Morning there LB,

Noticed the "free" programs you mentioned you use. Not a thing wrong with them and they're great, have them myself. I've discovered the old adage, "you get what you paid for". I wanted to dig deep into the Bible and learn, using one main program to do a lot of it if possible. I purchased the program 'SwordSearcher' for about $60.00. I've had and used it for a couple of years now; best sixty bucks I've ever spent.

I'd really like to get the ultimate program 'LOGOS', but for about $1,000.00 I need to think hard about that one. They will negotiate the price with you though. Thought I'd relay a tool I use that is very helpful and makes best use of my study time.

Great stuff, brother. I settled on 'Accordance' years ago. For the readers, it is another great choice.

In Matt. 5:14-17 the light Jesus is speaking of means our Godly behavior that Jesus expects us to do in front of the world.

Amen and Thanks JTC, nice post.

Now let's go further shall we?

So it was asked, "what does our Savior tell us about light? What is it and what is it's purpose?"

Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid. Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven. Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil. For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled. Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach them, the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven. For I say unto you, That except your righteousness shall exceed the righteousness of the scribes and Pharisees, ye shall in no case enter into the kingdom of heaven. Ye have heard that it was said by them of old time, Thou shalt not kill; and whosoever shall kill shall be in danger of the judgment:
(Mat 5:14-21 KJV)

So light and good works are basically synonyms. Or if you will those that are light produce good works that glorify God that men may see..

As was discussed, The Subject of verses 14 through 17 is light. THIS IS A FACT. So with that being said everything in verse 17 is being stated in regards to this light that shines that men may see our good works that God be glorified.

So in relation to this light that shines that men may see our good works that God be glorified Jesus says in verse 17, "Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil (manifest, display, exemplify, show). For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled (caused to be)."

So with the light that is to shine that men may see our good works that God be glorified being the subject. Then the Law that is being mentioned is being said in context to that. That means that The good works that shine from the light that God be glorified is of the Law.

So what Law?

Thanks brother. Context is all I am concerned about. We can't very well for the most part go to another passage in the New Testament to explain what Jesus is saying unless that Passage is relaying  the same moment and context in which Jesus is speaking.

Interesting. I don't quite understand that.

Thanks! That looks very interesting, I book marked it to check it out and compare when I get more time. About time to get ready for Sunday School / church.

Another prime example of you get what you pay for [$600.00 +]. Looks like one can purchase the basic program and buy the additions over time to take the sting out of it? Which program do you use???

I started with the original scholar's package about 15 years ago when it was called Grammcord and have since built it to include an incredible library of resources. It is a blessing to be able to have so much available. Most every translation including the old texts, commentaries, dictionaries, lexicons. all of the so called church fathers, church history, sermon collections, maps, timelines, etc. The searching algorithms are very powerful and dynamic.

Ya--I like it.

I agree brother and thanks!

That LOGOS program looks pretty awesome. I toyed with the idea of buying it myself.

But between ISA2 Basic, theWord and E-Sword I get what need for my devotions and my cutting and pasting needs when sharing through Sabbath School, Pulpit, here, there, everywhere lol..... However I mainly invest in books. And with that being said Mainly lexicons.

I did by one for theWord software, the BDAG. But I also have a copy it in book form.

The reason I like books more is I would hate for something to happen to our Electrical Grid and not be able to access the helps that I have been brought up in and love so much.

If you don't mind, I'd like to PM you and ask some more questions on this? Much of what your program contains I have in books and hard copy, and as you know, takes a lot of time to find and retrieve the material, much less copy / paste as a reference source, etc.

Please explain, as I am perplexed, as this verse quickly comes to mind: "All scripture is inspired of God and beneficial" (2 Timothy 3:16).

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
