God's Judgement Of Tyrus 1-19, Prophecy Against Zidon 20-26

 Ezekiel Twenty Eight       Par ▾

Prophecy against the King of Tyre

1The word of the LORD came again unto me, saying,

2Son of man, say unto the prince of Tyrus, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Because thine heart is lifted up, and thou hast said, I am a God, I sit in the seat of God, in the midst of the seas; yet thou art a man, and not God, though thou set thine heart as the heart of God:

3Behold, thou art wiser than Daniel; there is no secret that they can hide from thee:

4With thy wisdom and with thine understanding thou hast gotten thee riches, and hast gotten gold and silver into thy treasures:

5By thy great wisdom and by thy traffick hast thou increased thy riches, and thine heart is lifted up because of thy riches:

6Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD; Because thou hast set thine heart as the heart of God;

7Behold, therefore I will bring strangers upon thee, the terrible of the nations: and they shall draw their swords against the beauty of thy wisdom, and they shall defile thy brightness.

8They shall bring thee down to the pit, and thou shalt die the deaths of them that are slain in the midst of the seas.

9Wilt thou yet say before him that slayeth thee, I am God? but thou shalt be a man, and no God, in the hand of him that slayeth thee.

10Thou shalt die the deaths of the uncircumcised by the hand of strangers: for I have spoken it, saith the Lord GOD.

A Lament over the King of Tyre

11Moreover the word of the LORD came unto me, saying,

12Son of man, take up a lamentation upon the king of Tyrus, and say unto him, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Thou sealest up the sum, full of wisdom, and perfect in beauty.

13Thou hast been in Eden the garden of God; every precious stone was thy covering, the sardius, topaz, and the diamond, the beryl, the onyx, and the jasper, the sapphire, the emerald, and the carbuncle, and gold: the workmanship of thy tabrets and of thy pipes was prepared in thee in the day that thou wast created.

14Thou art the anointed cherub that covereth; and I have set thee so: thou wast upon the holy mountain of God; thou hast walked up and down in the midst of the stones of fire.

15Thou wast perfect in thy ways from the day that thou wast created, till iniquity was found in thee.

16By the multitude of thy merchandise they have filled the midst of thee with violence, and thou hast sinned: therefore I will cast thee as profane out of the mountain of God: and I will destroy thee, O covering cherub, from the midst of the stones of fire.

17Thine heart was lifted up because of thy beauty, thou hast corrupted thy wisdom by reason of thy brightness: I will cast thee to the ground, I will lay thee before kings, that they may behold thee.

18Thou hast defiled thy sanctuaries by the multitude of thine iniquities, by the iniquity of thy traffick; therefore will I bring forth a fire from the midst of thee, it shall devour thee, and I will bring thee to ashes upon the earth in the sight of all them that behold thee.

19All they that know thee among the people shall be astonished at thee: thou shalt be a terror, and never shalt thou be any more.

A Prophecy against Sidon

20Again the word of the LORD came unto me, saying, 21Son of man, set thy face against Zidon, and prophesy against it,

22And say, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, I am against thee, O Zidon; and I will be glorified in the midst of thee: and they shall know that I am the LORD, when I shall have executed judgments in her, and shall be sanctified in her.

23For I will send into her pestilence, and blood into her streets; and the wounded shall be judged in the midst of her by the sword upon her on every side; and they shall know that I am the LORD.

24And there shall be no more a pricking brier unto the house of Israel, nor any grieving thorn of all that are round about them, that despised them; and they shall know that I am the Lord GOD.

The Restoration of Israel

25Thus saith the Lord GOD; When I shall have gathered the house of Israel from the people among whom they are scattered, and shall be sanctified in them in the sight of the heathen, then shall they dwell in their land that I have given to my servant Jacob. 26And they shall dwell safely therein, and shall build houses, and plant vineyards; yea, they shall dwell with confidence, when I have executed judgments upon all those that despise them round about them; and they shall know that I am the LORD their God.

Tyre was a war god, also known as baal.

Satan is the war god and Mammon (god of money):

“11 Moreover, the word of the LORD came to me:
12 "Son of man (Jesus Christ), raise a lamentation over the king of Tyre, and say to him, Thus says the Lord GOD: "You were the signet of perfection, full of wisdom and perfect in beauty.
13 You were in Eden, the garden of God; every precious stone was your covering, sardius, topaz, and diamond, beryl, onyx, and jasper, sapphire, emerald, and carbuncle; and crafted in gold were your settings and your engravings. On the day that you were created they were prepared.
14 You were an anointed guardian cherub (Cherubim that Covereth, a Cherubim). I placed you; you were on the holy mountain of God; in the midst of the stones of fire you walked.
15 You were blameless in your ways from the day you were created, till unrighteousness was found in you.
16 In the abundance of your trade (Mammon is born) you were filled with violence in your midst, and you sinned; so I cast you as a profane thing from the mountain of God, and I destroyed you, O guardian cherub, from the midst of the stones of fire.
17 Your heart was proud because of your beauty; you corrupted your wisdom for the sake of your splendor (Isaiah 14:11-14). I cast you to the ground; I exposed you before kings, to feast their eyes on you.
18 By the multitude of your iniquities, in the unrighteousness of your trade you profaned your sanctuaries; so I brought fire out from your midst; it consumed you, and I turned you to ashes on the earth in the sight of all who saw you.
19 All who know you among the peoples are appalled at you; you have come to a dreadful end and shall be no more forever (Revelation 20:10)."  (Ezekiel 28:11-19)

We see in Ezekiel 28:16 that Lucifer fell because of his trade or commerce, which bred violence. This is why Satan is Mammon and Jesus says, “"No one can serve two masters, for either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and money.” (Matthew 6:24)

Who invented war or started the first war? The devil and hsi angels:

“7 Now war arose in heaven, Michael and his angels fighting against the dragon. And the dragon and his angels fought back,
8 but he was defeated, and there was no longer any place for them in heaven.
9 And the great dragon was thrown down, that ancient serpent, who is called the devil and Satan, the deceiver of the whole world-he was thrown down to the earth, and his angels were thrown down with him.” (Revelation 12:7-9)

The devil is Mammon and Tyre (baal).

What struck me about this prophecy is that God dwells in the midst of blazing stones of fire.  These are the same precious stones found on the high priest breastplate.

We are now being built as lively stones for an habitation for God.

Satan is quite familiar with those precious stones and their significance.  He walked up and down the mountain of God in the midst of blazing stones of fire.  But most of the church are not familiar with them, nor do we know how we can be adorned with them.

12 previous stones.  The number 12.represents apostolic fullness.  we need all 12 to enter into the fullness of what God has for us.

@Josheb

it's good to read scripture.  All scripture is profitable for doctrine reproof correction and for instruction in righteousness.

I enjoy reading Walters post.  Beside when the holy spirit highlights a scripture to you,  it promotes discussion .

It's the best way to learn.Do you want to know more about those 12 precious stones? Like a bride adorns herself with her jewyels . You will be awestruck by them and they will inspire you to pursue after them so that you won't be barren nor unfruitful but will have an abundance entry into the kingdom.

How are you defining "Israel"?

Is it defined in Old Testament terms as a geo-political theocratic nation-state based on genetics or physical bloodline, or in New Testament terms as a larger group of people that includes Gentile converts who have been "grafted" into the already existing "tree" of Christ that is those who live by faith in the incarnate, crucified and resurrected anointed one of God? Or perhaps some other, third alternative?

I was not trying to define Israel.

I understand that. That is why I asked. If we are going to discuss "the restoration of Israel" as is asserted in the title of this opening post then we ought to have a working definition of the term "Israel," that definition should be agreed upon, and this definition that mutually agreed upon by all the participants in the conversation ought to bear integrity with scripture's definition of "Israel." Otherwise, we'll have different posters using the same term using different definitions talking past one another. We'll have another think we know what the other person is talking about when we don't. We'll think the see Israel as X when they really mean Y. An appearance of agreement might be had when in fact the positions will completely different from one another, if not in direct contradiction to one another!

More than once since rejoining Worthy a few weeks ago I have asked how folks define the "house of Israel," given the original languages' different uses of the term "house," but no one has ever responded. As far as I can tell either no one knows what they are talking about or its one of those concerns where there's a refusal to discuss it - no discussion in a discussion board!  :whistling:

So....... In this OP that is specifically about "the restoration of Israel," how is the term "Israel" being defined? Is it being defined as the OT appears to reference it, or as the NT defines it, or some other third alternative?

Well! so far, since you do understand that, but now you ask:

So....... In this OP that is specifically about "the restoration of Israel," how is the term "Israel" being defined? Is it being defined as the OT appears to reference it, or as the NT defines it, or some other third alternative?

I think you are looking for answers that you already know,

I know you read, Ezekiel 28:25, 26

I am looking for you to explain your thought, purpose, and position. I am not a mind reader. Yes, I did and have read Ezekiel 28. Many time in many years, not just today. I do know what I know. What I do not know is you.

So I ask.

And, as usual, I'm getting nowhere. It's your op, Walter. Are you going to discuss it or not? Three of us have weighed in and not of us are being engaged. I can't even get a single, solitary, simply question answered.  Instead I have to wade through responses like, "I was trying not to define Israel?" and "I think you are looking for answers that you already know."

What?!?!?!

Just answer the question asked and we can have a conversation! How is the op going to be discussed cogently without a common, scripture-based definition? I dunno but it is your op so I ask,

How are you defining "Israel" in your op?

Again, I was not trying to define Israel, but you insist to ask the same question about Israel in the op.

Except for this question that you also asked:

On 7/28/2020 at 9:04 AM, Josheb said:

Interesting questions and I need to look into and pray about this issue, ok?

I've often noticed that Walter just likes to quote certain scriptures. I wouldn't be surprised if when he made the OP he thought he had figured something out but upon reflection thought differently about it. Just a thought.

Let's have a common understanding of the term, one common with scripture if possible and I provided two options and availed us of a third if you have one.

@Josheb  So then, I understand about Israel being God chosen people and how Ezekiel had felt, even though the LORD delivered him, now in these end times as I was praying just then, He is still the same for us. Galatians 6:16

And as many as walk according to this rule, peace be on them, and mercy, and upon the Israel of God.

What is your understanding on the term?

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
