I could go on for many posts about how this passage is misinterpreted to mean the Church will be raptured out before 

the antichrist is revealed. But I'll show restraint (just this once) to remained focused on who the antichrist will be according

to scripture.

One of the biggest tells in the mystery prophecy about the antichrist is found in highlighted  the text above.  In his High Priestly prayer, the Son of God prayed about his disciples and the only other mention of the son of perdition in scripture...

Footnote.

The Preterist heresy tends to step in at this point stating that this (in addition to the texts they

quote but misinterpret) proves their case that all prophecy was fulfilled in the first century CE.

Judas Iscariot lived and died almost 2000 years ago.

The Bible teaches that the beast will be locked away in the abyss until the last days then released.

The bottomless pit (abusos in the Greek = the abyss) described another way in this text as chasma in Greek chasm / great gulf as a bottomless pit or abyss would appear from the two opposite sides):

The Preterist attempts to mislead people declaring Cesar Nero as the return of the beast.

Some extreme Preterists teach that the Lord Jesus has also returned... one in particular

(a Christian radio talk how host in Los Angeles wrote of me [at the time my fuller screen names was what I used:

johndbaptiste] that I "couldn't compare to a pimple on John the Baptist's arse" ← he used a strong word) when I

pointed out the full Preterist position is equal to the Watchtower's in that they also declared Jesus returned when

he obviously hasn't yet.

This christian talk show host lost his broadcast privileged (mainly by losing sponsors),  but also KBRT did not agree with or wish to

promote his heretical beliefs. And no, I did not turn him in for the way he emails me.

I also lost a friend, Pastor of a small congregation in San Diego who bought into Preterism when he took exception to the same point I made with the

talk show host (his friend who often had him on his radio show btw). Until then, my friend and I stood shoulder to shoulder in counter cult ministry

even at the annual Jehovah's Witness convention at the (then) Jack Murphy Stadium. We demonstrated with signs etc with about a hundred others.

This is the passage they took such offense to my pointing out... plus the fact that it debunks the Watchtower Bible and Tract Society's claim that Jesus returned in 1914 

to reside in Jehovah's Witness headquarters in Brooklyn, New York.

A text I previously used to get my half brother out of the Kingdom Hall (where sadly his father my former stepfather* is to this day).  __________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

The bottom line about Preterism that makes it so heinous a heresy is that it undermines predictive prophecy that has yet to be fulfilled

taking away the biblical warning sign about what is about to transpire. It would be like taking away the "Bridge Out" sign on a superhighway.

The false messiah (a more accurate name for the antichrist) will come claiming to be the true Messiah 

and impugn Jesus of Nazareth as the false messiah. And eventually Judas will  claim to be God himself.

A very unpopular / uncomfortable point about this is the beast will also blame all the ills of mankind for the last 2000 years on Christians.

And the people who have already bought the lie of the beast hook line and sinker will turn against the Christians who refuse to worship the beast or to receive his symbol of allegiance (the mark of the beast).

9 Then shall they deliver you up to be afflicted, and shall kill you: and ye shall be hated of all nations for my name’s sake.

2 They shall put you out of the synagogues*: yea, the time cometh, that whosoever killeth you will think that he doeth God service.

Because the world will think that Judas is Christ.

The many is the people of Earth.

The Covenant is the Old Covenant Law which the beast will use to plow with the Lord's heifer (so to speak) Judges 14:8

11 And from the time that the daily sacrifice shall be taken away, and the abomination that maketh desolate set up, there shall be a thousand two hundred and ninety days.

1. the Temple standing on Temple Mount will be the prime indicator that the end is very near and the beast has been revealed. 

2. 1290 days until what? The end of time. There will be 1290 days left.

3. The 1335 days unlike the 1290 days do not count backwards from the end of time but rather forward from the beginning of the 70th Week of Daniel.

4. Where the two cross is the time the beast will end temple sacrifice, park his miserable carcass on the mercy seat in the holy of holies and clam to be God, then renege on his covenant with the Jews and revert religious central to Babylon (Zechariah 5:5-11)... and 105 days later what's left of the Christians who survived to that point and are so far underground in hiding they are already believed to be exterminated... will be raptured.

The only other mention of satan actually entering into (possessing someone) is:

1 Now the feast of unleavened bread drew nigh, which is called the Passover.
2 And the chief priests and scribes sought how they might kill him; for they feared the people.
3 Then entered Satan into Judas surnamed Iscariot, being of the number of the twelve.
4 And he went his way, and communed with the chief priests and captains, how he might betray him unto them.
5 And they were glad, and covenanted to give him money.
6 And he promised, and sought opportunity to betray him unto them in the absence of the multitude.

I've considered this to be a likelihood for some years now.  Good job.

When you think about it... what one thing could the antichrist do or be that would convince the entire world

he is who he claims to be (which would even fool the elect if that were possible according to Matthew 24:24)...

than to be a man who can prove scientifically that he lived 2000 years ago?

Remember the world is full of skeptics, people of other religions, atheists, cults, the occult,

agnostics... yet this Jewish man will lead the world into believing that the fulfilled (by Jesus) Law of Moses

is the true religion for all to follow. He will implement the building of the last temple...  with even the Muslims'

approval.

The Jews will have an unprecedented global popularity... and the Christians will be hunted down to either recant

or die.
