Hi Lisa

Jesus commented on two tragic events that occured in and near Jerusalem when he was on Earth. The first was regarding a group of worshippers killed by Pontius Pilot - they came to the temple to sacrifice. The second was when a tower (at Siloam - near Jerusalem) collapsed and 18 people were killed as a result. You can read about these in Luke 18. From these two events (albeit not "natural" and widespread) as Covid 19, from what Jesus said, we can extrapolate certain lessons that can be applied to any tragedy (including Covid 19).

First, We should not assume that the victims died because they are worst sinners than everyone else.

Second, what is interesting is that Jesus mentions that it is important that everyone needs to repent. Repent or perish (a future more terrifying "death" in a place known as the Lake of Fire) - an event far more to be concerned about than Covid 19:

I tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish. (Luke 13:3, 5).

If only bad things happen to bad people then we all deserve to be victims:

As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one: There is none that understandeth, there is none that seeketh after God. They are all gone out of the way, they are together become unprofitable; there is none that doeth good, no, not one. (Romans 3:10-12).

Making sure of our readiness:

And to you who are troubled rest with us, when the Lord Jesus shall be revealed from heaven with his mighty angels, In flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God, and that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ: (2 Thessalonians 1: 7-8).

There seem to be two groups among the guilty - those who have not responded rightly to God and those who have not responded rightly to the gospel.

  1. Seek the Lord while he may be found - Seek ye the Lord while he may be found, call ye upon him while he is near: Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts: and let him return unto the Lord, and he will have mercy upon him; and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon. (Isaiah 55:6-7).
  2. God rewards those who diligently seek him But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him. (Hebrews 11:6).
  3. Draw near to God and he will draw near to youDraw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you. Cleanse your hands, ye sinners; and purify your hearts, ye double minded. (James 4:8).
  4. Put your trust (to believe) in JesusJesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live: (John 11:25).

Covid 19 presents a significant concern to us now. It has drawn attention to our current mortality and it pales in comparison to a future tragedy for those who ignore putting things right with God now. If you have it in your heart to draw near to God now, then you are most likely responding to a calling. Continue to search for him, pray to him and draw near to him so that he may draw near to you.

I hope you found this useful.

Best.

You seriously need to reexamine your heart and motives because to say or think something like that is evil.

It reminds me of this verse.

54 When the disciples James and John saw this, they asked, “Lord, do you want us to call fire down from heaven to destroy them[a]?”55 But Jesus turned and rebuked them.

What was said specifically that came across as being "evil"?

Just an observation, not a judgment. The demoncrat governor of New Jersey is making it mandatory for everyone, small business owners as well to wear a mask and gloves. Do you think that's ok?

Yes.  All rights are reserved to the state.  If you state elects someone, who says all'ya'all got to wear a mask, then it is up to that state to vote out that governor and replace him.

Now that is not ok for the Federal Government.  The constitution gives no such power to the Federal Government, to dictate to the states.  But the state absolutely has the right to run itself.

Let em put this another way.  Jesus indirectly answered this very question:

Luke 13:4

Quote

Or those eighteen who died when the tower in Siloam fell on them--do you think they were more guilty than all the others living in Jerusalem?
I tell you, no! But unless you repent, you too will all perish.

The point is, the tower of Siloam falling was not because everyone outside the tower was good, and everyone inside the tower was bad.

Equally, there are numerous times in the Bible, where good people died.

Again, we believe in something called a natural disaster.   Bad stuff happens in this sin cursed world.  Simply follow the Lord to the best of your ability, and in the end, things will turn out good, either here or in Heaven.

No. This is a wakeup call for us all and allows us some Grace to get our acts together for when it really gets so bad we will be speechless.

Imagine how this caught us all by surprise. The end will also take us by surprise too. So get your mind in order, get your priorities sorted out and decide ahead of time what is worth preserving. Major institutions, like huge churches, may be a thing of the past and so grassroots house to house meeting may become the norm. This dispersal gives us all a chance and the demise of the 501(c3) charity exemptions will make a difference to government moneys that seek to control us. Already they have passed (in most States) laws that curtail growing crops and animals for general consumption. This was no accident either, so we have already been somewhat controlled while we were not looking. Let us beware of other laws and changes that might soon be passed forbidding our independent survival.

Be warned and get ready now.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
