Which is your right, no one is forcing you to learn the history of the Bible.

Ha, funny one. I simply disagree with the conclusion you  are projecting as being correct; but that is a discussion for another day.  For today, Merry Christmas.

Maybe you think that accusing me of thinking that I am "holier than the rest of us" is a compliment?

Well you accused all of us of being pagans. :whistling:

Well if your offended by Merry Christmas perhaps I should say Happy Holidays instead.

And yeah I know about Krampus. I know lots of stuff.

(The term mass is derived from the ecclesiastical Latin formula for the dismissal of the congregation: Ite, missa est (“Go, it is the sending [dismissal]”)    Is this what you were offended by?

Well done in omitting the rest of the meaning.

It is, by extension, used to refer to the RC "bloodless sacrifice", in which they re-enact the crucifixion, over and over and over again.  The words you quoted were said, in Latin Masses, at the dismissal of the general congregation, then again, after the "bloodless sacrifice" (i.e. the giving of the wafer, which is blasphemously claimed to be the literal body and blood of the Lord), they were said to those who remained.

The word "Christmas" is a corruption of Christ Mass and refers to a Mass for Christ, held at this time of year.

I have not seen one person on this thread mandating that you celebrate Christmas.  As I said. If you do not want to do so then don't. My only issue is accusing the rest of us of being pagans or some how less holy for doing so.

As an outsider reading through the thread, might I just add that saying we are using pagan rituals does not mean we are pagans.....   I don't think any of us are actually worshiping pagan gods here.....    but it does look like we are using some pagan rituals to worship or at least reflect on our God.    Not sure how he feels about that, but it doesn't set well with me personally, but that doesn't mean I should condemn others if they don't have a problem with it....    each of our hearts is what matters...

I personally have a thing for Christmas trees, but that stems from some past occult brushes with the dark ones...…    if you've never been there I  don't know how it will work out....   but I do firmly believe that the Holy Spirit will not let you do things that the Lord doesn't like.....     so if you can have a tree and it doesn't offend your spirit who am I to question your relationship with the Spirit....     But I happen to think that each of us has a unique walk with God and he brings us to where he wants us as we go.

but it is not a bad thing to learn where things come from...…

Quote me accusing anyone of being a pagan, or retract your false accusation.

I have not seen one person on this forum claiming that anyone mandates that we celebrate "Christmas".  You must love burning straw men...

I asked what the scriptural mandate is for celebrating it; I did not say that anyone mandates that we celebrate it.  I'm sure that everyone understands the difference.

I have not accused anyone of being a pagan, or of being less holy than I.  Stop trying to cover up your lack of scriptural support for a pagan festival with false accusations.  It does not show you in a good light at all...

Do we really need one???     Can anyone show us where he said, "Don't do that?"
