This question falls under the catagory of "questions I have had for along time but am to scared to openly ask". OK here it is....The Bible teaches us to love God. It teaches that you had darn well better love him are you are going to sizzle in an undescribable furnace for ever and ever. Day and night.Screaming , crying, teeth grinding, cronic pain unlike anything we experience hear on earth, hunger, thirst, darkness, lonelyness ect. ect...Hypothetical. Remove hell. Lets say hell does not exist and if you die without Christ you still go to a place of rest. Perhaps not heaven but not hell. So there is no Hell. Do you think as many people would come to Christ or live in obedience? I think not. God wants us to love him with all we have. How can it ever really be real love if he holds hell over our heads. I have three sons. I certainly want them to love me but not because I threaten them. That would not be love. It would be me manipulating them with fear to act a certain way and I am not even saying that thats a bad thing but still, love? No thats not love. I want them to love me because of who I am and because they choose to and have a desire to. How could I ever be sure if I threaten them with punishment if they dont. Likewise with God. I believe in hell but I sometimes think that it taints the whole love thing. Any takers???????

Dan

My love for the Lord has nothing to do with the threat of hell.

I loved God (before accepting Jesus) when I thought hell was not real. I accepted Jesus without believing in hell. Of course at that moment I believed in hell, when the Holy Spirit corrected so many of my ideas, but since I was saved, didnt view hell as a threat. Since then my love for the Lord has grown, as He has shown me His awesome majesty, His compassion and mercy. Hell plays no role in my relationship with Him. I want to be close to God. I am awed by what Jesus has done for me. I want to serve Him. None of this has to do with the threat of hell.

Dan,

God is just!!!

He created man to have fellowship with Him...man was the one who broke that friendship with God...

Hell was never created for man but satan and his hoards of fallen angels...

Man decided to follow satan into damnation by turning their backs on God...

But as the story of the Prodigal Son illustrates...God has opened up His arms to accept man back into His house...

But if man decides not to God has no control over that...

He is asking us as His children to come back home and it is up to each one to do that...

really it is not a case of love me or else...!!!

it is a case of please come back home and save yourselves from eternal damnation...

it was mankind that ran away from home and it is mankind that has to make the decision to return...

That is how God loves us He gives us the option...I bet everyone would hate God if He forced us to come home...

I remember when my parents would force me to do things...i was miserable...

but if they had of given me the choice and explained the consequences both ways i would have been happy that it was my choice to make the right decision!!!

does that make any sense...my hope that it is!!!

I accepted Jesus because I needed a friend when all of my human friends turned their backs on me. I believe Jesus saved me from a premature end.

God is good. What more do you need? :emot-hug:

Dan...my friend, please don't think of God as some cruel dictator.

Consider this...........................

Pretend you go to the doctor and he tells you, "Son, you have a tumor. If we don't remove the tumor, you'll die."

Now, the spiritual equivalent:

Mankind has a tumor. The tumor is sin.

If this tumor isn't removed, it will spread and destroy the whole Body.

2 Pet 3:9 The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some count slackness, but is longsuffering toward us, not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance.

God gave us a "way out" of our problem. He didn't leave us hopeless but hopeful.

Dan, Jesus is GOD! He suffered a horrible death to give us a way out. That's love.

He loved Satan when he was "Lucifer" but this once-glorious angel turned on Him. If heaven is infested with those who hate God, it won't be heaven for long.

There's no "in-betweens" or "gray areas" in the spirit world. There's darkness and there's light.

God asks us to choose light...and thereby, choose "life".

Jesus IS the life. He loves you and wants you to be loyal to Him and not yield to His enemy, Satan.

I hope that helps...

Very good reply catsmeow!!! :emot-hug: You truly are the catsmeow aren't you? :halo: I would go a little further however...not only DID God love Satan...He still does!!! A lot of people forget this. God's love doesn't stop when we do. Unfortunately, satan doesn't love God and he must pay the price...an eternity without Him. Flames or no flames...that is hell my brothers and sisters. I can take the flames...i can't take no Jesus!!! Please come to Him my seeker friend... a decision you will never regret...don't let satan steal this One from you!!! :)

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
