Proverbs 28: 16-22

A ruler with no understanding will oppress his people, but one who hates corruption will have a long life.

A murderer’s tormented conscience will drive him into the grave. Don’t protect him!

The blameless will be rescued from harm, but the crooked will be suddenly destroyed.

A hard worker has plenty of food, but a person who chases fantasies ends up in poverty.

The trustworthy person will get a rich reward, but a person who wants quick riches will get into trouble.

Showing partiality is never good, yet some will do wrong for a mere piece of bread.

Greedy people try to get rich quick but don’t realize they’re headed for poverty.

Romans 5:6-8 (NLT)

When we were utterly helpless, Christ came at just the right time and died for us sinners.

Now, most people would not be willing to die for an upright person, though someone might perhaps be willing to die for a person who is especially good.

But God showed his great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners.

Romans 5:5 parallel with Colossians 1:7-8 and 1 Corinthians 13:10, 13 (NLT):

And this hope will not lead to disappointment. For we know how dearly God loves us, because he has given us the Holy Spirit to fill our hearts with his love.

You learned about the Good News from Epaphras, our beloved co-worker. He is Christ’s faithful servant, and he is helping us on your behalf. He has told us about the love for others that the Holy Spirit has given you.

But when the time of perfection comes, these partial things will become useless. ... Three things will last forever—faith, hope, and love—and the greatest of these is love.

Titus 1: 15-16 parallel with Titus 2:1 (NLT):

Everything is pure to those whose hearts are pure.

But nothing is pure to those who are corrupt and unbelieving, because their minds and consciences are corrupted.

Such people claim they know God, but they deny him by the way they live. They are detestable and disobedient, worthless for doing anything good.

As for you, Titus, promote the kind of living that reflects wholesome teaching.

Jesus Christ is the only King who died for us. Unlike the Kings of the Earth, the bodyguards will die just to protect them.

Teach the older men to exercise self-control, to be worthy of respect, and to live wisely.

They must have sound faith and be filled with love and patience.

 

Teach the truth so that your teaching can’t be criticized. Then those who oppose us will be ashamed and have nothing bad to say about us.

Titus 2:3-5, 8 (NLT) - OLDER WOMEN AND YOUNGER WOMEN:

Similarly, teach the older women to live in a way that honors God.

They must not slander others or be heavy drinkers. Instead, they should teach others what is good.

These older women must train the younger women to love their husbands and their children, to live wisely and be pure, to work in their homes, to do good, and to be submissive to their husbands. Then they will not bring shame on the word of God.

In the same way, encourage the young men to live wisely. And you yourself must be an example to them by doing good works of every kind. Let everything you do reflect the integrity and seriousness of your teaching.
