Do you all as Christians feel that support of the confederate flags and monuments is the same as building memorials to honor the 9-11 hijackers in the US?  It can be stated that honoring confederate generals who literally tried to destroy this country and caused the deaths of 600,000 people because of their rebellion is much worse.

The confederates didn't try to destroy this country. They tried to leave this country and become their own.

You need to remember there are those of us here from the South who take offense at your words charging us with honoring a destruction of this country.

I understand that many, many, MANY people across the rest of the country who despise us here and have absolutely no understanding of who we are and really don't care, but we do NOT honor death, destruction, nor rebellion.

The South made an effort to secede to keep their own state's right for decision making.  NOT to keep abusing black people as slaves.

Slavery was and is an evil institution, but who today reveres it?

Oh, how I wish I could give a history lesson as to BOTH sides mistake's, prejudice's, and contribution to slavery.

But....who will listen.  The South - today - has been condemned as slave lovers and haters.

I don't wave the Confederate flag, but I know a few who do who do so to honor a Southern heritage - magnolia trees, shrimp gumbo, the Kentucky Derby, and more.

Just come on down here and tear down all the statues and burn all the flags you chose.  RIot and loot all you want. We can't stop you.  You've already made up your mind about us.  You've deemed us evil.

I am from the south as well. I had ancestors who fought for both the Union and the Confederacy. Truthfully, I had never gave the statues any thought.

Recently, I have tried to look at it from the point of view of those who want the statues down. My ancestors were not slaves, how would I feel if they had been?

I think I probably would feel the way a Jew would if they lived in Germany and there were statues of Hitler, Gohring and Eichmann everywhere.

I would say that this is an issue each Christian would have to work out for themselves.

I'm sorry.  I can't compare Jefferson Davis to Hitler.

I understand your point.

I just don't appreciate the rest of the world treating us here like we are all sister-marrying Klansmen.

And a proper way to remove a statue that offends you is to make a legal petition to do so.  Killing people, burning buildings, defacing property, and looting isn't the way to do it.

I just get weary everyday of the way that the people of the South are described all over social media.

And if anyone MUST know why I have a bee in my bonnet is the comparison the OP made between Southern people and the people who attacked the US on 9-11.

That one has me in tears as I speak.

I wonder if they will demand the removal of statues of Margaret Sanger, an avowed racist and the abortion clinics founded in her honor? Or how about Albert Pike, a confederate soldier and freemason? Or Charles Darwin who spoke of "favored races" and called Blacks lesser humans, and arguably led to Hitler's Aryan teachings of superior races that led to the genocide of Jews?

Jefferson Davis was trying to uphold a system that enslaved people, owned people, killed people if they chose, based on race, so to me, there is a comparison between Davis and Hitler. Hitler was just more successful.

I do agree that there are better ways to get things done than looting and burning. This is why I support Trump.

I don't see that the OP was comparing today's southern people to muslim terrorists. He was talking about memorials to people who lived in thhe 1800's. I agree that it is ludicrous to have memorials for terrorists. To a black person in 1860, slave owners were terrorists.

I've got to say your post gave me a little chuckle.  I don't mean that in a negative way.  I don't think that democrat equates to wanting to loot and riot. lol.  In fact, I'm a conservative Christian from Georgia originally who has lived in other places too.  I will certainly not be supporting the bigot-in-chief in November.  I'll be supporting the honorable J. Biden.

I have to disagree with you in the sense that the South made an effort to secede to keep the State's rights for decisions.  The only right they wanted was to take away rights of African slaves, and they were willing to shed their blood to uphold an evil practice.  No Christian should support the confed flag (not saying you do) if any just for the reason that it is a stumbling block to your African American brothers and sisters in Christ along with people of all races.  For most people, the confederate flag is a symbol of evil and hate, and that's just what it is.  So, even if people have innocent intentions for displaying it, that's not the point.  For a Christian, our number goal is to serve Jesus and be a witness.  A confederate flag is an automatic negative witness for the Lord.  So, Christians should certainly be the main one in the south burning those wretched flags down.   Anyway, it is good to fully understand how one's witness for Jesus can be impacted by impressions.

That's very introspective and honest to try to put yourself in others' shoes.  Too many people make decisions only thinking of themselves.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
