are just reminders of Christ.....

Christ Himself is Heaven.....ALIVE!!!!

one way to study the Bible, is to start with a book, and then take one chapter at a time,

first thing to do is pray.

then read the chapter with out making notes.

then answer these questions

who, what, where, when, why, and how.

dont do the comentaries until after going thru the entire book, answering the questions as you do each chapter.

write out the main chapter themes, or ideas, and then compile them when the book is finished, with main and sub themes.

look to see what the author is trying to say.

then

after gleaning what you can this way, then go to repituble comentaries, ones that you know their back ground, and how they stand on other subjects and doctrine and such.

this is just one way.
