I have not seen one person on this forum claiming that anyone mandates that we celebrate "Christmas".  You must love burning straw men...

I asked what the scriptural mandate is for celebrating it; I did not say that anyone mandates that we celebrate it.  I'm sure that everyone understands the difference.

I have not accused anyone of being a pagan, or of being less holy than I.  Stop trying to cover up your lack of scriptural support for a pagan festival with false accusations.  It does not show you in a good light at all...

I feel bad for you having all this anger.   :(

Where is your scriptural mandate for celebrating Christ's birthday?

Where is your mandate for doing so on the 25th Dec.?

Where is your mandate for re-purposing pagan symbolism?

Why do you suppose that God has deliberately not told us the date of his Son's birth?

Why would you cause division in the body of Christ, by incorporating man-made traditions, taken from paganism, without the slightest hint that this is what God wants?

One thing that I have noticed is that no-one who supports this festival ever does so because he has a scriptural warrant for thinking that God wants him to....

Merry Christmas and God bless.

Regarding this idea of Christmas being a pagan thing, my condolences to those who have to endure the stress of believing all this has somehow involved Christ worshipers in pagan rituals. Since today is Wednesday. I am sorry, that they are forced to participate in this day, since Wednesday, has it's origins in Woden's day, a day to commemorate Woden. Woden or Odin is the chief god of the Germanic pantheon. Not to worry though, tomorrow is Thor's day!

Merry Christmas everyone. My Christmas present to you will be the closing of this thread very soon. I ask that you consider giving a present to our Lord, give yourself more fully to His will, perhaps tell someone about Him. In your holiday gatherings, you have and opportunity to tell others the real significance of Christmas:

Hark! the herald angels sing,
"Glory to the new-born King!
Peace on earth, and mercy mild,
God and sinners reconciled."
Joyful, all ye nations, rise,
Join the triumph of the skies;
With th' angelic host proclaim,
"Christ is born in Bethlehem."
Hark! the herald angels sing,
"Glory to the new-born King!
Christ, by highest heaven adored:
Christ, the everlasting Lord;
Late in time behold him come,
Offspring of the virgn's womb.
Veiled in flesh, the Godhead see;
Hail, th'incarnate Deity:
Pleased, as man, with men to dwell,
Jesus, our Emmanuel!
Hark! the herald angels sing,
"Glory to the new-born King!
Hail! the heaven-born
Prince of peace!
Hail! the Son of Righteousness!
Light and life to all he brings,
Risen with healing in his wings
Mild he lays his glory by,
Born that man no more may die:
Born to raise the sons of earth,
Born to give them second birth.
Hark! the herald angels sing,
"Glory to the new-born King !"

my CHRISTian mandate is CHRIST Himself .. I choose Him to be my Lord and Saviour and I choose to love Him and I choose to obey His two great commandments that He called upon those who love Him to keep and I choose to ask His forgiveness when I go against His Will to do my will and I know He forgives me and does not punish me then .. I choose to celebrate His birthday on December 25 which CHRISTians accept as being a good time to celebrate the birth of our Lord and Saviour Who would die for our sinfulness and grant all of us the free gift of salvation IF only we would accept and keep it and do right by it .. it is my understanding that Jesus was born in October but today - December 25, 2019 - is a good day to honour His birthday .. a very Happy and Holy CHRISTmas to all

I missed the part where Christ authorised his children to celebrate a pagan festival.  What we see instead is I ... I ... I ... my, etc., very telling.

Do we really need one???     Can anyone show us where he said, "Don't do that?"

Where did he tell you not to imbibe poisonous fumes from cigarettes?  Where did he tell you not to drive too fast?  Where did he tell you not to drop litter?

The Holy Spirit within us is the Spirit of Truth.  The Lord is the Truth and he loves the truth.  The pagan festival on the 25th Dec. is a lie.  It is not Jesus' birthday and the symbolism associated with it is unbiblical (to put it mildly).

If you were washed up on a deserted island, never having heard the gospel, nor having heard about "Christmas"; and you found a Bible, read it and God saved you, you would not, in a million years, come up with "Christmas" as being something that pleased the Lord; in fact, you would have no clue that such a festival existed at all.  On the other hand, you would know about baptism, the Lord's Supper, the Jewish feasts, etc, etc.

Spare a thought for those Christians who want to follow God's word and not the traditions of men, particularly when those traditions are rooted in paganism.

Here's an appropriate Scripture for you.

Pro. 6:16-19 (MKJV)

16 These six the LORD hates; yea, seven are hateful to his soul:
17 a proud look, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood,
18 a heart that plots wicked plans, feet hurrying to run to evil,
19 a false witness who speaks lies, and he who causes fighting among brothers.

There is no scriptural mandate for "Christmas", so no-one can show it to you.  You have taken it upon yourself to do it, without the Lord's word to back it up.

I've had more opportunities to witness for the Lord, since I discovered that "Christmas" is not Christian, than I ever had before.  It opens up conversations right, left and centre.  Those unbelievers who know the pagan origins (many) often start to show respect and start to listen, when they realise that here is someone who does not just follow the crowd but is willing to acknowledge the truth.

You seem to be arguing for the sake of arguing.  You do not have to do Christmas. I think everyone here can agree to that. So what is there left to argue about?

Would if help if I just agree that you are right? In that there is nothing in the Bible that says we are to do Christmas or celebrate Jesus's birthday? Because that is right. Nothing in the Bible about that stuff.
