I'm especially fond of verse 2. Christ by highest heaven adored. Christ the everlasting Lord. Late in time behold Him come. Offspring of a virgins womb. Veiled in flesh the Godhead see. Hail the incarnate Deity. Pleased as man with men to dwell. Jesus our Emmanuel. Hark the herald angels sing. Glory to the newborn King! 1 1

This one to me just shows the meaning of Christmas, Christ our savior is born. The joy of his birth and how others responded at the news...sometimes, does anyone wish they could just look back at the moment in time and witness all that happened that night? I'd of loved just to seen it...well Many of the accounts in the bible I would of liked to witness...God bless everyone 1

She went to be with Jesus on Feb 27th of this year. "Oh Little Town Of Bethlehem" was her favorite Christmas carol. I like this song because of that. But I also like how the gospel is tucked into the lyrics. I underlined the words I am referring to. O little town of Bethlehem How still we see thee lie Above thy deep and dreamless sleep The silent stars go by Yet in thy dark streets shineth The everlasting Light The hopes and fears of all the years Are met in thee tonight For Christ is born of Mary And gathered all above While mortals sleep, the angels keep Their watch of wondering love O morning stars together Proclaim the holy birth And praises sing to God the King And Peace to men on earth How silently, how silently The wondrous gift is given! So God imparts to human hearts The blessings of His heaven. No ear may hear His coming, But in this world of sin, Where meek souls will receive him still, The dear Christ enters in. O holy Child of Bethlehem Descend to us, we pray Cast out our sin and enter in Be born to us today We hear the Christmas angels The great glad tidings tell O come to us, abide with us Our Lord Emmanuel That is right dear sister . Our mama is at rest and peace in our LORD . We love our mama and we shall carry on by the grace of the LORD , joying and rejoicing in the LORD . Let all rejoice in the LORD JESUS our KING and SAVOIR and in all we do may it honor Him . What great hopes the lambs do have , For JESUS is our HOPE . 1

What matchless love has He for the human race!! I think this song captures some of the wonder. May God bless the rich truths in these lyrics to your souls. And may we exult His wonderful name! Glory be to God on high 1. Glory be to God on high, And peace on earth descend; Now God comes down, He bows the sky, And shows Himself our friend! God the invisible appears, God the blest, the great I AM, He sojourns in this vale of tears, And Jesus is His name. 2. Him by the angels all adored, Their maker and their king; Lo, tidings of their humbled Lord They now to mortals bring; Emptied of His majesty, Of His dazzling glories shorn, Our being’s Source begins to be, And God Himself is born! 3. See the eternal Son of God A mortal Son of Man, Now dwelling in an earthly clod Whom Heaven cannot contain! Stand amazed, ye heavens, look at this! See the Lord of earth and skies Low humbled to the dust He is, And in a manger lies! 4. So do the sons of men rejoice The Prince of Peace proclaim, With Heaven’s host lift up our voice, And shout Immanuel’s name; Our knees and hearts to Him we bow; Of our flesh, and of our bone, See—Jesus is our brother now, And God is all our own! 1

I am taken with the richness of imagery in it. It causes me to ponder on how Almighty God cared so much for us as to become one of us (though remaining God.) He took on human flesh. 1

But I love it. 1.Savior of the nations, come, Virgin's Son, make here Thy home! Marvel now, O heaven and earth, That the Lord chose such a birth. 2. Not by human flesh and blood, By the Spirit of our God, Was the Word of God made flesh-- Woman's Offspring, pure and fresh. 3. Wondrous birth! O wondrous Child Of the Virgin undefiled! Though by all the world disowned, Still to be in heaven enthroned. 4. From the Father forth He came And returneth to the same, Captive leading death and hell-- High the song of triumph swell! 5. Thou, the Father's only Son, Hast o'er sin the victory won. Boundless shall Thy kingdom be; When shall we its glories see? 6. Brightly doth Thy manger shine, Glorious is its light divine. Let not sin o'ercloud this light; Ever be our faith thus bright. 7. Praise to God the Father sing, Praise to God the Son, our King, Praise to God the Spirit be Ever and eternally.

They are similar to hymns in that they draw our focus to the Lord and praising Him. It's hard to believe that it is only 16 days away now. How time flies! I thought I'd start a thread in which we could share which Christmas Carols we like best and why. (If anyone wants to post lyrics they are welcome to do this, too.) O Come, O come Emmanuel is one of my favorites. It can be traced back the 4th century and probably even originated in the early churches as the O Antiphons. The Fact that it deals with the redemption of Israel also makes me think of how those apostolic Jewish converts could sing this song. O come, O come, Emmanuel, And ransom captive Israel, That mourns in lonely exile here Until the Son of God appear. Rejoice, rejoice! Emmanuel Shall come to thee, O Israel. O come, O come, Thou Lord of Might, Who to Thy tribes, on Sinai's height, In ancient times didst give the law, In cloud, and majesty, and awe. Refrain O come, Thou Rod of Jesse, free Thine own from Satan's tyranny; From depths of hell Thy people save And give them victory o'er the grave. Refrain O come, Thou Dayspring, come and cheer Our spirits by Thine advent here; Disperse the gloomy clouds of night, And death's dark shadows put to flight. Refrain O come, Thou Key of David, come, And open wide our heavenly home; Make safe the way that leads on high, And close the path to misery. Refrain O come, Thou Wisdom from on high, And order all things, far and nigh; To us the path of knowledge show, And cause us in her ways to go. Refrain O come, Desire of nations, bind In one the hearts of all mankind; Bid Thou our sad divisions cease, And be Thyself our King of peace. Long time ago in Bethlehem So the Holy Bible say Mary’s Boy Child, Jesus Christ Was born on Christmas Day! While shepherds watched their flocks by night They saw a bright new shining star And heard a choir from heaven sing The music came from afar Hark! Now hear the angels sing: “New King’s born today And man will live for evermore Because of Christmas Day!” Now Joseph and his wife Mary Came to Bethlehem that night. They found no place to bear her Child, Not a single room was in sight. Hark! Now hear the angels sing: “New King’s born today And man will live for evermore Because of Christmas Day!” By and by they found a little nook In a stable all forlorn. And in a manger cold and dark Mary’s little Boy/Child was born Trumpets sound and angels sing, Listen to what they say! That man will live forevermore Because of Christmas Day!
