Finishing STRONG

Paul was STRONG to the finish

Paul had fought a good fight: with demonic powers and principalities. In continual day and night prayer and watching. In the synagogues proclaiming Jesus as the Messianic fulfilment of OT scriptures. With the Judaizers in defense of the gospel: in almost all the churches that Paul had planted the Judaizers had followed him there to spread a form of legalism upon the Christian faith.  He had fought a good fight throughout Asia Minor, Galatia Macedonia Greece Rome by enduring persecution much hardship and sufferings for the sake of the gospel, long years of imprisonments, beatings stoning shipwrecks, when forsaken or disappointed by friends. He had declared the whole counsel of God without compromising the Word in the face of all manner of severe testings. He had contended and fought the good fight of faith against his thorn in the flesh.

 

He had finished his course. He had completed what God had given him to do. At no point did he lose heart or give up. He remained unflinchingly loyal to his Master and LORD and faithful to the mantle of ministry that God had placed on him. He had diligently pursued the vision and finished the course one step at a time. He considered his life worth nothing to himself if only he could finish the course and the ministry that the LORD Jesus had given him.

 

He had kept the faith. Paul came to the end of his life with a clear conscience and confident peace before God. What a powerful assurance to have before we leave the earth! Paul has laid hold of the grace offered to him with spiritual violence and single focus and now he is confident that he is able to give to his Lord and master a full measure of fruitfulness that he expected of him.

 

 

Very few can have this testimony at the end of their lives

Hi;..... Paul’s life was such a great example of a life given to God, such a life put forth that we all should strive for. To be just as much Jesus’s servant as Paul was.

Though our courses and callings are different than Paul’s. I think/feel are walks and courses should be just as alive with Christ, as Paul’s was. For Christ being formed in Paul, was Paul’s heart, Paul’s desire was

“that I might know Him” 

This is what I think/feel should be all our hearts desire, that we might know Christ Jesus personally in all reality and all truth. Just as much as we can get to know our neighbor or our co-worker. I feel we can get to know Christ Jesus even deeper in a more real way.

That we might all finish our courses as Paul did, with a heart full of faith, hope and love, that we might; 

“know Him”

yes, we are going to be rewarded according to how much of His nature have you allowed the holy Spirit to produce in you  and how many people you have brought into the same reality to be more Christlike. He will not evaluate you based on the size of your ministry or how great your ministry was. He will evaluate you based on the size of your heart and your love for him.

Yes indeed, a heart like the heart David had, that would be all Christ’s. 

Such a treasure indeed.

I think you are on point here. There are many different works but the same Spirit. I think we are not all called to the same “works” per say. But we are all called to have that close personal relationship with Christ as Paul had, and dare I say even closer if such a thing is possible. I feel  the work is the fruit of the relationship, so regardless of who’s called to what, it the relationship that is the main focus. As Jesus spoke to Mary;

Luke 10:42 (NASB)
but only one thing is necessary, for Mary has chosen the good part, which shall not be taken away from her."

Mary chose to sit at Jesus’s feet and learn of Him. 

This is what I think will be that which is rewarded, the close personal relationship with Christ, the depths and degree of it. Or in other words, how much Christ has been formed in the believer.

When I do my listening prayer, one of the phrases I often hear from God is, "I am always speaking."

God is always speaking to us, we just have to tune our hearts to listen.

“Tune our hearts to listen.” 

I think this can only be done by walking in all the light we see. By being obedient to those little nudges, in small if what might seem like unimportant things. Being obedient in the small so we might grow into the large.

I also agree that a close personal relationship is important.
So important, that every believer has one, however small.
I believe the more of the word (Jesus is the word) I hear, read, study, do, the more/closer
I 'know' Him. The key, in my opinion, is understanding the verse,
  ^"If ye love me, keep my commandments" Paul understood.
Joh 15:5  I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him,
the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing
Not I (Or not me, Not me:) but Christ in me.
For me, the more I obey, the better my/our relationship becomes, and the better I 'know' Him.
I simply feel good. My day becomes a neat day. I can talk to Him confidently.
When I sin, my relationship suffers. I consider, become discouraged?
To sin is to miss the/His mark, or target. I must purpose to aim. He shows me how.
The better I listen to Him, the better my aim. The less targets missed.
The less targets I miss, the more I hit the mark = Doing the right thing.
God calls doing the right thing,  righteousness.
Doing the wrong think, unrighteousness.
I do not have like Mary, a physical Jesus to sit beside and learn from.
Yes, the Holy Spirit of God resides in me.
Jesus is the word. The more word I put into my mind, heart, actions,
then I can have/know that closer relationship with our Savior.
Learning scripture is very important. Applying it, or not, 
is the proof, of that close relationship you refer to. For me, Not me.
