I wonder if Christ demanded his tithe back when the Pharisees said something offensive to God's law.

Well, since you asked what would I do if faced with the situation, if at home I would most likely turn it off as soon as I hear the Lords name used in a vulgar way. That includes PG 13 and PG rated movies...yes, these rating are no guarantee the film has no vulgarity in it.

There have been times that I sat through a PG 13 movie hoping that one swear word was all I would hear, and because the plot was soo good and I wanted to see the movie...but I was uncomfortable with not just turning it off. There are always those young babie Christians we need to consider as well. Maybe it isn't a sin, but to their weak conscience it could do harm.

The Bible says to set no wicked thing before our eyes. (I must confess I have to work on that one because I enjoy watching CSI ,SOMETIMES.) Ofcourse, in todays world we would have to leave it completely not to see the wickedness all around us. But I believe the Lord was telling us not to deliberately choose to become involved in those things. Garbage in...garbage out is a pretty good analogy.

How can we think on the good things, honest things, pure and true things the Lord told us to think on if we habitually set all this worlds junk before us?

What I find interesting is this -- in HEBREW there is no swear words -- and when Israeli's cuss -- they actually have to say it in ARABIC -- because there's none in Hebrew.

Kinda interesting don't ya think?

Where in the Bible?

Jesus set "all the world's junk" before himself. Really, how is anyone supposed to love their neighbour if they ignore them for an expletive?

Some of the best films out there contain swear words. By denying yourself so many films that do use them for things like atmosphere and emphasis, do you ever wonder if you're getting a well rounded world view? Maybe I'm missing the point, if I am please tell me.

Can you clarify what you exactly mean by having a "well-rounded" world view?

There's cuss words and there's taking the lords name in vain.

If cuss words offend you then don't watch the movie. If cuss words don't offend you then enjoy the movie.

It's sad that movie producers feel the need to take the Lords Name in vain. They probably do it because they know that most christians will watch the movie anyways and maybe wince a bit at the infraction but continue watching anyways to get their entertainment fix.

Well, although the days of prophecy are behind us, philosophy is still very much alive. Through different artistic media, people express their views in different ways, and make different points. It can also bring certain issues to light; not only global, but also personal issues.

A "well rounded" world view is simply about having a deep understanding of things that occur within the world from many different perspectives, just as a "well rounded" musical view is someone who listens not just to one genre of music, but listens to all genres, or like a "well rounded" argument tries to look at the point of view of everybody involved.

The question of why God might test us when God is omniscient is an interesting one. One answer I heard that was particularly interesting is that God is not testing us for his benefit, but for ours; he tests us so that we know ourselves better. When I watch a movie, I want to learn something new, to see something from somebody elses viewpoint, to find something new out about myself. By doing this, I not only come to understand myself, I also can begin to understand things about different people.

That's really the essence of it I think. I mean, there are benefits as a result as well, for example I can watch a movie, identify with a character, and feel less alone. I hope you can appreciate that it's a difficult concept for me to write about.

Who says the days of prophesy are behind us? Have you ever been to a charasmatic church? Where there is the Holy Spirit, there also you will find prophesy. :)

Good point. Go make a movie.

But seriously, that's just given me a different way of thinking about what prophecy means. Movies can do the same. I just believe you've got to challenge yourself.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Daniel: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 3

      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this study, I'll be focusing on Daniel and his picture of the resurrection and its connection with Yeshua (Jesus).

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
