Are We Light in the Lord or Just Sinners Saved By Grace?

We have all heard the statement. We are just sinners saved by grace. If churches had mantras, this would be ours as the modern church in the west. But I pray you listen to what the Word  of God tells us, for this  simply does not line up with scripture. Paul tells us that once we were darkness but now we are light in the Lord. He tells us that we are new creatures, with natures over which sin has no power. He tells us that if Christ dwells in us, we are not in the flesh any longer and owe it nothing. He declares that we are new creatures with new natures, natures that not only want to obey, but CAN obey! Glory!

What radically wonderful truths! But it is these amazing truths  that satan has succeeded in blinding us to for much of the last 1900 years. Oh, we believe them in a 'theoretical' sort of way... with our heads.... but  how many can testify of their truth with their hearts?  How many can declare that these truths have given them real victory over the world, the flesh and the devil?

For the most part, with a few glorious exceptions, it has been accepted that, despite what our Bibles declare to us,  we are still, at the end of the day, "just sinners saved by grace".

All that is beginnig to change. Now, at the end of the age, God is beginning  to wake His own  up to the truth of who we truly are,  and the changes it will bring to our lives, our victory, our relationships with others,  our walk with God Himself will be simply mind-blowing and totally revolutionary.

So who are we then? We WERE sinners, men with fallen natures. Like Paul in Romans 7, we wanted to do good, but did evil instead. We have longed for freedom, but walked as prisoners of sin and self instead. Are we forgiven for those failings? Absolutely! Thank God, He sent Jesus to die in our place, and take the punishment we deserved, so that He could abundantly forgive our sins and trespasses. And we have faithfully preached the cross and walked in the forgiveness He offers us. But here is the question for the hour that we need to answer. Is that all our God purchased for us? Not by a long shot.

You see, we are told that we WERE sinners, but now we are light in the Lord…. new  creatures with brand new natures! Glory! But here we need to understand. As with all that concerns the truths of God, our enjoyment of the promise of our new nature is contingent on our believing….. and receiving…. our new natures.

You see, it is this truth that we really are new creatures that offers us protection when satan comes accusing and tempting as he always does. In times past, we would walk well for a while, but satan would catch us at a moment of weakness and hit us with a temptation…. to  sin, to doubt, to put self’s desires above those of the Lord. And despite our desire to walk as holy, obedient children, we would succumb to the temptation and fall….. again.

But in these tumultuous last days, as the shakings begin, we, the church, the children of God, are re-discovering our shields and swords and armor. You see, these weapons of warfare we have been provided, work, but only when wielded by our new new natures that we can put on by a simple, powerful act of faith.  That is why Paul tells us "Nothing profits but a new creature." And as God's children slowly awaken to who they really are, Satan is about to finally have a fight on his hands, and it is one he knows he is destined to lose. Praise God.

Oh children of the most High, our God has given us exceeding great and precious promises that for most, we have been totally ignorant of. . Listen to what Peter has to say:

"....have been given to us exceedingly great and precious promises, that through these you may be partakers of the divine nature.”

                                  2 Peter 1:4

Whoa! Is a light bulb going off inside your head? Peter is telling us here that it is through our believing God’s promises…. arming ourselves with  them….that the process of being changed into His image actually truly begins to works. Sanctification, our being changed into His likeness, is not automatic. It happens in direct correlation to our believing what God has promised us. Our faith is not to be a singular, static thing, not a one time prayer. Our faith is a living thing, a walk, and God has ordained that we GROW in it as it grows in us.

Yes, forgiveness is wonderful. But for the most part, we have camped there, thinking this is all God has to offer us. Praise God, In these last days, our eyes are going to be opened to the amazing promises of God, promises that are our birthright, promises that most of us have, up til now, been blinded to. Yes, the shakings are real, and yes, the world will wax worse and worse, but despite that, amazing day are ahead for every true child of God as we awake to who we are, and put on our new natures, natures that can stare down the devil when he tempts us to fall. .

 Blessings,

 Gideon

So what exactly has  God promised us?  Let's see....

God has promised to keep us from falling.

He has promised to give us shields of faith that He personally guarantees will quench ALL the fiery arrows of the enemy.

He has promised us that He will not allow us to be tempted above our ability to resist, and will with EVERY temptation, make a way of escape so that we will be able to bear it without falling.

He has promised to abide in us and us in Him  so that we will not fulfill the lusts of the flesh.

He has promised to cause us…. you read that right,  His words, not mine…. CAUSE US…. to walk in full obedience.  (Ezekiel 36:27) Glory!

So why, if these promises are true, and our God is not a man that He should lie, why do we not see them fulfilled in our walks? Because we are only human and no one is perfect? I reckon God knew that when He made those promises, don’t you? LOL.

D owe not see? If God promises are divine chains to lift us uo into the Heavenlies, but we are the proverbial "weak link", then what good are they?  We will always blow it, right? Ahhhh, but what if the weak links are transformed into strong, unbreakable, unshakable ones? ?

Why then do we not see the results of such amazing promises? Simple. It is because God has ordained that everything in the kingdom is based upon faith, not works, and even though we know with our heads that when Christ died, so did we, and that when Christ rose from the dead to newness of life, so did we, we know it with our heads. But have  we truly believed it with our hearts?  For the vast majority, we have not. Our hearts have been taught to say “Impossible, for we are just sinners saved by grace." And because of this, one of the key principles of faith kicks in.

“But it did not profited them not being mixed with faith in them that heard it."

God asks one thing of us concerning these promises. Put off the old nature that cannot believe them and put on our new nature that can! He tells us therefore to reckon our old self, as dead and to now yield ourselves to God as those who are alive from the dead.  Why is this so critical? Because only those walking in the faith of who they are can believe such amazing promises!

This “reckoning” is our shout of faith where we finally come into full agreement with God. He asks us to appropriate what He accomplished and call it done, not waiting to see with our eyes that it is done. Not in the process of being done over the next thirty years.  Not done when we die and go to Heaven. DONE. Believe that you receive it, and you shall have it, amen?

He asks us to put off our rebellious self-loving old nature, and put on a brand new one Christ has for us, one that can actually be caused to walk in full and complete obedience.  And when we do, that seed of pure faith that can actually believe all thse amazing promises, that seed that may have been laying dormant all these years since we were first born again, suddenly will begin to spring forth to newness of life.

Look, Satan will try to tempt still, to accuse still. He is relentless. And trust me, once you make your declaration that you are indeed a new creature in Christ, your enemy will be determined to pry those words of faith out of your mouths before they begin to take root. And yes, that WAS you but it is us no more. So who are you?  You are now a new creature, more than a conqueror. You are an  overcomers of the world, the flesh and the devil. You are light, and not darkness....not even a little part, and if we grab hold of that truth and remain there, God will begin to grow our faith until we are established in it, and the fruits of the Spirit, the very nature of Christ will grow in us.

This is the good fight of faith we have all been called to. Satan does not care if we sin or resist sinning, as long as we still believe the lie that we are in the flesh and cannot ever escape  our fallen nstures.  I pray you hear me.  That is a lie of gargantuan proportions. And it is a lie that is about to go down in flames as God’s church awakes to righteousness and sins not, simply by finally coming into agreement with our God.

We are the saints spoken of in Revelations who will combine the blood of the lamb with the words of OUR testimony. An army of overcomers, with our feet finally in the right place… on satan’s neck.

blessings,

Gideon

Behold, does it really matter in the great scheme of things whether Gideon has "borrowed" from someone else the truth of what he's posted? Did not Jesus Himself rebuke the disciples regarding the man who was preaching Christ, though he did not follow them. If the truth is being preached, leave the brother alone, and display a better godly attitude toward him. Consider yourself "told off" brother, God bless.

I appreciate your opinion, buy you'll have to mature a bit in Christ to be someone who could "tell me off", and if that day arrives, then make certain what you are defending has the value worth you trying to do it.

Ok?

So,  i dont find much in what He wrote that speaks to anyone who is busy doing God's will.  His entire Thread, including at least one other one,  from a week ago, simple says that the born again are asleep, we're dead, God is about to kick up in the face,  and that trouble is coming so we better wake up.

Maybe that speaks to you, because its YOUR walk with the Lord that he's talking about, but, its not mine, and as far as i can tell, its not reflective of most of the people who are regulars here.

Borrowed.. does it really matter Heybro? I think so. I have no clue as to what is being talked about "borrowed". What have I said that I didn't get from someone else lol. I try to make it my own. I don't see whats borrowed.. its about holiness and Christ hes always pointing to.... AMEN!

I think what does not get much lol LIGHT is that light that is in us. Its real...its a light the world CAN see. Not good nature.. or being a good faithful believer. Its Christ in us.. When Christ walked this earth.. they really saw something in Him. That is IN us..should be. Saved by grace through faith.. oh amen. Sill a sinner? In that case.. for me I might as well live at the altar :)

I think the point was the whole "borrowed" thing is a spurious attack :)   Every single truth I have embraced I borrowed from Scripture :)  HE is TRUTH.  And i'm borrowing as much of Him as I can manage as fast as I can manage it.

And whoever He might give an ability to explain truth to my understanding.  Someone can accuse me of borrowing all they like...i'll wear that accusation proudly...if it's truth and my heart discerns it is...at that point it's MINE :)
