It looks like he is into mysticism as well. I would not read his books. I am very careful what I read.

Someone emailed me encouraging me to familarize myself with an author named Richard Rohr and gave me a list of books he wanted me to read and discuss with him. He has read hundreds of Christian books and says these are his favorite four of all time. Has anyone heard of Rohr or any of these books?:

Breathing Under Water', 'Things Hidden' and 'Great Themes of St Paul' by Rohr .

This person also recommended    'The Great Spiritual Migration' by Brian McLaren.

Best advice I can give you is talk to your pastor and ask him for advice on books to read.

otherwise follow blogs like coldcasechristianity and reasonablefaith.

Nearly every NT book has some refutation of gnosticism and mystery religion!

What I know about Rohr is he collaborated with a new age writer on “The Divine Dance,” and he ascribes to contemplative mediation, a stream of prayer that bleeds into new agey practices. I personally read much of The Divine Dance, so I speak from being acquainted with Rohr’s writings.

I’d stay away from Richard Rohr’s writings.

I suggest you be grounded in The Scriptures, specifically master The New Testament, using the translation that works best for you. Then when you read books you’ll be able to quickly discern “destructive heresies,” (2 Peter 2:1) and “doctrines of demons.”  (1 Timothy 4:1)
